Chapter 19: The Knight Sister Tastes Amazing

The dazzling holy light, radiant as the sun, slowly dissipated, and everything gradually returned to calm.  

Thick white smoke billowed forth, a massive spear embedded diagonally in the ground. 

The nearly hundred members of Sky Treader Guild surrounding the area had vanished, as if evaporated from existence.  

Paladin Aiya stood atop the roof, the setting sun casting a crimson-gold halo behind her, making her appear like an indomitable goddess of war.  

Bai Yue Ling’s cherry lips parted slightly. 

“This is… way too strong, isn’t it?”  

Though the crisis was resolved, she felt no joy.  

A level 30 paladin in a novice village… 

How was she supposed to corrupt that to the dark side?!  

She wanted to drag that infuriating succubus over, point at Aiya, and say, 

“Think it’s easy to just hand out quests? You try corrupting her!”  

At that moment, Aiya leapt from the roof, landing with a thunderous crash, leaving deep footprints in the ground.  

She approached Bai Yue Ling, her long skirt beneath her armor fluttering in the wind. 

The anger from earlier was gone, replaced by the gallant aura of a knight.  

“Little girl, are you okay?”  

Aiya’s eyes were resolute yet gentle as she helped Bai Yue Ling to her feet, looking kindly at the seemingly frightened, delicate girl.  

Staring at the tall, heroic female knight, Bai Yue Ling felt a twinge of fear.  

She’s a big sister, sure, but a chaste paladin—surely she wouldn’t try anything with me, right?  

Seeing no hostility in Aiya, Bai Yue Ling hesitated, bit her lip, and suddenly let out a sob:  

“Wahhh… Big sister, I was so scared…”  

Bai Yue Ling deployed her greatest social skill—disguise.  

In front of helpful big sisters, she played the weak maiden; with clueless ones, she acted the wise confidante; and for battle-loving ones, she posed as a gaming prodigy.

“So, this Sky Treader Guild not only killed your entire family and stole your parents’ inheritance, but last month they took all the gold you begged for, sent your adopted stray cats and dogs to the slaughterhouse last week, and even tried to sell you to an evil big sister at the slave market yesterday?”  

Bai Yue Ling rubbed her red, teary eyes. 

“Wahhh… Yes, big sister, you have to get justice for me!”  

Aiya said gravely, “By the laws of the Tribunal… these people deserve death!”  

“But sister, otherworld travelers can revive.”  

“Then I’ll make sure they never dare set foot in our world again.”  

Aiya tore a strip of cloth from her skirt and carefully wiped the blood from Bai Yue Ling’s arrow wound.  

“As long as you’re in this novice village, I promise no one will bully you.”  

“Okay…”  

“There’s still blood on your thigh—tsk, and on your face too. They went too far.”  

“Thank you, sister…”

With a cold glare at Aiya, Ying Ye leapt off the roof, vanishing into the forest below.

“Alright. I live in a house east of the village. If they bully you again, come straight to me,” Aiya said, clenching her fist. 

“Bullying the weak is a sin I can’t tolerate… Their actions are worse than the scum of the dark faction!”  

Bai Yue Ling instinctively shrank back, not daring to speak.  

The dark faction scum you despise most is standing right in front of you…

Xue Zhongxun Mei, revived and furious, stormed back with her lackeys, glaring at Bai Yue Ling.  

Aiya’s eyes turned cold. 

“I was wondering where to find you, and you delivered yourselves to me.”  

But Xue Zhongxun Mei didn’t back down, exuding confidence.  

“Lady Knight, please calm down and listen. You’ve been deceived. We attacked her for a reason!”  

She pointed at Bai Yue Ling, her eyes brimming with malice.  

“Because this priest hero… is actually a spy sent by the dark faction to infiltrate our novice village!”
