Another thing was that although Mom had put all her points into Vitality and was as thick as an ox,
if an extremely rare individual slime mutated and acquired some strange venom or curse skill…
And if there was a sneak attack or a stray hit, the detection range of several kilometers was enough to give ample reaction time.
In short, no matter how unlikely an accident might be, they had to plan for every contingency.
“Go, Mom, treat it like chopping vegetables,” Primrose encouraged.
“Oh~!” Lin Naiyue raised the heavy Moon Sword, stepped forward, and charged toward the few blue slimes.
“Yah—!” Lin Naiyue shouted to boost her own courage.
Hearing the noise, the slimes stopped bouncing, turned around, and faced the charging Lin Naiyue with their eyeless bodies.
Lin Naiyue sprinted to within two meters of the slimes, then abruptly halted.
She looked at the plump, squishy blue jellies on the ground, glistening with moisture, and her maternal instincts surged again.
“They’re way too cute. Do I really have to cut them?” Lin Naiyue muttered softly.
“Mom! Don’t hesitate! Their slime can dissolve clothes. While they still have no desire to attack, cut them, or your clothes will be gone!” Primrose shouted from behind.
Lin Naiyue clenched her teeth and shut her eyes.
She didn’t dare watch the slimes get chopped up, so she just swung the sword by feel.
With her eyes tightly closed, her face scrunched up, turning into two large > < signs.
“Ehh!” Lin Naiyue swung the Moon Sword with both hands, slashing blindly in front of her.
The blade cut through the air with a whoosh.
It didn’t even graze the slimes.
Startled by the sudden commotion, the slimes hopped backward.
Sensing she had missed, Lin Naiyue took another step forward and continued swinging blindly with her eyes shut.
“Ehh!”
Another slash hit the grass, slicing off a patch of turf.
“Ehh!”
The third slash struck a nearby rock, causing the stone to explode.
Although these slimes were low-level monsters, they still possessed the most primal instinct to sense danger.
They keenly smelled the dangerous aura permeating the air.
The danger wasn’t from the little girl swinging her sword blindly right in front of them.
Even though she held the weapon, her swings were completely unstructured and devoid of killing intent.
The real danger came from the silver-haired girl standing not far away, Primrose.
And the two women beside her, Cecilia and Yuna.
The slimes’ instincts told them that if they didn’t run, they would definitely die a horrible death.
So the leading slime let out a gurgling cry and turned to flee.
The others quickly followed suit, bouncing away from Lin Naiyue.
Hearing the commotion, Lin Naiyue opened one eye to peek.
“Huh? Why are they running?” Lin Naiyue was stunned for a moment, then snapped back to reality. “Don’t run! Primrose said I have to defeat you!”
Lin Naiyue raised her sword and gave chase.
Thus, on the outskirts of Tattle Town, an extremely bizarre and comical chase unfolded.
A few blue slimes bounced desperately ahead, their round bodies flickering in and out of the grass.
Lin Naiyue, wearing ill-fitting armor and holding a long sword taller than herself, chased after them, panting heavily.
As she ran, she continued to swing blindly with her eyes shut.
“Ehh! Don’t run!”
“Even! Stop right there!”
“Ehh! Let me cut you once!”
With every swing of her sword, she let out an instinctive “Ehh.”
The sound was soft and completely lacking in intimidation, almost like she was acting spoiled.
Primrose stood in place, watching the scene, bent her arm, and pressed her hand to her forehead in pain.
“What exactly was I expecting…” Primrose couldn’t bear to watch.
This wasn’t a hero slaying monsters; this was clearly a kindergartener catching dragonflies…
If she compared the Moon Sword in her mother’s hand to a net pole for catching insects, paired with that wild swinging motion, wouldn’t that make more sense?
Cecilia, on the other hand, watched with great interest, a smile on her face.
“As expected of Lord Hero. Even the way she pursues monsters is adorable.”
Cecilia cupped her cheeks. “The mother of the Goddess is truly extraordinary.”
“Lady Saint is absolutely right,” Yuna chimed in.
Right, my foot!
Please don’t flatter everything.
Primrose’s lips twitched. How did a perfectly good combat exercise turn into this??
Just as Lin Naiyue was chasing the slimes all over the field, the situation suddenly changed.
The detection spell that Primrose had deployed sensed a surge of energy.
Teleportation magic?
And on top of that… an evil-attribute magic signature exclusive to the Demon Race!
Fire, Water, Grass, Wind, Light, Dark, Ice…
Unlike the Dark attribute within conventional magic elements, the Evil attribute was exclusive to the Demon Race—a pure, malevolent magic that was very easy to identify.
Just then, the leading slime suddenly stopped dead.
Its round body trembled violently, as if terrified by something extremely horrifying.
Immediately after, the other slimes also stopped, huddling together and shivering.
They sensed it.
An extremely evil, extremely powerful aura was rapidly approaching.
It was an absolute innate suppression from a high-ranking demon over low-level monsters.
The slimes were panicked.
Ahead was a terrifying unknown existence; behind was a woman with a sword and strong backing.
In an instant, the slimes made their decision.
They would rather face that silver-haired girl than face whatever terrifying thing was approaching.
So the slimes all turned around and changed direction.
They bounced frantically toward Primrose and the others, whom they had previously dared not approach.
Lin Naiyue was chasing with her eyes closed when suddenly she felt the commotion ahead stop.
She opened her eyes and saw the slimes all running back, heading straight for Primrose.
Lin Naiyue’s mind went blank.
They’re going to attack Primrose!
“Primrose, danger!” Lin Naiyue shouted.
In that moment, Lin Naiyue’s expression changed.
The gentle, confused, even comical look vanished instantly.
In its place was a pure, intense protective instinct.
Flames ignited in her violet-colored eyes.
It was the instinct etched into a mother’s bones when she sees her child in danger.
A power beyond reason erupted from deep within Lin Naiyue’s body.
This power didn’t belong to any stat panel; it completely transcended the rules.
Lin Naiyue gripped the Moon Sword with both hands, no longer closing her eyes.
She stared fixedly at the slimes charging toward Primrose, and her body moved instinctively.
She stomped her right foot on the ground.
BOOM!
A deep crater was stomped into the grass, sending dirt flying.
Using the recoil, Lin Naiyue’s body shot forward at a speed none of them could follow.
Her speed was so fast that an afterimage lingered in the air.
In less than a second, she stood in front of Primrose, facing the slimes directly.
Everyone was stunned as their hair and skirts were whipped by the gust of wind.
“Don’t you dare hurt my daughter!”
Lin Naiyue roared, raising the Moon Sword with both hands and swinging it viciously from right to left.
