Chapter 39: Insect Mother Got Cornered

“I don’t like it when the bed is cold at night when I go to sleep.”

The corner of Sereya’s mouth curved into a deeper arc.

“If you do it, you can leave with me right now.”

Sereya’s voice was certain. She wasn’t joking.

Sereya tilted her head. Both her eyes and the corners of her mouth looked amused.

“This choice should be easy to make, right? Become mine, or go find another way to sneak into a different Transfer Station.”

Sereya raised one hand and pressed a finger to her ear.

“I need to take a call.”

Ella froze.

A call? In this day and age there were still people using phones? 

Phones could actually make calls?!

“Hello?”

Sereya’s brows furrowed at whatever was being said.

“You caught three people from the Insect Nest?”

Ella’s heart gave a violent thump.

“I’ll be there right away.”

Sereya’s gaze moved away from Ella’s face and toward the shop entrance. 

Her body leaned forward slightly as the white wings on her back spread for an instant before folding back again.

“Hm? What’s wrong with you?”

She lowered her head and looked at Ella again.

“No…”

Ella tried hard to keep her face stiff. 

Silver hair strands fell beside her face, covering her wildly trembling pupils.

“It’s nothing…”

Her voice squeezed out of her throat, dry and hoarse.
