Chapter 27: Tarot Cards

As the group recited the script in unison, the cries of the Filth Spirit grew quieter, as if holy light were truly shining upon the black slime, forcing it to leave this place.

A sizzling sound accompanied by a foul stench spread.

The black slime writhed and twisted wildly in place, but it refused to dissipate.

The Leader frowned deeply.

The previous script had consumed too much of his power.

If the Filth Spirit couldn’t be dispelled, they might truly be done for.

Xin and Suo’en couldn’t help at all.

In a contest involving divine power, these two warriors couldn’t simply draw their blades and attack.

Xin secretly calculated an escape route, planning to flee if things went south.

Noah was at a loss.

Although the mysterious voice had promised to grant her the Authority of Divination, she had no idea how to use it!

She pulled out the Tarot Deck from her pocket and quietly stared at it.

Noah hesitated, wondering if she should just throw the deck at the slime to test it.

But suddenly, knowledge of how to use the Tarot Deck surfaced in Noah’s mind.

She froze for a moment, and that brilliant Starry Sky seemed to appear before her again.

Noah steadied herself, and she heard the mysterious voice speak to her.

[“Congratulations, child. You have solved the puzzle I gave you. The method to activate this Tarot Deck is your reward. Keep up the good work…”]

Noah was shocked beyond words.

That mysterious voice was truly watching her.

She looked down at the Tarot Deck and said thoughtfully to the others.

“Wait… I think I have an idea…”

The Leader looked at Noah in surprise.

He didn’t know what she planned, but he nodded anyway.

“Alright, whatever it is, let’s give it a try.”

The Leader’s forehead was already beaded with cold sweat.

With his ability, he probably couldn’t hold out much longer.

Noah pressed the Tarot Deck in her hand and swept it outward.

The twenty-two cards immediately spread out.

The cards floated in the air as if supported by magic.

Noah drew one from the deck and turned it over.

The picture on the card showed a woman in white robes and a lion.

It was the number 8 card, [Strength].

Strengthens all things, breaks the shackles of the mind.

Noah nodded.

She reached out and handed the card to the Leader beside her.

“Here, take it!”

Although the Leader didn’t understand, he obediently took it.

He held the [Strength] card in his hand as Noah began to recite.

“Number 8, Strength! By the name of the Stars! Grant strengthening to all things!”

The next moment, the Leader felt his power multiply several times over.

Even his control over the script was enhanced.

He watched in amazement as the [Strength] card in his hand gradually dissolved into stars, then looked up at the black slime across from him.

With the reinforcement of Strength, the black slime was scorched by the holy power summoned by the script, emitting black smoke and screeching miserably, as if cursing the source of the Star Divine Power.

But even so, the black slime showed no sign of retreat.

The Leader sighed in frustration and placed his black top hat on his head.

“It seems still not enough. Is there another way?”

Noah fell silent.

She took a deep breath, then reached out and drew another card from the deck.

She turned it over and saw an angel with beautiful wings, gently pouring water from one chalice into another.

It was the number 14 card, [Temperance].

Harmonizes spiritual balance, bringing all things to tranquility.

Noah nodded.

She pinched the card between her fingers, walked over to the black slime, and pressed it against the slime.

Instantly, holy light blazed forth.

The powers of holiness and filth reached equilibrium and gradually dissipated without a trace.

Xin watched the dissolving black slime and let out a sigh of relief.

Though the problem was solved, she still shot Noah a reproachful look.

“Girl, why didn’t you use this skill earlier? You really put us through the wringer.”

Noah didn’t know how to answer, so she just sighed softly.

“No choice. I just learned how to use it myself.”

Xin’s eyes widened.

She put her hands on her hips and said crossly, “You just learned such a powerful skill? Who are you trying to fool?”

“Ha… believe it or not…”

Noah retrieved the Tarot Deck and shook her head helplessly.

Noah was still processing her newly acquired skill.

She discovered that each of the twenty-two Tarot cards had different functions, but most were locked and unusable.

Aside from the reinforcement of the [Strength] card and the balance of the [Temperance] card, only the divination of the [The Fool] card was available.

These cards were composed of divine power.

Even if she threw them away or damaged them, they would reassemble into a complete Tarot Deck.

Noah kept fiddling with them in her hands, contemplating how to unlock the usage of all the cards.

After putting away the script, the Leader gently straightened his clothes.

He walked over to Noah and spoke to her in a soft tone.

“Darling, you’ve finally returned. Why so silent? Don’t you have anything to say to me?”

“Darling? Who is he talking to?”

Noah looked up at the Leader in confusion and found him staring at her.

That remark was clearly directed at her.

Noah frowned and instinctively retorted, “Darling? Who are you talking about? I don’t know you.”

As soon as she said it, Noah regretted it.

According to the setting, she was supposed to be a member of the Primordial Organization, [Lady Gehelos], the Leader’s wife.

How could she not recognize her own husband!

If she was discovered not to be that Lady Gehelos, she might be executed on the spot for deceiving the Primordial Organization!

Thinking this, cold sweat broke out on Noah’s forehead.

She opened her mouth to say something to salvage her mistake, but saw the Leader drop his cane in shock.

He strode over to her in two steps and looked at her with an incredulous tone.

“Darling… you… you really don’t remember me at all…!?”

“Huh? What?”

Noah didn’t understand the Leader’s reaction.

Suo’en approached and asked in a puzzled tone, “Madam, are you joking? You’ve been away so long, you should greet the Leader first.”

Noah felt her brain short-circuit.

Although she knew that her husband had been searching for her, she remembered nothing except her name, Noah.

Now suddenly someone claimed to be her husband, and Noah still felt dazed.

Xin also walked over.

She looked Noah and the Leader up and down with a strange expression, clicked her tongue, and said, “So you two are a couple? What, had a lovers’ quarrel? Why aren’t you talking to him?”

“No… I… I didn’t…”

Noah felt herself stammering.

Just as she was about to explain, she heard the Leader sigh.

“Everyone… I understand what’s going on…”

The Leader shook his head gently and spoke in a dejected tone.

“Everyone, let me introduce you. This is my wife, Lady Gehelos. If I’m not mistaken, my wife has truly lost her memory. Don’t ask any more questions. She definitely can’t remember anything.”

“Is that so?”

Xin asked in surprise.

“What happened? Why the sudden amnesia?”
