Seeing Noah try to kill herself, Ouruola let out a faint cold laugh.
She had been observing Noah for a long time.
Although this person had an exceedingly high Divine Rank, she was just an empty shell with no Authority at all.
If she just stepped forward and died, Ouruola could perform Body Possession on Noah and obtain that stunningly beautiful face.
Thinking of this, Ouruola deliberately aligned her heart with the point where the long blade would fall.
She even made the puppets beside her move aside so they wouldn’t interfere with her own death.
But the next moment, Ouruola couldn’t laugh anymore.
Noah pulled out the Pistol from her waist, aimed the muzzle at her own temple, and pulled the trigger hard.
[If we both have nothing, what is there for you to envy?]
If we both become wandering spirits, what can you envy me?
If we both perish at the same time, how can you take over the body of someone already dead?
Noah knew that no matter the outcome, the winner would be herself.
If she succeeded, Envy would be truly killed.
If she didn’t succeed…
Then she would just use Death Return again.
What comforted Noah was that Ouruola, who had never panicked from start to finish, finally broke.
She watched in despair as the long blade pierced her own heart, then screamed hysterically.
“No—! Wait————! You can’t——————!!”
The gunshot rang out.
Ouruola fell straight to the ground with the long blade stuck in her chest.
The bullet that should have blown Noah’s head off had instead passed through Ouruola’s head.
Black viscous liquid surged from Ouruola’s wounds.
She completely lost all signs of life.
Noah took a few deep breaths and casually tossed aside the Pistol.
She turned back to look at Suoen and nodded at him with a confident expression.
Suoen was also stunned by the situation.
He watched as Tan Lan’s puppet gradually melted into a pool of black slime.
Bracing himself with the Long Blade, he slowly stood up and returned to Noah’s side.
“Madam… you nearly scared me to death…”
Suoen, having survived the ordeal, patted his chest in lingering fear.
“Did you divine the Solution, so you dared to do this?”
“Uh…”
Noah pondered for a moment, then nodded lightly.
“You could say that…”
After all, the Solution was told to her by that mysterious voice.
That counted as another form of Divination.
Noah watched as all the puppets around gradually turned into black slime, and she felt a wave of relief.
Just as she was about to step forward to check on Ouruola’s condition, she suddenly heard a chaotic crying sound from the void.
[“Wah… Envy… why did you have to come back…?”]
[“No…! Don’t come near me…! Make her leave… make her leave!!”]
The next moment, the crying turned into vicious cursing.
None of them could understand what It was saying or what It was cursing.
It was as if countless personalities were surging inside Its mind, laughing, cursing, without a moment’s pause.
The cursing turned back into crying.
A shrill wail echoed in their ears.
The cry seemed to possess magical power, causing Noah and her companions to forget who they were and what they were doing.
They could only painfully hold their heads, trying to resist the erosion of this power.
Then, endless illusions surrounded them: pain, confusion, sorrow, hatred.
Noah could even feel the torment of the crying entity, and feel her own mind being filled with countless voices.
They were arguing, cursing, crying, laughing maniacally, as if Noah’s spirit would collapse at any moment.
But suddenly, all three regained their senses.
After slowly regaining control of their bodies, Suoen staggered back in terror.
He looked around at the void with an indescribable gaze and spoke in a trembling voice.
“It’s over… It’s here… It actually came!”
Xin shook her head violently, even sticking her fingers into her ears to dig at them.
She turned to Suoen and frowned.
“Who? Who’s here?”
Suoen felt as if his whole body was trembling.
He gripped his Long Blade tightly, trying to find some courage to resist this power, but it was useless.
He opened his mouth slightly and announced in a hoarse voice.
“The Filth Spirit! The Filth Spirit is here!”
The Filth Spirit, one of the Twenty-Five Spirits of Divine Bequest, the ruler of all filth and malice in the world, the Mother of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Source of Misfortune and Blasphemy, a true god!
“What are you babbling about?!”
Xin looked at Suoen in horror.
“How could a god descend to a place like this? Just because we killed Its follower?”
“I don’t know! The Filth Spirit is a mad god!”
Suoen forced himself to calm down, but his voice trembled uncontrollably.
“How can you predict what a madman will do, let alone a god?”
With the Filth Spirit’s crying, countless pools of black slime on the ground gradually gathered together.
They twisted and rolled over Ouruola’s corpse, eventually forming a monster composed of black slime.
The slime crushed Ouruola’s corpse into pieces, then used tentacles to wave her limbs and head as it crawled toward Noah and the others.
Noah watched this hellish scene in terror as the Filth Spirit spoke to them.
[“Take ■■… Take…!”]
[“I don’t want to see ■■… forever ■■…!”]
[“Lina… ■■ misses you… Lina! ■ hold me…! Lina! ■ come ■ closer…!”]
[“Aah ■ aaaaaaah ■ aaaah ■ aah!”]
With the Filth Spirit’s roar, the blob of black slime grew larger and larger, gradually filling the entire Office Area.
With unstoppable momentum, the black slime mass swept everything it could touch in the area toward Noah and the others.
Noah and the other two were terrified out of their wits and ready to run.
Just at that critical moment, someone suddenly shouted from the corridor behind them.
“Suoen! We’re here!”
Reinforcements had finally arrived!
The leader of the group wore a black tailcoat, had short black hair and gray pupils, and carried a deep black gentleman’s hat and a cane in his hands.
It seemed he had rushed over so hastily that he didn’t even have time to put on his hat.
As he ran, he pulled a stack of manuscript paper from his chest.
He looked up at the black slime across from him and asked in surprise.
“What the hell is that?! What did you people do?!”
“Leader! You’re finally here!”
Suoen hurried up to meet him, reporting anxiously.
“Think of something fast, or it’ll be too late!”
The Leader’s eyes immediately fell on Noah.
He was startled at first, then nodded at her.
He knew this was not the time to ask for details; solving the immediate problem was the priority.
The Leader looked up at the blob of black slime and asked Suoen in a puzzled tone.
“What happened?”
“Envy is dead! The Filth Spirit has come to avenge Its follower!”
Xin explained as she ran.
“Hurry back, or we’ll all die here!”
“The Filth Spirit?!”
The Leader sized up the blob of black slime, then calmly nodded.
He pulled out a fountain pen, wrote a few lines on the manuscript paper, and then looked up.
“Don’t be afraid. The real Filth Spirit can’t come here. Listen carefully: all of you, ignore everything else. Follow me and recite, not a single word wrong. Got it?”
“Yes!”
The members following the Leader immediately replied.
Noah and Xin also nodded.
The Leader then shook the manuscript paper in his hand and began to read aloud.
“「Script Says: The Sacred Spirit will descend here!」”
Everyone echoed in unison.
The Leader nodded in satisfaction.
He looked at the surging black slime ahead and continued reading.
“「Script Says: The Filth Spirit will rest again!」”
Everyone echoed again.
The Leader directed everyone to retreat to avoid being crushed by the slime.
He steadied his breathing and continued.
“「Script Says: Holy Lina has heard the Filth Spirit’s call.」”
“「Script Says: She embraces her sister, soothing the god’s maddened mind.」”
“「Script Says: O filthy god, you were meant to guard the source of malice!」”
“「Script Says: Under the command of Domination, you should not leave the Divine Prison!」”
“「Script Says: Therefore, return to your realm! Source of Filth!」”
“「Script Says!」”
The Leader tossed the manuscript paper into the air and shouted loudly.
“「Leave here! Moluo!」”
