“What do you plan to do?”
In the dark dungeon, Beiyao was concerned about Nie Qi’s next move.
“Are you afraid I’ll kill her right now?”
Nie Qi turned around and looked at Beiyao with interest.
She hadn’t chosen to cooperate with her randomly. This person was very similar to her former self—the type who couldn’t stand seeing others do well. Of course, she was still like that now.
The witch’s power gave her the capital to act without restraint. She didn’t need to hold back or worry about too many things. Most importantly, in this kingdom, she needed someone who could grasp the information here.
“I’m not worried about that.”
Beiyao glanced at Yilu, her eyes full of disgust.
“But letting her die like this now would be too easy. So I need to know what exactly you’re going to do?”
“What am I going to do?”
In the dim space, a flash of crimson passed through Nie Qi’s eyes. It was like a beast emerging from a dark forest, sending chills down one’s spine.
At the sudden change in tone, Nie Qi sensed something was wrong and instinctively took a step back.
As soon as she stepped back, Beiyao noticed that several thorn vines had crept out from the darkness, wrapping around her ankles. She tried to struggle, but no matter how hard she pulled, the thorns didn’t budge, like chains.
“Although we’re in a cooperative relationship, I forgot to tell you. I don’t like it when people ask me the same question twice. And I dislike your interrogative tone even more.”
For nearly a hundred years, she had acted alone. Everyone who dared to speak to her like that had died by her hands. She really didn’t know where Beiyao got the confidence to talk to her like that.
So-called nobles, even the royal family, were nothing but dust in her eyes, unworthy of restraining her.
At this moment, Beiyao realized that this person was even more terrifying than she had imagined. Beiyao tensed her face, trying not to show fear. She still didn’t give up struggling against the thorns at her feet.
“Little one, let me give you a piece of advice. Before you obtain the power to support your pride, you’d better restrain yourself a bit.”
Nie Qi approached Beiyao and blew a breath by her ear, stirring her hair. Being called that by Nie Qi, who was about the same age as her, Beiyao felt indignant. Given the current situation, she had no strength to resist. Beiyao realized that the person she was cooperating with seemed like a demon in human skin.
Nie Qi simply waved her hand, and the thorns on Beiyao’s feet retreated, causing her to stagger back a step.
“Don’t worry. Once I obtain the Nightmare Witch’s power, I’ll leave everything else to you.”
“Fine.”
Beiyao could only temporarily suppress her dissatisfaction and turn her anger toward Yilu.
“I want her dead, and I want her family disgraced. What’s with the witch bloodline? The kingdom doesn’t need this.”
“Hahaha.”
Nie Qi couldn’t help but laugh.
Yes, this was the resentment. People should hate and fear witches. Not like the Nightmare Witch, who actually had people in this kingdom grateful for her existence—that was what was wrong. Nie Qi would obtain the nightmare magic power. Beiyao would destroy the kingdom’s illusion of the Nightmare Witch. That was how the two reached a consensus.
As night grew deeper, Nie Qi looked up through the small window of the dungeon.
“It’s a full moon tonight. Perfect timing.”
“What’s special about a full moon?”
Nie Qi snorted coldly and reached out to catch the moonlight falling through the window.
“You don’t need to ask about that. Just prepare what you need to do later.”
On the ground, Yilu, nearly unconscious, was bound by thorns. Her entire body was suspended in midair, about to be taken away. Just as Nie Qi was about to move, in Beiyao’s eyes, she suddenly froze. A look of surprise appeared on her face.
“That guy.”
Nie Qi said in disbelief.
“That guy actually completely accepted the curse?”
In that instant, she clearly sensed the power and aura of the Witch of Nightmare Words. She was familiar with this aura, having met that little crybaby several times. Now that little crybaby had disappeared. The only one who obtained her power was that guy.
Even though she had deliberately provoked the curse earlier, she hadn’t been able to draw out the true power. Instead, he himself had given up suppressing it and completely unleashed the curse and power.
“Is that guy an idiot?”
Even she, if she truly had a way to suppress the curse, would choose to do so. Lyr had this special ability, yet he gave it up. She found it amusing. Then came a wave of disgust. It was as if what witches dreamed of—some even searching for all their lives—was treated with disdain by Lyr.
Nie Qi took a breath.
“Once I get the Nightmare Witch’s power, I’ll deal with you.”
Either Lyr would help her, or she would kill him herself. Obviously, the first possibility basically didn’t exist. So she couldn’t allow someone who could suppress the witch’s curse to exist. Not just for her, but for all witches, it was unfair.
“Remember what I just said.”
Nie Qi said this to Beiyao.
Then, the thorns rose up, smashing the small window into a large hole. The loud noise attracted the attention of the mansion’s guards. By the time they arrived, half of the dungeon had already collapsed. Beiyao coughed endlessly from the dust. When she came to her senses, Nie Qi and Yilu were already gone.
“Call some people and follow that woman.”
Although she didn’t know what exactly this woman intended to do, according to what she said, barring any surprises, tonight the Starting Bud Family’s reputation would be shattered.
Nie Qi, carrying Yilu, had just stepped onto a high building on a nearby street. She saw at the end of the street a figure on horseback rapidly approaching her. She knew why this guy had found her so quickly.
Under normal circumstances, as long as Beiyao didn’t mess up, even if the whole kingdom scoured the Royal Capital, they wouldn’t find her and Yilu’s whereabouts. But with the curse and power unrepressed, the connection between witches allowed Lyr to quickly sense her presence.
As the horse advanced, Lyr saw the figure standing there, back against the moonlight. He still couldn’t make out the face in the shadows. But the vague outline felt familiar. The other party didn’t leave in a hurry, standing there as if provoking him. Only when Lyr was about to get close did they turn and continue on with Yilu.
Lyr furrowed his brow, gripping the Thunder Spirit Blade tightly. He occasionally shook his head to stay lucid. All along the way, whenever he encountered people and they cast their gaze at him, the nightmare words would continuously emerge in Lyr’s mind, disturbing his reason.
