“Ugh, they just keep coming!”
Brandishing the long whip formed by [Eternal Night], I sent charging Warriors and encroaching Rogues flying, but the relentless waves of players filling in were wearing me down.
Melee classes were already a handful, not to mention the real damage dealers in the distance—various Mages and Archers.
Though their attacks didn’t do much, the constant healing from Paladins and Priests was another issue I needed to address.
Now I can kinda understand the struggles and helplessness those BOSSes felt in my past life…
“Man, fighting a BOSS with human wave tactics is the absolute worst!”
But regretting it now was pointless. I could only blame my earlier impulsiveness for landing me in this encirclement. Those Dark Bats and the two Elite minions were tied up by other players, completely unable to help me.
I need to break out of this encirclement, or the energy gains from killing these frontline classes are just too low.
With that in mind, I abandoned unnecessary defense, letting [Eternal Night] morph into a massive shadow, launching frenzied attacks around me.
The cost was immediate: magic and arrows hitting me spiked, and though each dealt only single-digit damage, their sheer numbers made the onslaught fierce.
83%, 82%, 81%…
When my health finally dropped to 80%, a smirk curled my lips.
Now the real battle begins.
Without hesitation, I locked onto the farthest player in my sight—a Warrior outside the wall of Warriors and Paladins—and activated [Eternal Night Dash].
My petite form turned into a black phantom, closing the distance in an instant. So close, I could clearly see the target’s stunned expression, still processing what was happening.
But my lips had already parted, revealing cute fangs.
“Time to dig in.”
One, two, three…
It was like the tolling of an evening bell, but in truth, it was the searing pulse of [Eternal Night Dash]’s hunt coursing through my blood.
Warriors, normally the backbone of a team, prided themselves on their defense, but it was no match for a Commander-tier BOSS’s overwhelming attack power. Coupled with the stat boosts from [Eternal Night Dash]’s kills, my targets were torn apart like paper.
Eight, nine, ten.
Casually tossing the last prey aside as they vanished into light, I licked the blood from my lips, feeling a lingering thrill.
“So, who’s next?”
But before my cool line could fully land, a massive cheer erupted around me. Driven by their loli obsession, the players seemed even more frenzied than before.
“I want to be licked by that cute loli too~”
“Me, me, me!”
“Wifey, come suck my blood!”
I knew these guys were perverts, so why do I keep saying pointless stuff like this over and over?
I couldn’t help but facepalm, though my movements didn’t slow one bit.
The phantom struck again.
Before the encirclement could close, the black shadow shot like an arrow from a bow, swiftly pouncing on a nearby target.
The boiling in my blood roared once more.
The stat buffs ticking up on my status bar were like a hunter tallying their past trophies.
But what I didn’t expect was for the evening bell’s final note to abruptly halt, cut off prematurely.
“They didn’t die?”
Landing in front of my last target, I was stunned for a moment by their surprisingly high defense and HP.
Big Sister Shuiyan?
Seeing that familiar, coolly elegant face, my mouth fell open slightly, making my already delicate features look even cuter, while her vibrant eyes sparkled with an enchanting glow.
Before I could react, I was suddenly enveloped in a warm embrace. At the same time, Shuiyan’s calm yet faintly cheerful voice sounded in my ear. “I pulled the BOSS’s aggro.”
Wait, what kind of aggro-pulling is this? You’re almost out of HP—go hide in the back and heal!
“So soft…”
That’s your real goal, isn’t it!
Seeing the cool beauty show no signs of letting go, even reaching for my tail, and with players starting to close in around us, I sighed and activated [Eternal Night Dash] toward a distant target.
I left behind a dazed Shuiyan, staring at her empty arms.
And the rapidly approaching Roseheart girls, overflowing with maternal aura.
“How’d it feel to hug her? Must’ve been amazing!”
“So jealous~”
“Ugh, I knew I shouldn’t have played a Mage. A Shield Warrior would’ve been better—then I could tank and get close to the loli!”
“Or you might end up face-to-face with a Goblin Elite.”
In a situation like this, Roseheart’s ability to enthusiastically discuss unrelated topics could be considered a traditional art form.
Even their leadership was no different.
“Shuiyan, if you’d held on a bit longer, I might’ve gotten a hug too,” Red Coral sighed regretfully.
“You’re a Fire Mage—stay out of it,” Doran shot back, exposing her, then turned her gaze to Shuiyan. “Don’t you think it’s weird? Why didn’t she keep attacking you and just ran off?”
The girls, prompted by her words, noticed the oddity but couldn’t come up with answers.
Shuiyan shook her head, a flicker of confusion in her clear eyes, her tone hesitant. “It felt… familiar.”
“Oh, Shuiyan, be honest—did you secretly buy some loli doujinshi behind our backs~?” Red Coral teased.
Catching the looks thrown her way, Red Coral quickly adopted a slightly more serious tone. “Alright, no more joking. This BOSS has high intelligence. Maybe she was in a hurry to escape the encirclement, so she didn’t keep attacking Shuiyan.”
The explanation seemed plausible, and the discussion gradually died down. But then Doran snapped to attention.
“Wait, don’t stop to chat! Frontline Warriors, Paladins, and Rogues, catch up! Everyone else, protect the backline!”
“Mages and Archers, keep up the DPS, stick to the rotation order, and don’t get too close. Warlocks, help handle nearby mobs.”
“Priests, focus on the front, but don’t fixate on your targets. Heal anyone low on HP.”
Red Coral corrected her from the side. “I get how you feel, but you’re pointing at another guild’s team.”
I wasn’t paying attention to what was happening with Roseheart—or rather, in this situation, I didn’t have time to care.
Perhaps because of their experience fighting the Dark Bat King, the guilds were well-prepared. Each had stationed Warriors and Paladins around their backline classes.
This was to prevent a repeat of the Dark Bat King’s devastating rear-line ambush.
When my third [Eternal Night Dash] hit Starry Myth’s Mage team, I barely had time to bully those squishy classes before Warriors and Paladins disrupted me. Realizing this, I shifted my focus to smaller guilds or solo players.
These players were far slower to organize defensive lines than the major guilds, giving me more chances to unleash my attacks freely.
But what I didn’t expect was a new regional announcement popping up out of nowhere.
