“That’s really cute. By the way, are you sure your hand is okay? That hit looked pretty heavy.”
The iron ball covered in a soft membrane flying over—how was that any different from a nerfed cannonball?
Yuriko must have been hurt after getting hit by that thing.
Yuriko raised her hand and showed her palm.
The skin of her fingers was smooth as jade, and the calluses on her palm had been worn away when she caught the ball.
The new skin that had grown back was extremely tender.
“If I had to say something’s wrong, it’s that my hand got softer after healing.”
Yuriko sighed.
That meant when she used her mace to hit people later, it would hurt her hand, and she’d have to get used to it again.
Carmilla held Yuriko’s hand and squeezed her palm.
It was indeed soft, different from before.
“Mmm, that tickles.”
Yuriko pulled her hand back.
When Carmilla rubbed her fingers over her palm, it felt itchy.
She looked up at the darkening sky and said, “Let’s hurry to the next club. We should finish checking the remaining clubs within half an hour so we can get home early.”
“Okay.”
Shengxiu Academy had a lot of clubs.
Even though they were only responsible for checking a portion of them, nearly an hour had passed.
Large clubs basically didn’t need supervision.
What required attention were the small clubs that had been established not long ago and had small membership.
These clubs weren’t necessarily activity clubs formed by like-minded people; they might also be groups formed by people who just wanted a place to slack off, like using a club room.
After working for half an hour, only one club remained on the list—the Potion Club.
The members of this club liked to brew rare or unique potions.
The members were all alchemists obsessed with potion-making or others with related professions.
Because they arrived too late, the club’s activities had already ended.
When Yuriko entered the club, they had already started cleaning up.
“Are you the student council members here for inspection… Ah, I recognize you! You’re the new senior Ruri, right?”
A member of the Potion Club recognized Yuriko.
This had happened several times during their inspection tour.
After all, Yuriko was a well-known figure on campus, but she mostly only interacted with students in her own grade, so students from other grades hadn’t met her in person and could only identify her through photos.
“That’s me. Looks like we’re late… Where’s your club president?”
Yuriko asked.
“The club president? She drank a potion she brewed herself and has been sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.”
The member said flatly.
“?”
Without needing to speak, Yuriko’s face was full of question marks.
That sounded like a serious matter, so why did it sound like a common occurrence coming from this person’s mouth?
Seeing Yuriko’s confusion, the member waved a hand and said, “Oh, don’t worry about it. It happens all the time. The president has high poison resistance; she won’t die.”
Well, that club president sure has a tough life.
“I see. Hope she’s okay…”
Yuriko gave a casual blessing, then continued, “So what potion did you brew today?”
“Today we brewed a potion found in an ancient text. It has the effect of stimulating special bloodlines, making the beast traits of some half-beastmen more prominent. It’s also effective for half-vampires and half-demons.”
The member pointed to several potion bottles on an alchemy table.
One of them was already opened and half drunk.
“So your club president got stimulated by the bloodline and lost control?”
“No, we’re all ordinary humans. Where would we have bloodlines? The president was just curious what would happen if someone without a bloodline drank it. The result was she started foaming at the mouth and passed out.”
After hearing that, Yuriko thought the Potion Club president was really bold, daring to use herself as a guinea pig.
Yuriko recorded the inspection results and added a suggestion at the end: advising the Potion Club members not to casually drink potions with unknown effects.
After recording, she looked at the members cleaning up the vessels and proactively said, “Is there anything I can help with?”
“Really? Perfect, we’re short-handed. Could you please move these two boxes of materials to the warehouse? It’s at the first corner to the right after you exit.”
A Potion Club member pushed over a flatbed cart stacked with two large boxes of materials.
“But we’re not familiar with herbal classification. We might put things in the wrong place.”
At least Yuriko hadn’t studied herbalism; she didn’t recognize these materials at all.
“That’s fine. If you don’t know where to put something, just toss it in a corner. We’ll handle it later.”
“Alright.”
Yuriko pushed the cart out of the Potion Club and headed to the warehouse following the member’s directions.
The warehouse door was ajar, and a light push opened it.
Yuriko and Carmilla pushed the cart inside and noticed that the space inside was much larger than it appeared from outside.
In the seventy or eighty square meter space, shelves were filled with all kinds of strange herbs and some spare alchemy equipment.
“This potion was brewed today, so let’s put it on an empty shelf.”
Yuriko placed the newly brewed potion on an empty shelf near the entrance, then she and Carmilla searched the warehouse for the right places to store the herbs.
Just one potion required over a dozen types of herbs.
Even with two people, it took them a long time to put everything back.
“Found the last one. Alright, we’re done!”
Yuriko clapped her hands and planned to go straight home.
Carmilla went to the warehouse door and pushed it.
It didn’t budge.
“Huh, it won’t open?”
Carmilla pushed harder, but the door remained still.
“Maybe it’s rusty and hard to push?”
Yuriko thought Carmilla was just too weak to open the door, but when she tried herself, she realized the door had been locked from the outside.
“No way, it seems like it’s locked from outside!”
Yuriko slapped the door hard, but it was a thick steel door and barely made any sound.
“Hey, is anyone there!”
Yuriko tried shouting.
After trying for a while, there was no sound from outside.
It seemed the person who locked the door had already left.
“What do we do? It doesn’t seem like anyone will pass by here?”
Carmilla said.
This warehouse was in the innermost corner of the building; normally no one would pass by.
“Sigh, then let’s ask for help.”
Yuriko took out her phone, scrolled through her chat list, and thought about who to ask for help.
This kind of small matter probably wasn’t worth bothering her sister, so the only suitable person left was Olesia.
After all, she was stuck here because of the work Olesia had assigned her.
She sent a message to Olesia, who quickly replied, saying she had already notified someone from the Potion Club to come open the door.
