“Good morning.”
Li Ya yawned and sat down at the table.
“Where’s Rex?”
“My Lord went to the fields. He’s changing shoes at the door.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Rex walked in.
Li Ya glanced at him.
Yesterday his face was a bit pale, but today he had some color back.
But she noticed a faint dark circle under his eyes, as if he hadn’t slept well.
“You’re up a bit early today.”
“Because I couldn’t sleep.”
“Why?”
“I had a dream.”
Li Ya raised an eyebrow.
“A nightmare?”
“Yeah.”
“What kind of dream?”
“I can’t remember.”
Li Ya’s gaze swept between the kitchen and Rex.
‘Are these two doing something sneaky behind my back?’
“Alright, I won’t ask.”
She stood up and walked to the kitchen door, watching Hilda flip the fried egg over.
“What nightmare did he have?” Li Ya quietly approached and asked in a low voice.
“I won’t say anything that My Lord doesn’t want to say.”
“Oh? So that means you know?”
But Hilda ignored her, silently scooping the fried egg onto a plate without pausing.
Li Ya bit her lip.
“You two… are each harder to deal with than the other.”
When breakfast was served, Li Ya stabbed a piece of fried egg and was about to bite into it when she suddenly realized something and quickly put down the fork.
“Hilda.”
“I’m here.”
“What time did you get up?”
“Four in the morning.”
“Yes.”
“Was he there too?”
“Yes.”
Li Ya was startled inwardly.
‘They couldn’t have really done something, could they?’
“You two… at four in the morning… what were you doing in the kitchen?”
“My Lord came downstairs for water after his nightmare. I was preparing breakfast.”
Li Ya thought about it and it seemed reasonable, but then she reconsidered and found a problem!
“You… how did you know he had a nightmare?”
“When My Lord came downstairs, his mental state was very poor. I guessed.”
“And then?”
“Then I gave My Lord a hug.”
After she said that, Li Ya’s ears visibly turned red.
“A… a hug?”
“Yeah.”
“In the kitchen?”
“Yeah.”
“Four in the morning? Kitchen? A hug?”
Rex looked up at Li Ya.
“Why is your face so red? Did you catch a fever from getting rained on yesterday?”
“I am not blushing!!”
Li Ya took a deep breath and faced Hilda:
“How can you… how can you just hug him like that?!”
“Didn’t President Li Ya also hug My Lord before?”
“I… when?!”
“You were drunk then, don’t you remember? When I was helping you upstairs, you said you wanted to change into a ‘sexy under…”
“STOP!!!”
Li Ya nearly lunged to cover Hilda’s mouth.
Rex looked at her.
“What did you want to change into?”
“I did not!!! Hilda, don’t say another word!!!”
Rex looked at her with utter confusion, completely not understanding why she was overreacting.
The three of them finished breakfast in silence.
While Hilda was washing dishes at the sink, Li Ya quietly stood next to her again.
“Hilda.”
“I’m here.”
“That dream of his… was it really bad?”
“You could say that. My Lord didn’t tell you because he didn’t want you to worry.”
“Then why did he let you know?”
“Secret.”
Li Ya was silent for a few seconds.
“Secret… another secret. You two just love being riddles.”
Hilda turned to look at Li Ya.
“President Li Ya, there are some things My Lord will tell you honestly in the future. But not now. It’s for your own good.”
“For… my own good?”
Li Ya stared into her eyes for a long time, not understanding what that meant.
“You two… hmph, forget it.”
She walked out of the kitchen and passed through the living room.
Rex was standing by the window looking outside.
So she quickly walked over and hugged him from behind.
The movement was fast; by the time Rex turned his head to look at her, she had already let go.
“This is comfort for your nightmare. Hilda comforted you with a hug, so I’ll comfort you this way too. Don’t read too much into it.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the stairs.
Rex watched her disappear around the corner of the stairs, then reached up and touched the spot where he had been hugged.
“…Thanks.”
Hilda came out of the kitchen and glanced toward the stairs.
“President Li Ya ran off very quickly.”
“Yeah.”
“President Li Ya’s face is very red.”
“Red face… Is she running a fever? Prepare some cold medicine for her. It must be from getting rained on yesterday.”
Hilda looked at Rex’s completely serious face, thought for a moment…
Then silently nodded.
“Yes, My Lord.”
