When An Ling sat back down, the video call had already been hung up by Li Yang.
In its place was the idiot who could be seen through the window.
When An Ling left, she hadn’t closed the curtains.
In the short time she went to get water, the Li Yang across from her had actually still been doing homework.
This guy seemed to have truly started wanting to study this time.
But that was fine too.
If she supervised him a bit more, maybe he could get a good score at the end of this semester.
The Li Yang across from her had his head buried, locked in battle with the homework in his hands.
With An Ling’s eyesight she could still see his slightly furrowed brows.
As expected, it was still a bit forced.
An Ling didn’t make a sound to disturb him and just quietly watched him through the window.
She could clearly see the lips he lightly pressed together when focused, and the brow that occasionally furrowed from thinking.
The person who was usually always laughing and never serious, when he got earnest… was unexpectedly quite good-looking.
Suddenly, the Li Yang across from her raised his head.
Their eyes met.
She hurriedly looked away and pretended to tidy the books on the desk.
These books were really books. This homework was really homework.
When she looked over again, Li Yang had already opened the window. He was also gesturing for An Ling to open hers as well.
An Ling opened the window, and Li Yang smiled.
“An Ling.”
“Ah!”
An Ling answered, her cheeks already a little red.
“That… I wasn’t peeking at you just now… I was just… spacing out.”
“Huh?”
The sudden explanation left Li Yang even more confused.
“I never said you were peeking at me. And if you want to look, just look. What is there between the two of us that needs peeking?”
“Nothing… it’s nothing.”
An Ling quickly changed the subject, afraid that if they kept talking she would say the wrong thing again.
“I just wanted to see if you could finish the remaining homework on your own.”
“Of course no problem. I’m exceptionally talented.” Li Yang said proudly.
“Yes, yes, yes. You’re talented. You only seemed stupid before because you were lazy.”
An Ling retorted unhappily, but she had to admit that Li Yang really was exceptionally talented.
“It’s fine if I’m a little lazy. Don’t I still have Teacher An Ling? I was a bit lazy before just so Teacher An Ling could impart knowledge to me.” Li Yang said with a grin. “With you here, am I still afraid of having no one to teach me? Can’t I just ask you directly?”
“You!”
An Ling was driven to laughter by Li Yang’s words.
“Am I your private tutor?”
“Aren’t you?”
Li Yang tilted his head with an innocent expression.
“You’ve been helping me with questions since we were little. How many years has it been until now? If you’re not a private tutor, then what are you?”
An Ling opened her mouth, wanting to say something to refute him, but for a moment she couldn’t find the right words.
This guy… what he said didn’t seem entirely wrong either…
“I’m too lazy to complain about you anymore. Go continue writing your homework. I’m going to get ready to rest.”
“Don’t rush.”
Li Yang said quickly.
“Chat a little longer. You’re free anyway.”
“Who said I’m free? I still have to get up early tomorrow to cook.”
“Then these few minutes won’t make a difference.”
Li Yang lay on the desk and leaned his face closer to the camera.
“An Ling, let me ask you a question.”
“What question? Still have questions you can’t do?”
“Of course not. I said I can finish writing them myself, so there’s absolutely no problem.”
“What I want to ask is, you…”
Li Yang drew out his voice.
“What do you think of me as a person?”
An Ling froze for a moment.
“What do you mean by ‘what do I think’?”
“Just… what kind of person do you think I am? It’s been so many years, and I’ve never asked this question, nor have I ever solemnly listened to your evaluation of me.”
Li Yang looked at her seriously, a trace of anticipation in his eyes.
An Ling felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and looked away.
“You… how should I put it? You’re probably an idiot.”
“Huh?”
“What do you mean ‘huh’?”
An Ling’s ears pressed back a little.
“You’re a heartless idiot who only knows how to sleep and play games every day, doesn’t write homework, and doesn’t listen in class. If it weren’t for me helping you, you would have long ago…”
“Long ago what?”
“Long ago been scolded to death by the teachers!” After finishing her complaint, An Ling continued. “But… you’re also a pretty good person. No, you should count as especially good. At least… at least to me.”
Li Yang smiled, his eyes narrowing into slits.
“I just knew that Lady An Ling scolds me with her mouth but still thinks I’m good in her heart.”
“Who thinks you’re good!”
An Ling’s fur fluffed up, and she immediately refused to acknowledge what she had just said.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself!”
“Alright, alright. I’m getting ahead of myself.” Li Yang laughed and raised both hands.
“Then which aspects does Lady An Ling think I’m better in?”
“I already said there aren’t any!”
“Just name a few. I really want to know.”
“Are you annoying or what!”
An Ling picked up a pen from the desk and made a motion as if to throw it.
“Don’t, don’t, don’t.”
Li Yang said hurriedly.
“I won’t ask anymore, I won’t ask.”
An Ling glared at him, put the pen down, and her tail swayed behind her.
“Do you still have anything else to say? If not, I’m hanging up.”
“I do.”
Li Yang said. “What do you want to eat tomorrow morning? I’ll bring it for you.”
“Whatever.”
“Alright. Then something with meat. I know you like that.”
“Then I’ll wait for you tomorrow morning. If you’re earlier, you wait for me.”
“Mm. Got it. Then I’m going to sleep.”
“Alright. Good night.”
“Good night.”
An Ling closed the window and, at the last moment, said softly.
“Thank you, you idiot.”
