It was 5:00 PM.
After parting ways with Mahina, Lorevil took a carriage back to her family mansion. She sent a short message to Noxia’s communication blood crystal.
“I’m home.”
Noxia had been sitting on the sofa, dazed and nearly asleep, with her pale little feet tucked between her legs, curled into a ball. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly like butterfly wings as she drifted into a peaceful slumber.
Suddenly, the red crystal she held in her hands glowed slightly.
Noxia woke up and looked at the message, her movements turning hurried. She looked like a child worried about missing something important, or a student who was about to be late for school and hadn’t prepared anything. She quickly jumped off the sofa, put on her shoes, and hopped over to the door.
Opening it, she saw Lorevil standing there with a faint smile.
“Welcome home.”
Noxia’s face overflowed with a pure smile, and her eyes shone like stars. She skillfully followed Lorevil into the house and reached out to take the coat she had just removed, hugging it tightly to her chest.
“I can do that myself from now on,” Lorevil couldn’t help but say.
Even though this was something Noxia dearly wanted to do—her way of finding a sense of belonging in this massive mansion—Lorevil still felt that Noxia was being too hard on herself.
“Why?” Noxia looked up, her clear eyes filled with confusion.
“I want you to do things you enjoy,” Lorevil replied seriously while looking at her. “If it’s servant work, we can let the servants handle it. Noxia, you are a noble now. You don’t need to put yourself in such a lowly position. You should have your own life and do things you truly want to do.”
“Is it… because me doing these things makes you dislike me, Lorevil?” A hint of unease flashed in Noxia’s eyes as she asked cautiously. Her fingers subconsciously tightened around the coat in her arms, dreading a negative answer.
“No. How could I ever dislike you? Noxia is so cute and so thoughtful. I couldn’t be happier,” Lorevil said.
“Then what if I like doing these things?” Noxia asked. “I’ve had no one to take care of me since I was a child, and no one needed me to take care of them. Since coming here, being able to organize your clothes, prepare snacks for you, and wait for you to come home makes me feel useful. These things aren’t a burden; they’re what I like to do. Seeing you wear clean clothes and eat snacks that suit your taste makes me very happy.”
Noxia’s clear eyes gazed at Lorevil as she spoke earnestly. “Lorevil, to me, being able to stay by your side and do these things for you is my favorite thing in the world.”
Lorevil froze, looking at Noxia’s serious face. Wanting what was best for the girl might have just been her own wishful thinking.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t take your feelings into account. If you really like it, then you can keep doing it in the future,” Lorevil said with apology and tenderness. She reached out to pat Noxia’s head; the soft, silver hair felt wonderful to the touch.
“Mm-hmm, Lorevil!” Noxia’s eyes lit up, as if she had received the most precious reward.
Lorevil watched as Noxia happily carried the coat toward the cloakroom to put it away. She then sat down on the sofa where Noxia had been sitting earlier.
‘It really is just like Noxia. A reliable wife always manages to recharge my energy when I’m feeling down.’
However, as Lorevil looked down, she suddenly spotted a hickey Catherine had left on her collarbone. She broke out in a cold sweat!
She quickly turned her head toward the cloakroom where Noxia still was, a mixture of guilt and relief rising in her heart.
‘That was careless. Luckily, my wife didn’t see it, or how would I have explained it?’
While Lorevil was thinking, the communication blood crystal lit up again. It was a message from Madam Sharon.
“Master Jerwen approved your leave for today, but you must be a good student and attend class tomorrow.”
“I understand. Thank you for your concern, Madam.”
Putting down the blood crystal, Lorevil leaned back against the sofa. Looking at the familiar furnishings in the living room, she suddenly felt an unprecedented sense of stability. The original owner of this body had lived recklessly, chasing only what she wanted without regard for others. Now, even though she was a transmigrator, she had found a sense of being needed through Mahina and Noxia.
‘If I can’t go back, I’ll just treat this place as my home.’
—
Lorevil had been standing naked in front of the bathroom mirror for fifteen minutes.
During this time, she had acquired a lot of unfamiliar knowledge. Although she subconsciously pushed this knowledge to the back of her mind, if she were one of those lecherous people in a comment section, she probably would have started using her hands long ago. Lorevil wasn’t flat-chested. Her development was consistent with that of a normal woman—everyone needed to realize that clearly. Precisely because Lorevil had always been a broad-minded person, she was quite dismissive of those who were narrow-minded.
Lorevil looked down at her white, smooth arms. When her body circulated bloodline energy, two red dots would emerge on her wrist.
‘Does an additional red dot appear on the wrist for every rank I advance?’ Lorevil thought deeply. She had indeed been a bit negligent in learning about the ranks of the Vampire race, leaving her knowledge on the subject a complete blank.
The memories of the original body were still slowly merging. Lorevil had thought the two would blend indistinguishably, but perhaps as a basic perk of being a transmigrator, her powerful mental strength allowed her to absorb them without being affected at all. Moreover, the memories of her past life had not blurred; instead, they were exceptionally clear, like a book in her mind that she could flip through at any time. It was incredibly convenient.
“Lorevil, it’s time for breakfast. Hurry up, or you’ll be late.”
“Wait, I’ll be right there.”
If it hadn’t been for her wife Noxia’s reminder, Lorevil wouldn’t have stopped her investigation. She left the bathroom with regret.
After putting on some unfamiliar clothes, Lorevil felt a rare sense of restriction. She shook her head.
‘Going commando… no way.’
After eating the breakfast Noxia had made with love, Lorevil yawned as she boarded the carriage. During the process, Noxia chattered away, whispering various things to her. Lorevil nodded with a smile, listening to her rambling words.
‘She really is a reliable wife.’
Seeing that they were running out of time, Lorevil blew air onto Noxia’s fair, tender ear.
“w(゚Д゚)w”
Watching the shy Noxia turn around and close the door, Lorevil let out a light chuckle.
“Coachman, hurry up! I’m going to be late!”
—
The first class was still Master Jerwen’s class.
Lorevil sat in the back row by the window, looking at her textbook with a hint of boredom. When did she become like Fini?
Beside her, Fini was snoring loudly, a strand of crystal-clear drool hanging from the corner of her mouth. She didn’t even notice Master Jerwen walking into the classroom.
“Ahem.”
Master Jerwen cleared his throat. His gaze swept across the room like a lion on patrol, eventually locking onto Fini.
“Blood crystal cake… one more piece…” Fini muttered, completely unaware, even smacking her lips in her sleep.
“Wake up, Master Jerwen is here!” Lorevil nudged Fini with her elbow, whispering a reminder.
“Ugh…” Fini looked up groggily, rubbing her eyes. When she saw Master Jerwen standing at the podium with a grim expression, she instantly shuddered in fear.
‘Dammit, you should have said something sooner.’ Fini shot a glare at Lorevil.
‘It’s good enough that I reminded you at all, and you have the nerve to glare at me?’ Lorevil rolled her eyes.
