Lintis, who had been chattering nonstop, was ordered to keep quiet.
She could only shrug helplessly at that.
‘This knight really is innocent~’
After walking about one or two kilometers, they arrived in front of a farm.
The farm was not very large, only about five mu of land. At the center stood a medium-small two-story wooden house, built mainly with red bricks and wood. Around it were sections for vegetables, fruit crops, livestock, and compost. Each area was fairly small, leaving nearly one-third of the land as open space in front of the house.
Shilo walked ahead without bothering to introduce anything, simply leading her straight into the wooden house.
Inside, the layout was simple—a sofa and a dining table, along with a basic kitchen and a shower room. That was the entirety of the first floor.
Only then did Shilo finally speak.
“This is the living room. Make yourself at home.”
‘Wow, thanks. That tells me absolutely nothing,’ Lintis complained inwardly.
They went upstairs next, reaching a wooden door at the end of the hallway. Inside was a bedroom of about fifteen square meters.
A single bed was placed against the north wall, paired with a simple bedside table and wardrobe. A full-length mirror stood nearby, and the south-facing window ensured good lighting. The overall style remained just as minimal as before.
“You’ll stay here from now on. Meals and bathing are downstairs. There are clean clothes in the wardrobe. As for your own clothes, wash them yourself. Work can wait until tomorrow—I need to think about what someone with your frail body can even do,” Shilo said expressionlessly.
“Um…” Lintis blinked and raised a small hand. Only after he looked at her did she continue, “I’m actually pretty capable.”
Hearing that, Shilo carefully looked her over.
Her platinum-blonde hair fell to her waist, and her features were as delicate as a finely crafted porcelain doll.
She wore a pure white priestess robe, embroidered with gold patterns along the edges and cuffs. Though the white fabric had a few faint stains, she still didn’t look disheveled.
Her hands were slender and fair, her fingertips faintly pink, untouched by any signs of hardship.
Shilo let out a short laugh, not bothering to hide the disdain in his tone.
“Sorry, Lady Saint. I don’t think there’s any ‘playing house’ kind of work here. Please behave yourself. I’ll assign you something tomorrow.”
With that, he turned to leave, but after taking two steps, he looked back.
“Oh, and please don’t dirty the sheets. If you do, wash them yourself.”
With a loud thud, the door shut, leaving Lintis alone in the room.
The corner of her mouth twitched.
‘Is something wrong with this guy? Why am I even saving someone like him? Is he really a knight?’
‘Playing house? I’ll— Seriously? And don’t dirty the bed? What am I, a kid playing in the mud?!’
She pressed her right hand against her chest, trying hard to suppress her emotions as she took deep breaths.
‘Calm down… calm down, Lintis… you’re a saint… you can’t get angry over something like this…’
After exhaling one last time, she finally calmed herself.
She was just about to lie down on the soft bed when she glanced at her dirty robe and fell silent.
Then she opened the wardrobe and rummaged around for a while, finally finding two pieces of clothing she could wear. She prepared to go downstairs to bathe and change.
As for whether she might suddenly be attacked—there was no need to worry about that.
He was a knight, after all. His character should at least be trustworthy… right?
Thinking back on his behavior so far, “polite” wasn’t quite the word. More like completely lacking in manners.
Well, even putting that aside, she was confident in her own strength.
Did he even understand what it meant to be one of the seven active saints, ranked highest by the Pope for three consecutive years?
Her swordsmanship, magic, and divine arts were all far beyond her peers.
Forget someone like Shilo—even some paladins would have to take her seriously.
(A paladin: a knight blessed by the goddess for numerous achievements, each capable of defending a medium-small city alone.)
She tiptoed downstairs and saw that Shilo wasn’t in the living room. He was outside feeding chickens and watering crops.
That made her sigh in relief. She hurried into the shower room, locked the door, prepared hot water, and removed her clothes, placing them into a wooden basin before starting her bath.
The warm water quickly relaxed her body, improving her mood.
It was worth noting that the everyday technology of this world was quite similar to that of her previous life. The principles might differ, but it was still very convenient.
After about half an hour, Lintis changed into the clothes she had prepared.
They were simply a white shirt and long pants—clearly men’s clothing.
They hung loosely on her, but they were the only wearable options she could find. As for undergarments, there was no point even thinking about it.
It seemed she would have to find a way to get proper sleepwear and a change of clothes…
While thinking about how to bring it up with Shilo, she carried her dirty clothes out of the shower room—only to run into him as he came back inside.
“Ah… Mister Shilo, you’re back. I was just about to discuss something with you,” Lintis said, walking a little closer with a bright expression.
For some reason, Shilo stepped back several paces, even bumping into the door with an audible thud.
“Mister Shilo?”
He didn’t respond. Keeping a straight face, he strode to the sofa, grabbed a folded blanket, and tossed it at her.
“Lady Saint, could you not walk around like an exhibitionist?”
Catching the blanket, Lintis tilted her head, confused.
Exhibitionist?
Wasn’t she dressed properly?
But noticing how Shilo avoided looking at her, she suddenly realized something and looked down.
Her chest had stretched the shirt well, but her shoulders were narrower, causing the fabric to slip to one side. Her pale neck and skin were exposed, even revealing part of her chest.
…Alright, she got it.
So she had accidentally given him quite a view.
Still, it didn’t seem like a big deal. Compared to some bold girls she had seen in her previous life, this was nothing.
Even so, she obediently wrapped the blanket around herself. Seeing that Shilo was about to leave, she seized the opportunity.
“Mister Shilo, please wait.”
When he turned his attention back, she continued, “Although you already refused me once, I think I really do need some money. For example… to buy a change of clothes.”
This time, Shilo didn’t reject her immediately. A trace of hesitation appeared on his otherwise expressionless face.
After about ten seconds, he spoke.
“One gold coin.”
“Huh?” Lintis froze.
Shilo sighed. “I said I can lend you one gold coin. I hope, Lady Saint, that you’re as useful as you claim.”
Lintis brightened instantly—but his next words followed right after.
“There’s also a condition. I need to know why you’re not returning to the church. I don’t want to end up being wanted by them while walking down the road.”
“Oh?” Lintis blinked playfully. “Mister Shilo, shouldn’t you just pretend you don’t know anything and be happy about living with a cute girl?”
“Heh.” Shilo sneered. “Then forget it.”
Lintis, who had hoped to charm her way through, immediately panicked.
“No, no, no! Mister Shilo, Mister Shilo! I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you!”
“Ah… it’s not that serious. Just think of it as the saint running away from home. I even left a letter! Don’t worry!”
Shilo: “……”
“And how is that something I can ‘not worry’ about? I really shouldn’t have taken you in. Lady Saint, could you please leave my house?”
“Whaaat?!”
