What is a Saintess?
As a believer chosen by God, one must hold extreme piety toward God’s doctrines, bear the purest faith in God, and also show compassion for the people under God’s protection.
As God’s most favored child, one must be virtuous and love the world, and in return, God will grant the ability to set foot in the Sacred Heavenly Kingdom.
If one can obtain such honor and, through the Saintess, go to the Heavenly Kingdom to meet God, it is the highest blessing in the world.
Anlis’s already wide eyes grew even wider.
‘What does this mean?’
‘Why can Vylian really communicate with the Heavenly Kingdom like a Saintess?’
‘Could it be that she really is a Saintess?’
‘Are you kidding me? The Demon King is actually a Saintess? Doesn’t anyone think this is weird?’
‘No, no, no. Logically speaking, God wouldn’t make such an absurd mistake.’
‘And as the Corrupt Monarch, Vylian would never dare to step into the Heavenly Kingdom and appear before God.’
‘So this is absolutely not the real Heavenly Kingdom! Behind that seemingly holy, heaven-like scene must be a pitch-black, endless Abyss.’
Anlis’s intuition directly pointed out this possibility, and she was deeply convinced of it.
‘What would happen if Fula was sent in?’
‘Would she be completely devoured by the Abyss?’
She always believed that Fula was only deceived by the heretical god, that her true heart was not like this.
Even though Fula had done such excessive things to her just now, Anlis couldn’t stand by and watch her be sent into the Abyss.
“Saintess Vylian, is there any other way?”
“Another way? Hero Anlis, being able to go to the Heavenly Kingdom and be received by God is her great fortune. This is the only treatment available.”
This was already a rejection in another sense.
Vylian suddenly found it strange.
‘Hmm… Why would Anlis ask such a question?’
‘Logically, if believers of the Holy Order saw a chance to go to the Heavenly Kingdom, they would be overjoyed and eager, wouldn’t they?’
‘If she were Anlis right now, hearing that the Saintess could send her childhood friend to the Heavenly Kingdom for treatment, she would probably be jumping for joy.’
A hint of suspicion rose in Vylian’s heart, and her gaze slowly locked onto Anlis.
Anlis clearly felt Vylian’s gaze.
She wanted to act more natural, but with her talent sealed, she came across a bit stammering.
“I, I just want to ask… can the God in the Heavenly Kingdom really cure Fula?”
She herself couldn’t tell whether she asked this question with hope or with the helplessness of forced compromise.
It was like hesitating, forced by reality to push Fula into the Abyss.
Hoping for a miracle of healing in that dark place.
She didn’t want Fula to be sent in.
‘But what can I do?’
‘I’m too weak. As a hero chosen by God, I can only stand by and watch everything happen before me, without even the strength to resist.’
She didn’t recklessly tear off the mask with Vylian. Reason desperately held back her courage, preventing her from challenging two beings at the pinnacle of the world at level 47.
She could only silently pray that Vylian wouldn’t pull any tricks and would return Fula safely.
She couldn’t trust Vylian at all.
After all, who could trust a nemesis who had cast a shameless curse on her and disguised herself beside her with ulterior motives?
“Don’t worry. Under God’s mighty power, the gaze of a heretical god is nothing but a clown. I am very reliable.”
A god with few followers naturally has weak divine power.
If it were the Holy Order’s god, Vylian might have to sit up and fight Him.
But this one in front of her had probably already exhausted all its strength to do this much.
“Fula, come here.”
“I’m not coming! What do you want to do to me?”
Fula’s whole body tensed, her eyes full of vigilance and hostility. A strong sense of unknown crisis screamed a warning in her heart, causing her to instinctively step back.
“You know you’re sick. I need the god to treat you.”
“I’m not sick! You damn bastard just want to take Anlis away from me, don’t you? These are all just excuses.”
Under the influence of her emotions, Fula became somewhat hysterical. Anlis, lying on the bed, watched the two of them argue and couldn’t help swallowing.
She was really worried that Vylian would lose her temper and strike directly.
But Vylian wasn’t that petty. She just smiled and walked up, slightly raising her head. Despite her petite stature, she had an aura that looked down on everything.
“Yes, I do want to take her away from you. What can you do about it?”
“You!”
Fula was completely stunned. She never expected Vylian to admit it so bluntly. She was so angry she couldn’t speak for a long time.
Anlis watched this atmosphere that was about to turn into a shura field, and her head felt twice as big.
‘Wait, shouldn’t Vylian be trying to calm Fula’s emotions at a time like this?’
‘If she doesn’t calm the other’s emotions, how can she make her willingly accept treatment?’
‘What’s the meaning of this act?’
Vylian didn’t pay attention to Anlis’s gaze and continued.
“That’s right, Anlis is the thing I treasure most. Do you think that just because you’ve grown up with her, you have absolute priority? Don’t be ridiculous, you small fry. I told you last time, some feelings don’t come to fruition just because you’ve been together for a long time.”
This sentence was like a match, instantly igniting all the anger pent up in Fula’s heart.
She clenched her fists. The flames of rage nearly overwhelmed her mind. The warning in her heart had long been drowned by anger.
“I’ll kill you!”
Fula roared, and in an instant, scorching flames ignited in her palm as she charged furiously toward Vylian.
Even though that strange sense of crisis was still desperately stopping her, she didn’t slow down at all.
The smile on Vylian’s face grew more playful.
She lightly raised her hand, easily catching Fula’s swinging wrist. With a slight force, she tossed her into the Abyss rift disguised as the Heavenly Kingdom.
Fula’s body was already stained with her corrupted aura. Mimiluci would immediately understand her instructions upon smelling this aura and know what to do.
After doing all this, the space rift instantly closed. The original dazzling white light completely dissipated, leaving only a faint residual warmth of holy light inside the small wooden cabin.
“When will Fula come back?”
“Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after, or maybe she’ll come back tonight.”
Vylian spoke vaguely because she really didn’t know.
Handling this matter required going to the Abyss, and it was perfect to leave it to Mimiluci.
After all, that one was over nine hundred levels. As the boss just before the final boss of the RPG game, the first general under the Corrupt Monarch, her strength was adequate. Handling such a small problem was a piece of cake.
But in Anlis’s eyes, this was a tactic to brush her off.
When brushing someone off, you have to say something ambiguous.
Perhaps because Fula was sent into the Abyss, the Life God’s gaze could no longer be cast on her through Fula. The talents that had been sealed were now recovering one by one, and the familiar feeling of power flowed back through her limbs.
Anlis immediately put on a facade of “Great, Fula is saved!” with eyes full of “anticipation,” as if she were genuinely waiting for the day Fula would return.
But in her heart, she was cursing her own cowardice and incompetence.
‘As a hero, I can’t even protect my own best friend.’
‘If I were strong enough to suppress all this, wouldn’t this not have happened?’
Thinking about it, she eventually couldn’t hold back the words in her heart.
“Why is Fula being watched by a heretical god?”
Hearing this question, Vylian’s footsteps suddenly paused. A barely perceptible glint flashed in her eyes.
She seemed to see an opportunity.
An opportunity to severely strike at Anlis’s confidence as a hero.
She couldn’t help but lift a smile.
Her tone was light, but carried the weight of a thousand pounds, as she said each word deliberately.
“Because you are the hero.”
