Chapter 3: The Guide

After hearing Aurora’s request, Noah hesitated.

This girl named Aurora didn’t seem easy to get along with.

She didn’t know her true identity, so she couldn’t directly tell her about her amnesia.

After much hesitation, Noah replied.

“Actually, it’s nothing much. I was attacked by robbers on my way home, got knocked out, and woke up here.”

“So you were kidnapped… No wonder…”

Aurora seemed to accept that answer.

She nodded.

“Alright, if you can let me out, I can take you to the main gate.”

Noah was satisfied with Aurora’s answer.

“Okay, what should I do?”

Aurora pointed at the laser emitter above the room’s door.

“First, you need to deal with the mechanism at the door. I obtained a map of this area using a special method. You need to go to the power supply room and pull the main switch, then destroy the backup power supply… and finally…”

Noah sighed softly.

Under Aurora’s astonished gaze, Noah raised the metal ruler in her hand.

She thrust the sharp top into the laser emitter window above.

After a piercing electrical screech, the red laser gradually dimmed and then vanished completely.

Aurora’s mouth hung slightly open as she stared at the top of the door in disbelief.

“Th-That’s it?”

Noah raised an eyebrow.

“Were you hoping for some kind of ritual? Hurry up and get out.”

“You really are something…”

Aurora first tested the door’s reaction with her finger, then jumped out once she confirmed it was safe.

She straightened her robe and extended her hand to Noah.

“It’s an honor to meet you. What’s the beautiful lady’s name?”

“I’m Noah.”

Noah shook her hand.

“Then I’ll trouble you to lead the way.”

Noah really didn’t want to stay in this place for a single moment.

That whole God-Making Project sounded nothing short of suicidal, and the place was full of traps—no place for a normal person.

But Aurora didn’t move immediately.

She spoke with a serious expression.

“Hold on. We’re not the only ones here. There are many failures lurking in other areas. You’re not planning to fight them with that ruler, are you?”

Noah looked at the metal ruler in her hand.

It didn’t look like something that could be used in combat, but it was the most lethal weapon she could find.

Noah sighed helplessly, fiddling with the ruler.

“Then what do you suggest?”

Aurora smiled slightly, then walked past Noah in the direction she had come from.

“Follow me, beautiful Noah. I’ll take you to find some proper tools first.”

“Proper tools… weapons?”

“Yes.”

“Do you mean… if we encounter other failures, we’ll have to fight them?”

Noah asked with a frown.

“Isn’t that obvious?”

Aurora asked back as she walked.

“Why?”

Noah was puzzled.

“For resources. This research institute’s resources have all been emptied by the Truth Organization.”

Without waiting for Noah, Aurora had already walked farther away.

She spoke without turning back.

“Water, food, weapons, clothes, all these resources are severely lacking. Even women count as resources, and a beauty like you even more so. If you don’t want to be tortured to death by those stinky men, you’d better come with me.”

Noah hesitated for a moment, then followed.

If what she said was true, then there was no order here.

After a few turns along the corridor, they stopped in front of a room.

Aurora pointed at the door and said with certainty, “It’s here. There are weapons we need inside.”

The door was closed, and there was a password lock outside.

On the way, Noah had passed many empty rooms.

She had checked every open one but found no useful supplies.

Most of the doors here were locked.

Without the password, she couldn’t open them, so Noah couldn’t think of a way in.

“So, do you know the password?”

Noah turned to ask her.

“No, I don’t need to know.”

Aurora spread her hands.

“You may not be aware, but the door’s password is displayed on the screen inside the room. As long as you can see the room’s screen, you’ll know the password.”

‘The password is inside the door, but you can’t see it without opening it. But if you could open the door, why would you need the password?’

“What a brain-dead design…”

Noah complained weakly.

“So, what do you plan to do?”

“Hold on.”

Aurora adjusted her robe and smiled confidently.

“Do you think my mage robe is just for looks? I’m a real mage!”

As she spoke, Aurora began to channel magical power.

A blue light flickered in her eyes.

She said with a focused expression, “I’ll just use magic to control a spirit and take a look inside. I’ll know the password right away.”

‘A mage…’

Noah watched Aurora, who had closed her eyes and was casting a spell.

She knew what magic was, but she couldn’t recall her identity through the keyword ‘magic.’

Even now, she still didn’t know who she was.

After a moment, Aurora opened her eyes.

She first steadied her breathing, then reached out and entered the password on the lock: 0135.

The password was correct.

The door immediately slid into the wall.

Noah marveled at the wonder of magic, then followed Aurora into the room.

Aurora pointed at a corpse leaning in the corner of the room.

“Here, this is the weapon we’re looking for.”

Noah didn’t understand.

The corpse didn’t look like it could be used as a weapon.

She thought for a moment and said instinctively, “Hmm… so you want me to rip off his arm and swing it at people?”

“Heh heh…”

Aurora gave a dry laugh, her mouth twitching expressionlessly.

“Didn’t know you had a sense of humor…”

With that, Aurora reached into her robe and pulled out a coin.

She flicked it lightly, then said to Noah, “Here, watch closely.”

Under Noah’s gaze, Aurora placed the coin in the corpse’s palm.

The next moment, the coin gradually melted, reformed, and finally turned into a bullet.

“Like this.”

Aurora picked up the bullet and showed it to Noah.

“This corpse is the failure product [A0135]. It has the ability to convert small metal objects it touches into firearm weapons. But the fact that it can still convert weapons now is just a final flicker. Let’s see if there are any suitable items for it to convert. No time to waste—let’s search separately.”
