Chapter 32: I Was Wrong, Meow

“Are you done yet?!”

Inside Bai Li’s dream, she was still locked in combat with that fake Lin Du.

The ice giant’s fists crashed down again and again. The fake Lin Du shattered into powder under the attacks, only to reappear unscathed behind her the next second.

Round and re-round. Endless, without limit.

She finally understood now. This guy couldn’t be killed no matter what.

Meng Mo had set up some kind of loop inside her dream. No matter how much she attacked, that disgusting fake Lin Du would always reappear the next moment and stick to her back.

She absolutely couldn’t let him touch her. She didn’t want to wake up tomorrow and have to wash her sheets again.

The ice giant roared, its massive fist swinging down once more.

The fake Lin Du was crushed into fragments by the punch’s wind pressure, scattering everywhere.

Bai Li silently counted seconds in her mind, then the next instant she swung her hand sharply.

Ice-crystal chains burst out from the giant’s body, accurately entangling the figure that had reappeared behind her.

The chains tightened, loop after loop, wrapping from shoulders to waist, from arms to ankles.

The fake Lin Du clearly hadn’t realized what was happening. He mechanically tried to move his body, that eternal gentle smile still plastered on his face—both stupid and creepy.

Bai Li turned around and put her hands on her hips.

“Until I wake up, you just stay right here, got it?”

She paused, then added another line.

“And your smile is ugly as hell.”

Meanwhile, the real Lin Du stood frozen in place.

Suddenly, the scene switched without warning.

The pure white background shattered like a mirror, fragments flying in all directions, dissolving into nothingness as they fell.

New images surged in from every direction, quickly filling the blank space.

Skyscrapers rose up, glass curtain walls reflecting the neon lights of the city. Traffic flowed like a river in the distance, honking and noise drifting faintly up from below.

A rooftop. This was the rooftop of some high-rise in City A.

Lin Du glanced down at his feet. Cement flooring, rusted guardrails along the edge—everything felt incredibly real.

So real it didn’t seem like a dream.

Meng Mo hovered in midair, lowering her head to examine her current appearance.

Silver-white hair fell over her shoulders, pointed fox ears, and a fluffy tail behind her.

She tilted her head, the corner of her mouth curling into a playful arc.

Wasn’t this that little fox I saw before?

She licked her lips, her gaze falling on Lin Du, slowly scanning him from head to toe.

Lin Du…

So this was her little boyfriend.

Sorry, little fox.

She silently muttered to herself, the smile in her eyes growing deeper.

Your little boyfriend is just too good. Big sis won’t hold back—I’ll take him.

When I’m done… mmm, I’ll try to leave a little scrap for you.

She couldn’t help but laugh out loud, shoulders trembling lightly.

Lin Du stared at the face before him, momentarily stunned.

Was her name… Liya?

No. Not her.

This face was looking at him with an expression he’d never seen on her—no fear or surprise, only the greed of a predator spotting its prey.

So Meng Mo could even read his memories and mimic different people’s appearances?

But according to the plan, the Knight Armor should have been transmitted by now.

Dr. Bo Shi had said that once Meng Mo appeared, the system would be sent into his dream.

Lin Du took a few steps back, only to be blocked by something.

A transparent wall materialized out of nowhere, cutting off his retreat.

“Why are you backing away?”

Meng Mo, still in Bai Li’s form, smiled. On that innocent face hung an expression completely mismatched with her appearance—seductive and bewitching.

“Don’t forget, this is my turf.”

She snapped her fingers lightly.

“Snap.”

The next moment, everything around them froze.

The distant traffic stopped at a single instant. The neon lights’ glow solidified in midair. Even the sound of the wind vanished.

The entire world had been put on pause, leaving only the two people standing on the rooftop.

Lin Du tried to take a step forward, only to find his body completely unresponsive.

“Don’t waste your strength.”

Meng Mo waved her hand, floating in the air.

“I was going to play by the rules earlier, since I just ate and needed to digest.”

She paused, her gaze falling on Lin Du again.

“But now…”

She circled behind him, footsteps silent.

Slender fingers rested on his shoulder, the tips lightly tracing along his shoulder line.

“Enjoy the last moments of your life. You’ll be the first human in this city to be completely devoured by me.”

She tilted her head, examining his face from the side.

“Let me see… where should I start playing?”

Meng Mo’s eyes shifted to Lin Du’s hands—those restrained hands. His fingers were trembling, slowly clenching.

“What?!”

Meng Mo’s eyes flew wide. This was the first time she’d ever seen someone move after being immobilized in her own dream.

It was utterly inconceivable. This was her domain, her world, her laws.

Here, she was a god.

How could a mere mortal break free from a god’s shackles?

“How did you—pfft!”

Before she could finish, a powerful uppercut slammed solidly into her chin.

Meng Mo was sent flying upward, a sharp, dull pain radiating from her jaw.

Meng Mo barely managed to stabilize herself midair, fingers trembling as she touched her aching chin.

She stared hard at Lin Du and asked, “Kid, what are you?”

“You… don’t… need… to know.”

Lin Du gritted his teeth, speaking word by word as he slowly turned to face Meng Mo.

He felt as if he were bearing ten times the normal gravity. Every step he moved cost tremendous effort.

“Tch, don’t want to say? Fine.”

Meng Mo’s expression turned completely cold. The lazy tone was gone from her voice.

“Anyway, you’ll be a corpse soon. I’ll make sure you lose consciousness and then die in the most miserable way.”

Seeing that Lin Du’s mental strength was this formidable, Meng Mo didn’t dare underestimate him.

She’d lived for so many years and had never been treated like this before.

Rage blazed up from her chest like fire. Her eyes turned blood-red.

Pink light exploded, knocking Lin Du back two steps.

Bai Li’s form vanished, replaced by Meng Mo’s true appearance.

Her hair stood on end, her wings fully spread, her body surrounded by dark purple mist.

The environment shifted again, becoming pitch-black ink.

Meng Mo casually raised her hand and swept it upward.

“Sleep now. Farewell forever!”

Lin Du’s heart jolted. An overwhelming wave of drowsiness flooded his mind.

But they were already in a dream. Was she… stripping away his consciousness?

Before he could resist, he lost all awareness, his head drooping.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk…”

Meng Mo breathed a sigh of relief and descended to the ground.

“That was way too close. If word got out, how could I ever show my face again?”

The pain in her jaw turned into appetite, and she licked her lips.

“Getting punched by some brat… looks like I’m still far from powerful enough.”

Even after cutting off his consciousness, Meng Mo still felt uneasy in her heart.

What if he suddenly gave her another punch, just like before?

“Hey, kid?”

Meng Mo stood three steps away and reached out to poke Lin Du’s shoulder.

Lin Du’s eyes were shut tight. No response.

Meng Mo let out a long breath and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead.

A sound rang out, low and prolonged. It wasn’t any sound that belonged in this world.

Meng Mo’s smile froze on her face.

In the darkness, something had opened its eyes.

Amber-gold pupils, like metal melted and then solidified, like the eyes of some god left behind in the mortal world.

Cold, overlooking everything, as if gazing at an ant.

“You…” Meng Mo’s voice trembled. “What the hell are you?!”
