Chapter 58: Arguing

“What… do you want to investigate?” Kiz asked, her eyes wide.

“Those images are related to the Holy Grail Order… they have to be… I need to go find them and ask for answers…” Elia took a deep breath and said with determined eyes.

Hearing this, Kiz’s expression immediately changed. “Are you insane? That’s the Holy Grail Order! They’re searching the whole world for you right now!”

“I know, but I have to go… Those images… they’re getting clearer. I feel like they’re my lost memories. I have to know the truth.”

However, Kiz responded coldly, “No. I absolutely do not agree.”

A flood of negative emotions rushed into Elia’s mind, but she forced them down. “Kiz, listen to me…”

“I won’t listen! Do you… do you even know what the Holy Grail Order is? It’s one of the most dangerous organizations in the entire Dream Spirit Continent! Those maniacs research Taboo Magic, conduct human experiments… they’ll do any depraved, insane thing! And they’re looking for you! How is going there any different from throwing your life away?”

“I have the Holy Sword,” Elia said solemnly.

“That Holy Sword can only be drawn for ten seconds! What happens after ten seconds? Have you thought about that? Have you thought about what I would do if something happened to you?”

Then, Elia fell silent.

“Do you know how worried I am about you every day? I see you spacing out, having nightmares… that empty look in your eyes… I wish I could bear all of it for you! And now you want to go throw your life away? How am I supposed to accept that?”

Kiz’s voice grew louder and louder as she spoke.

Elia knew Kiz was so frantic because she cared about her, but she had her own hardships… Those images and fragments were driving her mad.

They appeared every night, and each time she woke up with a splitting headache.

She even felt like she was gradually losing control… If things continued like this, she would likely completely break down.

So she said very seriously, “Kiz, I know the chance of survival is likely less than one percent, but I have to try.”

“You actually know it’s less than one percent! You…” Kiz was so angry she couldn’t finish her sentence, and her heart felt as if it were being sliced by thousands of blades.

She just stared fixedly at Elia.

After staring for a while, she laughed—a cold, bitter laugh.

“So you’ve already decided, right? No matter what I say, you’ll go.”

“I…”

Just as Elia was about to speak, Kiz cut her off. “Enough. You don’t care about my feelings at all, do you?”

“What?”

“You only care about yourself! You want to know the truth, you want to recover your memories, but have you ever thought about me? What would I do if you died?!”

“I won’t die.”

“How do you know you won’t die? Do you know how many powerful individuals are in the Holy Grail Order? Do you know how many traps are in their forbidden grounds? You… you know nothing, yet you’re rushing off to die on impulse!” Perhaps due to prolonged mental stress, Kiz’s tone grew increasingly sharp.

At that moment, Elia’s temper flared too. “Then what do you want me to do? Be tormented by nightmares every day like this? Spacing out like a wooden doll every day? I’ve really had enough! I have to go!”

“I forbid you to go!”

“On what grounds do you forbid me?”

“On the grounds that you’re mine! So… so I forbid you to go die!”

“That’s just a contract!” The words escaped Elia’s lips.

And the moment she said it, she regretted it.

The expression on Kiz’s face instantly froze, her eyes filled with disbelief… Finally, she asked through gritted teeth, “Just… a contract?”

Elia opened her mouth, wanting to explain that it wasn’t like that.

But Kiz couldn’t hear it now. In the coldest tone, she said, “Fine… fine… just a contract… Then what am I? Tell me, what am I! Your Blood Bag? Your toy?”

“Kiz, that’s not what I meant…”

“Then what did you mean?” Kiz stepped closer to her. “Tell me!”

Elia took a step back.

Because in Kiz’s eyes, which were more bloodshot than ever before, a light named madness was burning, making Elia feel inexplicably afraid.

“I…”

Kiz suddenly grabbed her wrist, and her sharp nails dug into Elia’s skin, causing blood to seep out.

“Does it hurt?” Kiz asked softly.

Elia endured the pain without saying a word.

A tear fell from Kiz’s eye as she gritted her teeth and said, “Do you know? My heart hurts a hundred times… a thousand times… ten thousand times more than this…”

Then she let go and turned to leave.

Elia instinctively grabbed her. “Kiz, don’t go—”

“Let go!” Kiz forcefully shook off her hand, and some force caused the nails to carve several deeper gashes on Elia’s arm.

Elia gasped in pain but still didn’t let go, even shouting, “I won’t let go!”

Kiz turned around and stared at her with the iciest gaze, saying in a low voice, “Then fight me… If you win, I’ll listen to you properly.”

Perhaps Elia also needed to vent the suppressed negative emotions in her heart. She nodded slightly and said, “Fine.”

Then, Kiz quickly pounced, her fingers spread wide as she clawed at Elia.

Elia sidestepped to dodge the attack, grabbing Kiz’s hair with her other hand and yanking hard.

Kiz yelped in pain and bit Elia’s shoulder.

Elia punched Kiz in the stomach.

This fight had no Magic, only the purest physical attacks.

After an unknown amount of time, both of them collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

Kiz lay on top of Elia, panting heavily.

Elia was also gasping for breath.

But compared to Kiz, she couldn’t even stand up.

She was clearly stronger than Kiz, yet she couldn’t win in pure hand-to-hand combat…

For a while, the two just stared at each other without speaking.

Then, Kiz slowly got up and staggered toward the door.

“Kiz…” Elia wanted to call her back.

But this time, Kiz didn’t look back, leaving only one sentence: “You lost.”

After Kiz left, Elia, lying on the floor, closed her eyes.

And now, having calmed down, she was enveloped in a flood of regret.

What… had she just said? Just a contract?

How could she have said such a thing?
