“According to the contract, you no longer have the right to demand payment from me! And until I agree, you can’t get a taste of my body either—though of course, me agreeing to that is absolutely impossible!”
Moya’s feathery ears were still twitching excitedly, completely unaware that the Aide across from her had already gone expressionless.
“So what Miss Moya means is that after signing that contract, I can no longer collect the tens of millions in debt you owe?”
“That’s right!”
‘The way I see it, if he can play the contract game, so can I. That Aide guy has no martial honor—cheating and sneaking around. He signed me into a trap worth tens of millions, so I’ll sign a contract that makes it impossible for him to collect anything from either side!’
“I understand.”
Aide’s face darkened as he stepped closer to Moya, one step at a time.
“Then, according to the contract’s terms, there shouldn’t be any problem with me urging Miss Moya to fulfill the condition of handing over your body, right?”
“Wh-what are you trying to do? I told you, you need my consent! You can’t just force yourself on me!”
Only then did she realize Aide’s aura was off.
Moya’s heart skipped a beat, and the sense of foreboding grew stronger with each step he took toward her, while she unconsciously backed away.
“You’re right. But just because you won’t consent doesn’t mean I can’t force you to!”
He cornered Moya against the wall and grabbed her slender wrist.
“Eek!”
The petite Moya was instantly lifted off the ground entirely by Aide.
“Hey! What are you doing!”
Suspended in Aide’s grip, Moya flailed and glared at him fiercely.
“I’m warning you—though guardian angels can’t actively harm humans, I’m more than capable of defending myself!”
Having planned her scheme that afternoon, Moya had already steeled herself for his anger, fully aware that the tricked man might resort to underhanded tactics.
But Moya wasn’t one to be trifled with either.
She was one of the Lord’s most favored guardian angels, and her combat strength was no joke.
The only problem was the restriction preventing her from actively attacking humans.
But passive counterattacks were perfectly fine.
‘That’s my trump card!’
Moya refused to believe that some nameless debt collector who came out of nowhere could possibly beat her.
“Are you that happy to have tricked me?”
Aide’s expression grew colder, his left hand gripping Moya’s wrist tighter and tighter.
‘Why does he look at me with that betrayed, resentful look?’
Moya didn’t understand Aide’s feelings.
She replied without a shred of guilt:
“So what? You’re a loan shark who cheats people out of tons of money every day. Today I tricked you once—are you actually feeling sorry for yourself?”
Hearing Moya’s response, Aide was momentarily stunned, his rising fury hitting the brakes.
‘I really haven’t explained my identity to Moya yet, so in her eyes, I’m just the villain who lent her follower that high-interest loan and came to collect the transferred debt.’
“…”
But he still couldn’t let it slide.
Aide immediately shoved Moya to the ground, turning her back toward him.
‘She needs to be taught a lesson. I can’t let her develop a habit of lying and deceiving.’
“How dare you! Do you think my warning was just hot air?!”
With her face pressed hard against the floor by Aide, Moya was truly enraged now.
‘If I don’t show my claws, you think I’m a sick kitten?’
Without holding back, Moya instantly conjured a holy word formation in her hand.
Five holy light bullets slammed into Aide, producing a thunderous boom!
‘Easy peasy.’
‘Those five simultaneous holy light blasts should be enough to keep this debt collector Aide laid up for a while to recover.’
Of course, Moya was confident she could have instantly killed the young man—not because she lacked the power, but because she was merciful.
But the grip on her wrist didn’t loosen.
As the white smoke from the holy light bombardment cleared, what met Moya’s eyes was an unscathed Aide.
“Th-this… how is that possible!”
It was the second event of the day that shattered Moya’s worldview.
It was the first time she’d ever seen a creature take five of her holy light bullets without a scratch.
“You even tried to resort to violence. That’s another offense.”
Aide’s cold pronouncement echoed above Moya’s head.
‘Why can he be immune to my holy light? This isn’t fair!’
Moya’s mind raced frantically, racking her brain to find a reason why Aide could shrug off her attacks.
Suddenly, a boring memory from guardian angel training class surfaced in her mind.
Guardian angels cannot actively harm humans, but passive counterattacks are allowed.
However, there is one type of human that a guardian angel absolutely cannot harm under any circumstances—so much so that the laws of the world itself prevent them from even dealing damage.
The Hero.
“Y-you… you’re not saying you’re a Hero, are you?!”
“You guessed right.”
Slap!
A heavy smack landed on Moya’s bottom.
“Ow!”
Feeling the searing pain on her rear, Moya’s pupils shot wide open.
“If you can’t pay back the debt, then you can’t pay it back. With such a high debt, if you had just been sincere and willing to sit down and talk it out, a debt forgiveness wasn’t off the table.”
Aide’s voice grew icier, but Moya could clearly hear the anger beneath his cold tone.
“So why did you have to use this method to avoid my debt?”
Beneath the cold fury, there was also a note of bewilderment in Aide’s thoughts.
‘The Moya I saw in my dream was a guardian angel, petite yet radiating a divine, motherly grace.’
‘But the Moya I meet in reality… I can’t say they’re worlds apart—it’s more like they’re completely different people.’
‘If it weren’t for their identical faces, I’d almost wonder if I had the wrong person.’
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.
If they really were the same person, why did she have to treat him like this?
Slap!
Another heavy smack landed on Moya’s bottom.
“Boo-hoo-hoo, I know I was wrong! It’s all my fault! Don’t hit me anymore! Any more hits and the kid’s brain will be knocked silly!”
Feeling the humiliating pain on both sides of her rear, Moya couldn’t hold out any longer and begged Aide for mercy.
‘Dammit, this is all the Lord’s fault! If that stupid light orb hadn’t engraved this law onto all guardian angels, would I be this pathetic?!’
‘It’s not me that ruined me—it’s this dogshit divine will!’
Even as anger churned inside her, Moya’s plea for mercy came out as soft and syrupy as possible.
It was shameful, but highly effective—at least Aide, who had been about to smack her bottom again, seemed to cool down and stopped his hand.
‘Heh, so easy to soothe?’
“Brother Aide, I know you have the kindest heart. Please be magnanimous and let me off this once, okay?”
Seeing Moya’s tear-streaked face, Aide rubbed his chin, thought for a moment, then answered seriously:
“No.”
“You need to learn your lesson this time so you won’t dare trick me again.”
‘This guy holds grudges like no other!’
“There is a limit to forbearance!”
Seeing her softening strategy fail, Moya roared, flapped her wings, and summoned a grand divine formation that rose from the ground.
She poured every bit of divine magic knowledge she had into one final act of defiance:
Running away.
‘If I can’t beat you, I can sure as hell outfly you!’
