Anlis spent the afternoon working in the fields with her father.
At first, Bolai didn’t want Anlis to do such farm work.
After all, a Hero’s duty is to improve themselves and, once strong enough, to go defeat the Demon King in the future.
But Anlis insisted it was physical training, part of honing herself. How could a Hero fight without strength?
Bolai just shot her a look and said, “Labor is labor, training is training. You can’t lump them together.”
However, he didn’t stop her afterward and let her help in the fields.
Anlis found an opportunity to hand her father the bottle of Holy Water given by Archbishop Ge Lan.
When her father heard that the Holy Water in the bottle could lift the curse on him, he said nothing.
His expression was very complicated, but he silently accepted it. Anlis didn’t ask. Some things, if she was meant to know, the other party would tell her on their own.
After a whole afternoon of work, Anlis looked a bit weary.
The sun was harsh, and she had sweated a lot. But she herself was enjoying it.
“Anlis!”
Suddenly, a cheerful girl’s voice called out from a distant ridge. Anlis turned to see Fula standing far away, waving at her.
Fula’s outfit today was very elaborate, like a young lady from the city on a countryside outing. But her aura fell a bit short.
Involuntarily, Vylian popped into Anlis’s mind.
‘A stunning loli like her, dressed in such a pure, girl-next-door attire, would probably have a unique charm.’ ‘Ahem, what am I thinking?’ ‘First, I’m not a lolicon.’ ‘Second, no matter how good-looking Vylian is, I wouldn’t appreciate her. After all, that girl is both wicked and lewd, extremely nasty. Whenever I see her, I feel like my head is twice its size.’
With that thought, Anlis put down her work and went up to Fula.
“Fula, is there something you need from me?”
“Can’t I come to you even if there’s nothing?”
She smiled slightly, a playful cuteness on her face.
“Come with me, I have something to tell you.”
With that, she directly took Anlis’s hand, seemingly intending to lead her away.
“Hey, can’t you just tell me here? I’m all dirty.”
Anlis didn’t resist much, just said it verbally. Still, she let Fula lead her in a different direction.
Bolai watched their backs but didn’t stop them. Today’s farm work was almost done, and it wouldn’t take him long to wrap up.
“What I mainly want to ask you about is training.”
Fula spoke without stopping.
Anlis noticed the other was leading her out of the village and felt an inexplicable sense of foreboding.
“Fula, where are we going?”
“To the woods, of course. How can I use magic in the village? It would be troublesome if I accidentally burn something.”
“Ah, well…”
Isn’t using Fire Magic in the woods even more troublesome?
Anlis suddenly remembered that in the woods not far from the village, there seemed to be a clearing. That place would be suitable for magic practice. Fula was probably planning to take her there.
But before they got far, Anlis felt the direction was off. This wasn’t the way to the clearing at all.
“Fula, where is this?”
As she spoke, Anlis spotted a small wooden cabin. The cabin’s appearance here was very abrupt, and the sense of wrongness made Anlis’s hair stand on end. But trusting Fula, she suppressed the feeling and asked curiously, “What is this place?”
“This is my secret base. I brought you here to take a bath, of course. You’re so dirty, you need to freshen up first.”
“That… makes sense.”
It did sound reasonable. Since they were going to study and train, and Anlis had just come out of the muddy fields, covered in sweat, she should take a bath.
She felt something was off, but Fula wouldn’t harm her. If it were Vylian, she would be cautious.
But Fula was a longtime friend, her bestie. Although this operation was a bit strange, it shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
But…
“I didn’t bring a change of clothes. How about I go home first?”
“Don’t worry, I was prepared. I already brought some for you. It’s getting late, and going back and forth would waste time. I don’t want to go home too late.”
“Alright.”
Anlis had no choice. Looking at the small cabin, she wondered if the living facilities inside were really adequate.
Pushing the door open, she found the interior very simple: a wooden bed, a wooden wall for partition, and on the other side of the wall was a washroom. But there was actually only a wooden tub.
“Where’s the water?”
“The water’s here. Watch the new magic I learned. It’s really useful.”
Fula chanted a mysterious and obscure incantation, and soon an azure magic circle formed in her palm. A clear stream of water flowed from her hand into the wooden tub.
Magic incantations weren’t as common as things you could buy by the roadside; acquiring them was somewhat difficult. Anlis remembered Fula’s primary elemental affinity was Fire…
It probably wasn’t something to worry about. Just a small water-making spell. Even if she learned it, it’s not that strange. After all, Fula’s Class is Mage, naturally gifted with strong magical talent. What’s so surprising about her learning other elemental magic?
“I’ll step out now. I put your change of clothes here.”
Hearing that, Anlis felt relieved.
There was a coarse linen bag placed on the stool in the washroom, containing a set of clothes.
She could see some fine black fabric. Fula considerately closed the door, and Anlis didn’t think much.
With Vylian not around, and Fula being a childhood friend, she unconsciously let her guard down.
Thinking not to keep Fula waiting, she undressed, washed quickly, and opened the bag to take out the clothes to change into.
Then…
She found that the bag contained no decent clothes at all!
“Th-this is!!!”
It was clearly a shameless catgirl outfit! Only cat ears, a tail, panties, a chest wrap, and a miniskirt! How could anyone wear such a thing?!
“Fula!”
Anlis called out loudly.
“What’s wrong?”
“What kind of clothes did you prepare for me?!”
“Clothes, what else?”
“Is there such clothing?!”
“Did you put them on?”
“How could I put them on?!”
She couldn’t imagine what she’d look like in such a shameless outfit! But if Vylian, that loli, wore this black catgirl outfit with her unique, beautiful black hair, it would definitely suit her perfectly.
“Seriously, this joke isn’t funny. I’m putting my old clothes back on.”
“No, put those on.”
Suddenly, the bathroom door was pushed open a crack, as if the person outside wanted to barge in.
Anlis was startled and quickly pressed against it, pushing the wooden door back.
