Chapter 7: You Go Chase Him

After letting go completely, Gu Bai now found the world around him to be incredibly relaxing.

Even the strange and fearful looks from those around him seemed much more tolerable.

However, Gu Mixue was not used to it.

She pouted and said, “Big Brother, after you saved that girl back then, you shouldn’t have gone straight to school… at least you should have gone home to change your clothes first.”

Seeing Gu Bai’s situation, Mixue naturally felt uneasy in her heart.

“There’s no medicine for regret in this world,” Gu Bai said with a nonchalant shrug.

He then turned to Mixue and added, “Your transfer procedures aren’t finished yet, right? I’ll take you to get them done.”

On the other side, Su Shuhao bit her lip as she looked at the half-finished bucket of instant noodles in front of her.

Now, here she was eating instant noodles—and to make matters worse, one of the seasoning packets was missing, making the taste so bland it was practically non-existent.

“Just my luck,” she muttered.

After stewing for a long time, she dumped the rest of the noodles into the toilet.

“I’m going back for a bit.”

Su Shuhao had no appetite at all.

The thought of that petite girl hugging Gu Bai’s arm fueled a massive fire in her heart.

He’s supposed to be mine, she murmured to herself as she walked toward her off-campus rental.

She needed to have a talk with her sister.

Before long, Su Shuhao arrived home.

Her sister, Su Wan’er, was currently packing her luggage.

As a freshman as well, she was dragging a massive suitcase.

Although it was heavy, she was persistently trying to move it inch by inch.

“Why is this wheel broken?”

Wan’er grumbled.

Then she noticed her sister standing in front of her, seemingly sizing her up.

“Sis? Is there something on my face?”

“No, nothing. Come inside with me.”

Su Shuhao grabbed her sister’s hand and led her into the bedroom.

Unlike Su Wan’er’s plain room, Su Shuhao’s bedroom was exquisite and magnificent, feeling very much like a princess’s suite.

Usually, she didn’t even allow Wan’er inside, but for some reason, she was making an exception today.

“Sis, why did you pull me in here?”

Wan’er knew her sister had found a wealthy boyfriend, so everything in her life—including this room—was packaged very delicately.

Su Shuhao took a deep breath, looked at her sister’s face, which shared a striking resemblance to her own, and said, “Su Wan’er, I need you to do me a favor.”

Seeing her sister look so solemn, Wan’er tilted her head in confusion.

She couldn’t imagine what her sister would need her help with.

Su Shuhao said with a grave expression, “I had a boyfriend for three years, right?”

“Yeah?”

Wan’er nodded.

“Didn’t you say you broke up yesterday? Why bring this up suddenly?”

Facing Wan’er’s confused look, Su Shuhao gritted her teeth and made a firm decision.

“I need you to help me win him back.”

“Huh?”

Wan’er was stunned.

She pointed at herself.

“Me?”

“Yes. You’ll pretend to be me and go ask for a reconciliation. Don’t worry, he doesn’t know I have a sister.”

Su Shuhao wasn’t making this decision to tease her sister.

Wan’er looked very similar to her, and Su Shuhao knew her own personality well enough to know that lowering her head to Gu Bai herself was practically impossible.

Admitting defeat wasn’t a matter of capability, but a matter of willingness.

But hearing this, Wan’er was naturally unwilling.

“Wan’er, didn’t you come to Nanjiang University specifically to find the person who saved you? I’m an officer in the Student Union; I have the connections and resources to help you. If you rely on yourself, you might not find that person even by graduation.”

Threatened by her sister, Wan’er looked timid.

She clutched the corner of her clothes and responded, “No… I can’t help…”

However, Su Shuhao wasn’t listening.

She pulled out a photo and showed it to her sister.

“You’ve just arrived at Nanjiang University and aren’t familiar with the place. This is a photo of the person you’re going to help me chase. His name is Gu Bai. Remember, you’re going to find him using my identity to reconcile, understood?”

Su Shuhao forcefully shoved the photo into Wan’er’s hand.

The latter looked down at the photo, and her eyes instantly froze.

Su Wan’er had expected to search Nanjiang University for a long time to find the boy who had saved her from those thugs years ago.

To her shock, before school had even started, she had already found him.

The only unfortunate part was that he happened to be her sister’s ex-boyfriend.

“You can pick any clothes you want here,” Su Shuhao said.

“I’m busy preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam lately, so I don’t have time to look for Gu Bai. Just boldly pretend to be me and go find him.”

Wan’er looked at the wardrobe with a complex expression. Knowing these clothes were all bought by Gu Bai for her sister made her feel a strange sense of injustice.

“Oh, right,” Su Shuhao added, perhaps worried Wan’er wouldn’t put in the effort.

She offered a “carrot” after the “stick.”

“Wan’er, if you can get Gu Bai back, I can give you half of the allowance he gives me.”

In the past, a portion of the money Gu Bai earned from part-time jobs was taken by Su Shuhao under the pretext that “women are better at managing finances.”
