“…Fine,” Shilo nodded.
Lintis patted his back with a mischievous grin. “What’s this? Shilo, you say you don’t like knights, but you’re quite eager when the opportunity actually comes, aren’t you?”
Having his weak point poked, Shilo’s face turned red. He let out a cold snort and swiped Lintis’s small hand away. He stood up to leave, only pausing to throw a sentence back as he was about to close the door.
“I’m going to train. Lady Saintess, please stay put and rest. Don’t make me feel like I’m looking after a disobedient child.”
As the door closed with a *click*, Lintis pouted in dissatisfaction.
“Ugh… he’s being dishonest again. If you’re worried about me, just say so…”
“But…” Recalling the scene from earlier, a blush crept back onto Lintis’s face. She grumbled with a bit of a complaint, ‘Hmph… lucky pervert!’
After saying that, she didn’t stay put as Shilo had instructed. Instead, she grabbed her clothes and went downstairs, preparing to wash up and change.
The physical exertion from earlier had caused quite a bit of sweat to break out on her already weak body. It didn’t feel right to continue lying in bed.
As she walked down the stairs, she happened to find Shilo clearing the dining table. Seeing her come down, Shilo looked over and immediately furrowed his brows.
“Lady Saintess, didn’t I just say you should stay put? Even when you’re sick, do you like running around this much?”
“Ugh… Shilo, you’re so fussy. I just felt sticky and uncomfortable, so I wanted to take a bath. Why do I have to listen to you nag? Whose fault do you think this is anyway?”
“…Isn’t it yours?”
“…” Lintis fell silent.
“Shilo…”
“Yeah?”
“Maybe you should just never get married in this life? I’m afraid you’d annoy a girl to death!” Lintis suggested very seriously.
Shilo’s lips twitched. He rolled his eyes, too lazy to argue with her, and carried the plates to the kitchen to wash them.
Once he was finished, he had to hurry with his training. Because of the Saintess’s situation today, he had already delayed too much time.
Seeing Shilo ignore her, Lintis shrugged indifferently and went into the bathroom to wash up, later changing into a new set of clothes.
She wore a cream-colored long-sleeved shirt with a collar paired with a burgundy skirt. The color scheme was warm and soft, and it was much warmer than her thin nightgown from before. One could say she was wrapped up quite tightly.
After what happened earlier, the Lady Saintess decided she would be well-behaved and would never again ignore the hazards of being alone with a man.
She scanned the living room but saw no sign of Shilo. Looking through the window, she saw him already training in the open space of the farm.
‘He’s so diligent…’ Lintis’s expression went a bit dazed for a moment, but she quickly snapped out of it.
Since she had nothing better to do while the weather was nice, she went back to her room, stripped the bedsheets and pillowcases, and washed them along with her dirty clothes.
It took about thirty minutes to finish the washing. She carried them to a sunny spot to hang them up to dry.
Feeling the sunlight spill across her face, Lintis couldn’t help but let out a soft, comfortable hum. This made her lose any intention of going back inside to rest.
She simply dragged a chair out and placed it not far from where Shilo was training, lazily basking in the sun while she watched him.
‘It really would be nice to have a lounge chair,’ Lintis thought as she patted Xiaobai, who had already run over to her side.
Shilo, focused on his training, noticed the Lady Saintess’s movements, but he didn’t pay it much mind. In his view, basking in the sun while sick was a good thing.
Under the warmth of the rising sun, the youth trained seriously while the young girl sat quietly and watched. The large dog lay obediently at her feet. Everything was quiet and beautiful.
***
After lunch.
Shilo arrived at the farm entrance, ready to leave. Just as he was about to say goodbye, he noticed that right after finishing her meal, the Lady Saintess was playing with a glowing Xiaobai…
Wait… why was it glowing?
The strange phenomenon made him pause, but seeing the Holy Light shining in the Saintess’s hand, he understood.
The golden Holy Light coated the dog’s fur in a soft layer of gold. Looking at it from a distance, it unexpectedly felt a bit… divine?
‘What a strange feeling…’
Shilo closed his eyes and shook his head, trying to toss the weird thought out of his mind. This action happened to catch Lintis’s curious gaze.
When he opened his eyes again, he happened to meet the Lady Saintess’s eyes.
Lintis hugged Xiaobai and showed a brilliant smile. “Shilo, is there anything else?”
Shilo was stunned. He didn’t say anything, just stared at that smile for a little longer. It wasn’t until the owner of the smile showed a confused expression that he snapped out of it and hurried to wave his hand.
“Lady Saintess, I was just curious about the golden light on that stupid dog.”
Mentioning this, Lintis chuckled and picked up Xiaobai. She trotted all the way to Shilo, held the dog up, and shook it slightly, saying quite proudly:
“It looks good, right? Actually, it was originally just a measure to protect Xiaobai, but I felt it was quite fun, so I put in a bit more Holy Power. Hehe… doesn’t it feel very divine? It’s definitely the kind of existence that if you passed it in a game, you’d have to go up and talk to it! This is my masterpiece~”
Looking at her enthusiastic appearance, Shilo felt a bit amused. To avoid being hit, he quickly turned around and intentionally said in a cold tone:
“Lady Saintess, I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I’m leaving now. Bye.”
Regarding Shilo’s coldness, Lintis let out a complaining “Ugh,” but the mood didn’t last long.
She watched Shilo’s receding back with a smile and shouted loudly, “Shilo, be careful on the road! Please go and return quickly~”
Hearing the sound from behind him, Shilo’s lips curled into a smile. He raised his hand and gave a light wave as a sign of goodbye.
After watching Shilo leave, Lintis took Xiaobai back into the wooden house and began the dishwashing task she had volunteered for…
The small figure was busy in the kitchen.
On the other side.
Shilo had already crossed the forest and entered Isol City. The journey was so smooth it made him feel a bit unaccustomed to it.
Every time he had gone into the city these past few days, the Lady Saintess had delayed him with all sorts of small actions. It almost made him forget that the farm was actually only a few minutes away from Isol City.
He shook his head and first went to the Adventurer’s Association to ask about the follow-up of the recent Filth incident. After confirming that the “Black Forest” had been reopened, he collected the reward handed over by the association staff and left.
During that time, some adventurers had the audacity to come up and ask him about the Saintess’s whereabouts, but he brushed them off with random excuses.
Once the official business was finished, it was time to execute the tasks assigned by the Lady Saintess.
Shilo pulled out a notebook. On one page, there were neat, elegant small characters—the shopping list and task list drafted by the Lady Saintess.
If someone who didn’t know the truth saw these words, they would probably think she was a quiet, domestic, good girl.
But unfortunately, the Lady Saintess was not such a quiet person.
Looking at the text in the notebook, Shilo mentally arranged an order of priority and then put it away.
He arrived at Sery’s clothing store and happened to see her cleaning at the entrance, so he stepped forward to greet her.
“Miss Sery.”
Sery, who was cleaning, looked up. Seeing it was Shilo, she intended to smile, but she ended up looking surprised instead.
“Little Shilo… did something good happen to you?”
“Why do you say that?” Shilo was a bit puzzled.
Sery hesitated for a few seconds and pointed to the corner of her own mouth. “Because you look very happy. I haven’t seen you smile this happily in a long time.”
Shilo was taken aback. He touched the corner of his mouth and only then realized that the curve that had formed since he left the farm hadn’t dropped once…
