Chapter 22: Let’s Play an Interactive Game!

Whether it was just her imagination or not, the black cat seemed to have gained a little weight recently… At least, that was how Luo Yunzhi saw it. 

She no longer resembled a stray cat at all.

The corners of her mouth lifted into a faint smile. 

Before Bai Ziyu could react, she scooped her up and flipped the black cat onto her back.

Her soft belly was exposed, looking exceptionally fluffy and plush.

“Meow?”

What?

The black cat was slightly puzzled at first, but what followed was complete shock mixed with strong disgust.

Luo Yunzhi lowered her head without any hesitation and buried her face against the cat, sniffing vigorously. 

The black cat froze in place, her entire body going stiff.

After rubbing and sniffing for quite a while, the girl finally lifted her head in great satisfaction. 

She rubbed her nose and let out a silly giggle.

“Kitty is the best!”

“Meow!”

Pervert!

Bai Ziyu seized the opportunity and darted off the windowsill like she was escaping for her life. 

She quickly jumped onto a high spot and only relaxed once she was there.

She looked down at Luo Yunzhi with a hint of anger in her eyes. 

The black cat arched her back, letting out a sharp hiss from her mouth.

Luo Yunzhi was stunned for a moment.

Then she looked awkwardly embarrassed.

“Sorry… I got carried away.” 

She blinked. 

Although this didn’t seem to be the first time the black cat had hissed at her, and she hadn’t extended her claws threateningly.

Still, if she did something wrong, she should correct it. 

Even for a pet, one should admit fault: “I just got too excited when I saw you.”

“How about this? To make it up to you, I’ll go buy you some delicious treats later. Sound good?”

Luo Yunzhi said. The scent of the black cat still lingered in her breath.

It was an indescribable feeling.

Something like sunshine, perhaps.

“Meow?”

Really?

“Of course it’s real.”

“Meow.”

Fine then.

The arched back slowly relaxed. 

The fur that had puffed up and become even fluffier gradually settled back down, no longer resembling a floating dandelion.

Bai Ziyu wasn’t actually that angry. 

After all, humans always liked doing strange things to cats. 

This kind of behavior was almost unavoidable.

However, using this chance to warn her a few times so she would restrain herself in the future was naturally a good thing. 

She really didn’t want to be hugged and sniffed every day.

The black cat kneaded her little paw pads.

She jumped back down to the floor.

“Huh? You’ve forgiven me already?”

Seeing the black cat jump back onto the windowsill, Luo Yunzhi smiled gently, her tone carrying a hint of pleasant surprise.

She softly stroked the cat’s head with her hand. 

Her movements were even gentler than usual, as if she was afraid of upsetting her little pet again.

The black cat didn’t want to respond to the girl. She simply lay on the windowsill basking in the sun. 

That warmth made her mood calm down involuntarily.

After a brief pause, she turned her eyes toward Luo Yunzhi, who was standing beside her looking out the window. 

Her thoughts inevitably became a little chaotic.

I thought too optimistically before… Only now do I realize I probably can’t work at all. 

Even if I transform into human form, I’d be a cat-eared girl or something like that.

If my real identity gets discovered, I might get captured for research. 

In a worse case, some pervert might just buy me.

I can only rely on her for now.

The black cat sighed softly.

At least as a temporary owner, Luo Yunzhi was barely passable in her mind. 

Even though her cooking tasted bad, she was trying very hard.

Mm… and it kept getting worse.

The black cat felt somewhat disdainful.

Luo Yunzhi didn’t notice Bai Ziyu’s expression. After gazing out the window for a while, she lost interest. 

After all, the scenery outside never seemed to change.

The girl withdrew her gaze, sat down on the sofa, and stared blankly at the black cat. 

Having this sudden holiday actually left her with nothing to do?

Luo Yunzhi’s expression turned a bit strange. Her fingertips touched the phone right beside her. 

She picked it up, but just as she was about to turn on the screen, she stopped.

There wasn’t really anything interesting to scroll through on the video apps.

She flopped backward.

“Ugh~ I’m so bored~”

The girl’s voice sounded listless. 

She was usually so busy that now that she finally had free time, it felt surprisingly dull. 

It seemed like there was nothing for her to do.

She propped her cheek on her hand, sighing repeatedly. 

The things that occupied her during busy times now failed to hold her attention at all.

Maybe she was sick?

She couldn’t help but laugh at herself.

“Little White, you must be bored too, right?”

Luo Yunzhi spoke.

“You look sleepy again.”

Before she even finished speaking, the black cat who had been sunbathing on the windowsill let out a big yawn. 

This caused the girl to yawn as well involuntarily.

Wiping the tears from the corner of her eye with her fingertip, Luo Yunzhi poked at the black cat’s fur out of boredom, as if doing so could bring her some entertainment.

The black cat only felt lazy. 

She rolled around on the windowsill, nearly falling off at one point, but still managed to steady herself with her agile body.

“Meow.”

It really is quite boring.

“Meow~”

Sigh~

For once, Bai Ziyu rarely agreed with Luo Yunzhi’s words. She rolled over again and looked at the girl in front of her with expectant eyes.

“Meow.”

So what should we do?

“I understand, Little White.” 

The girl nodded. She clearly understood what the black cat meant. 

After thinking for a moment, her eyes suddenly lit up.

“How about… we play a game!” 

Luo Yunzhi’s mood suddenly became excited, her eyes sparkling. 

Yet for some reason, it gave the black cat an ominous premonition.

“Let’s play an interactive game!”

“Meow… Meow?”

Bai Ziyu’s ominous premonition had come true… Or rather, it was ominous for her, but for a normal cat, it probably wouldn’t be a big deal.

Right now, for example, the girl named Luo Yunzhi was squatting excitedly with a ball of yarn in her hands, pushing it toward the black cat again and again.

“Little White, do you like this?”

The girl’s tone was full of pride as she shook the yarn ball, looking as if she had already won.

If things went as expected, a simple little cat like the black cat would definitely wiggle her butt and pounce on the yarn ball to play.

After all, that’s what the internet said.

Could it be wrong?

But Bai Ziyu just stared at her speechlessly. She wasn’t a real cat—why would she like yarn balls? 

Although she had indeed inherited some feline habits.

But even if she were to play with yarn… it should at least be blue. 

What was with this delicate pink color? 

As someone who used to be a manly guy, there was no way she could accept this.

The black cat simply turned her head away.

Too lazy to even look at her.

“Huh? You don’t like it?” 

Luo Yunzhi tilted her head, looking genuinely confused. 

She held the yarn ball and bit her lip, unwilling to give up.

“This is really fun, you know.” 

The girl unraveled part of the pink yarn ball and wiggled the end like a little snake.

“This matches your hunting instincts, right?” 

Luo Yunzhi draped the yarn over the black cat’s paw. 

“Sss sss sss~ This is your little prey~”

The black cat twitched the corners of her mouth.

Then, she simply raised her front paw.

And swatted the yarn ball flying away.
