The mysterious voice paused for a moment, then spoke in a firm tone.
“Important. When you reach a certain fate node, she will play a decisive role.”
“Is that so… I don’t really feel it…”
Noah knew that Xin possessed the Power of Struggle, but it didn’t seem to help her own fate. She paused and spoke again.
“I only think her chest is big. Nothing else stands out.”
“Isn’t that enough?”
“Huh? What does that have to do with a fate node?”
Noah frowned.
“Chest size is part of combat power.”
“Hey! There’s something behind those words!”
Noah shouted, a little exasperated.
“Haha, don’t be mad. Let me give you a gift.”
The mysterious voice summoned a card before Noah, then spoke seriously.
“At some point in the future, when you’re at your wit’s end, remember—you still have this trump card.”
Noah quietly looked at the pattern on the card, then reached out and picked it up.
“Okay, got it.”
“Good.”
The mysterious voice echoed around them.
“Time’s up. You should go back…”
A flash of starlight passed through the empty temple, then faded into darkness.
The Lord of Fate waved a hand over the Magic Mirror, wiping Noah’s figure from the stars.
They raised their head, gazing at the boundless sea of stars in the void.
The empty temple accentuated their solitary figure, and the Lord of Fate let out a quiet sigh.
‘I prophesied the world would collapse. I prophesied the gods would fall. I prophesied the Creator God would be annihilated here. I prophesied the Ancient Outer God would reshape this world.’
‘But I cannot speak it. I cannot proclaim this prophecy…’
They wore a pure black cloak, its wide hood covering the upper half of their face.
A large crystal ball floated beside them, and countless stars wrapped around their body like silk.
This was the master of fate and prophecy, the pinnacle of fortune tellers, the Star Spirit.
‘I have to do something…’ the Star Spirit thought silently.
‘First… I need a vassal of fate…’
A vassal was a god’s agent in the mortal realm.
According to the rules, gods could not directly interfere in mortal affairs.
To influence the lower world, a god needed to find their own agent in the human realm.
‘The eighth time… That child has died eight times already…’ the Star Spirit fretted.
‘Can she pass the Trial of Fate…?’
‘Calm down… Kurus… Calm down…’ the Star Spirit silently called their own name.
Though they told themselves to stay calm, their gaze kept falling on the Magic Mirror.
They gently stroked the frame of the mirror, pondering their next move.
Just as the Star Spirit was about to observe Noah again, a huge portal appeared behind them.
This purple square portal startled the Star Spirit. They turned around and watched a figure step out of the portal.
This god appeared as a young girl, no older than sixteen. Though a girl, her short dark purple hair made her look like a tomboy.
She wore nothing but a layer of gray mist wrapped around her body—like countless layers of translucent silk clinging to her, revealing nothing yet concealing everything.
The moment she stepped out of the portal, she pointed at the Star Spirit and shouted,
“Big hat! What trouble are you hiding here this time?”
This was the master of space and void, the manager of countless parallel worlds—the Space Spirit.
Hearing the accusation, the Star Spirit quickly waved their hands.
“What? Don’t slander me. I’ll sue you for defamation!”
“Me slander you?”
The Space Spirit widened her eyes.
“How dare you say I’m slandering you? Then explain this: eight unclaimed parallel worlds escaped from your temple. How do you account for that?”
Hearing the Space Spirit directly reveal their secret, the Star Spirit quickly denied it.
“It wasn’t me. I didn’t. Stop making things up!”
“You’re still making excuses!”
The Space Spirit put her hands on her hips and pointed at the Star Spirit.
“Because of this, that Stoic Face called me over and chewed me out, said I was lazy and didn’t do my job. I got scolded for nothing! How are you going to make it up to me?”
The Star Spirit thought they had hidden it well, but the manager of space had long since discovered the truth.
The only reason she hadn’t reported it was that they were colleagues, and she didn’t want to go too far.
But now the gods’ manager had found out, changing the situation entirely.
He first called the Space Spirit over and chewed her out, then ordered her to find and retrieve the eight runaway parallel worlds.
Each of those eight worlds had branched off after Noah’s death.
They shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Because the Star Spirit had twisted fate, these eight illegitimate worlds were revealed.
Although finding and destroying them wasn’t hard for the Space Spirit, overtime and a scolding were still unpleasant.
After finishing all the work, the Space Spirit came straight to the Temple of Stars to demand an explanation from Kurus. The Star Spirit knew they were in the wrong and had to yield.
“Fine, fine… I’ll apologize to you, and we’ll let it drop, okay?”
“Why should I!”
The Space Spirit was immediately displeased. She glared and shouted,
“You make trouble, and I take the blame? Why should I!”
“Come on, I know you too well…”
The Star Spirit brushed off formalities.
“Just tell me what you want. I’ll give it to you. Is that enough?”
Being colleagues, the Star Spirit knew exactly what she was after, so they skipped the apology and waited for her demands.
“Hmph, that’s more like it.”
The Space Spirit held her head high, but even so, she only came up to the Star Spirit’s chest, so she looked anything but imposing.
She had come specifically to blackmail the Star Spirit and had long planned her condition.
“You’re looking for a vassal, right? I want one too! Find one for me!”
The Star Spirit hadn’t expected that request. They frowned immediately.
“You want a vassal? You barely have any believers. Can’t you just pick one from them?”
Mortals who believed in the Space Spirit were far too few—one in a hundred thousand was generous.
But the Space Spirit obviously wouldn’t accept that suggestion. She shouted,
“You won’t do it? If you don’t, I’ll go report you to that Stoic Face! I’ll tell them you’re violating the rules in secret!”
“Fine, fine… I’ll find one… I’ll find one, okay?”
The Star Spirit quickly raised their hands in surrender. They knew the Space Spirit meant what she said, and if the manager of the gods found out they had broken the rules, all their hard work would be wasted.
“Hmph, that’s more like it. Don’t forget. I’m off.”
“Yadi! Wait a minute.”
Seeing the Space Spirit about to open a portal and leave, the Star Spirit quickly stopped her.
“Uh… ahem… let me tell you something. Those parallel worlds that escaped—there might be more in the future. If you see any, could you help me destroy them?”
The Space Spirit was startled by the Star Spirit’s request. She glared at them.
“More? Big hat, do you just itch for a scolding? This is against the rules! If the Stoic Face finds out, they’ll hold a big meeting to criticize you!”
