The two of them arrived at the Adventurer’s Association of Isol City side by side once again.
The moment Lintis stepped through the door, she was surrounded by a swarm of adventurers, forced to begin her career as a priest.
“I’ll heal you, then you, then you, and then you…” Lintis stood with her hands on her hips, pointing at the adventurers as she established an order. “Please do not rush. Line up in an orderly fashion, or else I am leaving~”
The originally rowdy adventurers immediately fell into line obediently.
Lintis wiped away a bead of sweat. Seeing the jubilant expressions of the healed adventurers made her feel a sense of happiness as well. The slight worries she had held in her heart were now completely forgotten.
During the process, she glanced toward Mr. Shilo. He was currently talking to the receptionist about something, and his furrowed brows suggested he had encountered some sort of difficulty.
Although Lintis was curious, she still had work to do and could not abandon it. Furthermore, she had already decided to maintain some distance from Mr. Shilo.
‘I need to properly value my current body as a girl. Thinking back, the distance I kept when interacting with Mr. Shilo before was a bit too close.’
‘It wouldn’t be good if I, a peerless beauty, caused Mr. Shilo to develop some strange ideas. I don’t want to wake up one day with a man pinning me down. That image is a bit too terrifying.’
‘Sigh… My cursed beauty…’
The priestess inexplicably puffed out her chest with her hands on her hips and hummed twice with pride, leaving the surrounding adventurers somewhat bewildered.
On the other side.
“Miss Wendy, are you joking with me?” Shilo’s brow was tightly knit.
Wendy smiled. “I am not joking. Although I do not know why, Knight Marcus took a priest with him early this morning to deal with the corruption in the Black Forest.”
“Therefore, Shilo, you cannot accept this mission. But isn’t this a good thing? Since a knight is willing to handle it, you can take a good rest for a while, Shilo.”
As the receptionist, Wendy seemed quite happy with this outcome.
However, Shilo’s frown did not fade. “Miss Wendy, that old bastard Marcus spends every day either looking for women or drinking in the tavern. I suspect he has even forgotten how to lift a sword.”
“How could you let such an unreliable fellow handle a corruption incident?”
Wendy tilted her head. “But according to the regulations, Knight Marcus is indeed more suitable than you, Shilo. You know the rules. He is accompanied by a priest, and it is an ironclad law that a knight must be accompanied by a priest when dealing with corruption.”
Shilo fell silent. It was just as Miss Sery had said before; because he went on missions too frequently and never showed a good face to the priests, none of them were willing to go on a mission with him anymore…
“Miss Wendy, since there is already a priest involved, there should be no problem if I follow along, right?”
Hearing this, Wendy froze for a moment. She flipped through the manual in her hand but could not find a corresponding rule. After a moment of hesitation, she spoke with some difficulty.
“I am sorry… Shilo. Even if there is no specific rule, I cannot take it upon myself to handle this matter. I would have to report it to the Guild Master to get a result. But you know, the processing for these things is usually quite…”
Slow.
Shilo completed the sentence in his mind, his right hand unconsciously clenching into a fist.
To get permission, a priest’s company was definitely required. How could he possibly find a priest now?
This stubborn Miss Wendy… He wasn’t going to do anything bad, so why couldn’t she be a little more flexible?
The more Shilo thought about it, the more annoyed he became. Since they wouldn’t let him take the quest, he might as well just go directly. Without the information provided by the Adventurer’s Association, it would at most just take a bit more effort.
With that thought, Shilo turned to leave, but he suddenly saw the Saintess surrounded by adventurers in the center of the room. Realizing something, his expression flickered with conflict for a moment before he stepped forward.
“Miss Lintis.”
Lintis looked toward the source of the voice and saw Shilo standing outside the crowd calling her. She waved her hand to ask the adventurers to move aside.
The adventurers consciously parted into two rows, leaving a path in the middle.
Seeing this, Shilo walked toward Lintis. Although the gaze of the people around him felt strange, he had no time to worry about that now.
When he reached a position less than one meter away from Lintis, he was about to speak when the Saintess in front of him suddenly took several steps back, stopping five meters away. This caused him to freeze for a moment.
Lintis let out a hollow laugh and said with an awkward expression, “Mr. Shilo, is there something you need?”
“… Miss Lintis, could I ask you to accompany me as a priest to deal with a case of corruption?”
Hearing this, Lintis pointed at herself in surprise.
“Me?”
Shilo nodded firmly.
Looking at his serious and slightly urgent expression, Lintis blinked. Realizing this was an opportunity, a smile bloomed on her face.
“I can do that~”
“Thank you.” After Shilo finished his thanks, he turned back, intending to mention this to the receptionist.
“Wait a moment, Mr. Shilo. I have a condition.”
The girl’s voice called Shilo back. His brow furrowed slightly. “Miss Lintis, I will do my best to fulfill all your requests, but please, let us finish the mission first.”
Shilo did not want to delay any further, so he made a direct promise.
Unexpectedly, the Saintess in front of him shook her head.
“No, I want it right now.”
“Miss Lintis, I really don’t have time. Could I trouble you to come with me first?” Shilo was already becoming a bit impatient.
But Lintis ignored his attitude and remained firm in her refusal.
“No! Mr. Shilo, if you are in a hurry, then please agree to my request. My request is very simple; you can complete it right now.”
“Mr. Shilo, who is always saying hurtful things to girls, please apologize to me sincerely. That is my request. As long as you do that, I will go with—”
“Miss Lintis, I am sorry. I apologize for frequently being disrespectful to you. Please be magnanimous and forgive me, all right?”
Lintis was stunned. She hadn’t even finished her sentence, so why did Mr. Shilo’s apology come so quickly? She wasn’t even prepared to accept it yet!
There was no sense of ceremony at all!
“Mr. Shilo, Mr. Shilo, please do it over again. I wasn’t ready just now.”
After saying that, Lintis took a deep breath and opened her arms, as if imitating the pose of the Goddess statue in the church. She put on a look of loving-kindness and then looked at Shilo, urging him.
“Hurry, hurry.”
“…” Shilo’s lips twitched, and he gave her an annoyed glare.
Seeing that the Saintess still had an expectant look on her face, Shilo thought for a moment. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly as he slowly opened his mouth.
Seeing that smile, alarm bells went off in Lintis’s head. In the next second, a voice rang out.
“Sain— mmph…”
The instant the first syllable jumped out, Lintis sprinted across the five meters. She let out a cry to drown out the sound, and once she reached him, she slapped a hand over his mouth.
Immediately after, she looked at Shilo with a forced smile. “Mr. Shilo, I forgive you. Now, let us depart quickly.”
Shilo nodded. While pulling Lintis along, he ignored the wails of the adventurers and the strange gaze of the receptionist. They quickly completed the formalities and left for the Black Forest.
As for the price…
“Could you please stop poking my waist, Saintess?”
“Hmph, I won’t! You traitor!”
