Chapter 14: A Loving Family

“We’re not blood-related!” 

Su Xiaowei declared righteously. 

“I was adopted by Mom and Dad. It was on a snowy night…”

“?” 

Su Xiaocheng began to wonder if she herself was actually their biological child. 

How could such a huge matter have been kept from her?

“Anyway, it’s a long story. To make it short… never mind, I’m too lazy to explain. The important thing is that you only need to know this, Big Sister: what we have is completely, one hundred percent legal!”

Su Xiaowei took advantage of Su Xiaocheng’s stunned state and poked her fingers playfully into her body.

Su Xiaocheng murmured in a daze. Suddenly she snapped back to reality.

Having missed her chance, Su Xiaowei let out a regretful sigh.

Even after transforming, Big Sister still looked just as adorably airheaded as before. 

With a Big Sister like this, Su Xiaowei felt confident she could cuddle with her at least three times in one night.

The fact that her brother had turned into a sister didn’t matter much. 

Su Xiaowei hadn’t forgotten the real reason she came back. She calmed herself and continued questioning. 

“So, Big Sister, about the person you said you liked last time—what’s going on with that?”

“Oh, you mean Xiaolu? It’s fine, we’ve already worked things out.”

What did she mean they’d worked things out? Had she already come too late? 

Had Big Sister been completely trained by that mysterious bad woman into a total pushover?! (Tragic)

Just then, the sound of the door opening rang out once again.

“Xiaocheng, I got off work early and came to find you!”

Lu Yinxi walked in, intending to surprise Su Xiaocheng.

But seeing Su Xiaocheng with messy clothes, Su Xiaowei standing there in a villainous pose, and Xiaotuan trembling in the corner, she immediately sensed that things were not simple.

“Xiaolu, listen to me first! This is my little sister, Su Xiaowei. The current situation is all a misunderstanding!”

Lu Yinxi eyed Su Xiaowei with wary vigilance. 

She had a strong feeling that this sister-in-law had improper intentions toward her Xiaocheng.

On the surface, Su Xiaowei put on the appearance of a gentle, well-mannered, and adorable little sister. 

In reality, she was full of hostility toward Lu Yinxi: So this is the bad woman who stole Big Sister from me? 

She looks kind of familiar, but no matter who she is, no one is allowed to take my Big Sister away!

Seeing that the two weren’t about to start fighting on the spot, Su Xiaocheng breathed a sigh of relief and continued the introductions. 

“This is Lu Yinxi, my… girlfriend.”

Lu Yinxi stepped in front of Su Xiaocheng, openly declaring her ownership.

“Lu Yinxi… Lu Yinxi?” 

Su Xiaowei looked at the somewhat familiar face in front of her and her eyes lit up at the name. 

“The teenage idol singer, the shining new star Lu Yinxi?”

“Yes, that’s me. But…” 

Lu Yinxi hesitated slightly. 

“Where did you hear the title ‘Shining New Star’?”

“What shining new star? Xiaolu, that title sounds pretty nice. Is it what your fans call you?” Su Xiaocheng asked curiously.

Lu Yinxi shook her head. 

“It’s a title awarded to me by the Magical Girl Alliance.”

“Wow! Lady Shining New Star! I’m your fan!” 

Su Xiaowei did a complete 180 in attitude.

“?” 

A giant question mark appeared over Su Xiaocheng’s small head. 

She still didn’t quite understand what was happening, but the atmosphere felt like they could start making dumplings together any second.

A light cyan butterfly suddenly appeared in Su Xiaowei’s hair, looking like a vivid hair accessory.

With a flash of cyan light, Su Xiaowei transformed into her Magical Girl form.

Su Xiaocheng held her forehead with one hand and looked up at the ceiling at a 45-degree angle. 

“How come you’re a Magical Girl too, Xiaowei?”

Weren’t Magical Girls supposed to be extremely rare? 

Only a very small number of people could encounter the Contracted Clan, gain their approval, sign a contract, and become Magical Girls? 

Su Xiaocheng silently complained in her heart. 

At this rate, we could play Fight the Landlord with three players.

“Umm… actually, I became a Magical Girl two months ago. I met Afu at school. She thought I was very suitable and formed a contract with me. I didn’t tell you before because I was worried you’d be anxious about me.” 

Su Xiaowei explained.

“So the reason winter break ended late and the new semester started early was because of this?”

“Yeah… I wanted to stay home a few more days too, but Lin’an was also short on Magical Girls. Since I’m registered in Lin’an, I had to go there. But I’ve already applied to transfer. The reason I came back this time is to be stationed permanently in Anning City.”

Lu Yinxi thought about Su Xiaocheng’s strange contract and suddenly had a bad feeling. 

It seemed both sisters had rather peculiar Contract Prices.

Sensing the atmosphere turning delicate again, Su Xiaocheng quickly spoke up. 

“Xiaolu, didn’t you say this morning that you’d take me out after work? Where are we going to play?”

“Go out and have fun? Sounds great! Take me with you too, Big Sister!”

Lu Yinxi held up a pink-and-white Lolita dress.

“Too childish, isn’t it? Big Sister, look at this one.” Su Xiaowei picked up a white casual outfit.

Su Xiaocheng looked at the two smiling girls and chose the safe route of pleasing both sides. 

“I think… both are pretty good.”

“Then we’ll take both.” 

Lu Yinxi decisively swiped her card. Her thinking was very simple: It didn’t matter who chose what—as long as she was the one paying.

“Oh right, this one too. Xiaowei, you tried it on earlier and it looked good, right? We’ll take this as well.”

Lu Yinxi continued her spending spree.

Beep. “Payment successful.”

“This one is nice too. How about one for each of you sisters?”

“This gem hair clip suits both of you perfectly. Two of them, please.”

Several hours later, Su Xiaocheng and Su Xiaowei returned home. 

Several of Lu Yinxi’s black-suited bodyguards each carried a large box, piling them up in the living room.

“Big Sister… does Xiaolu always act like this?”

“Mm… She even wanted to buy me a villa, but I turned her down. I’m used to living here and don’t want to move.” 

Su Xiaocheng sighed helplessly.

Su Xiaowei let out a sigh. Although becoming a Magical Girl usually meant one wouldn’t lack for money, “not lacking money” was relative. 

Lu Yinxi’s way of doing things was simply too domineering. 

After just one afternoon, even she was starting to feel a little tempted.
