Looking at Hwijun, who whispered his explanation, Hayoon asked, โSo, to settle the past, he dragged you off and beat you up?โ
โYeah, thatโs how it went. Hence this,โ Hwijun said, pointing to his jaw, still bruised purple.
Seeing Hayoon and Hwijun whispering, Sihoo grabbed a frying pan and banged it. Clang, clang.
โHey, you two! Hands idle?โ Sihoo called.
Hayoon and Hwijun quickly finished cleaning the dining area. By 8 a.m., in just 90 minutes, the three had completed all preparations. A simple breakfast lay before them on the table.
Hwijunโs eyes widened at the spread. โWhatโs this?โ
โStaff meal. Gotta eat to work,โ Sihoo said.
On the table were eggplant stir-fry, cabbage kimchi, egg rolls, rice, and steaming soup. Hwijunโs mouth watered at the sight. โLetโs eat quick.โ
โButโฆโ Hwijun trailed off, glancing at the kitchen and then Sihooโs face. โYou prepped all ingredients and food in 90 minutes and made staff breakfast?โ
Shaking his head, Sihoo said, โDude, other chefs do that. You just havenโt seen it. Iโm not even fast.โ
Hayoon, waving a chopstick, laughed. โKid, youโre insanely fast. Even Kanghoon couldnโt keep up.โ
Sihoo thought of Kanghoon. โHyung was fast. He flew around the kitchen.โ
Hayoon nodded vaguely. โLetโs eat. That YouTuberโs almost due.โ
Hwijun paused, then asked, โHyung, what if he doesnโt show on time?โ
โWhat can we do? Heโll have to wait in line,โ Hayoon said.
Hwijun recalled a viewerโs negative comment about Ddakddaguri during his own stream after Sihooโs beating. Looking at Sihoo, who was eating side dishes, he asked, โIf that YouTuber eats and leaves without paying, whatโll you do?โ
Sihoo set down his chopsticks, meeting Hwijunโs eyes. โLook at the ceiling.โ
Hwijun spotted a CCTV camera in the corner. โCCTV? Whatโs that for?โ
โKanghoon hyung installed it. Crystal-clear audio and video. Wanna run?โ Sihoo said, taking a bite of soup. โIโll give you the footage, and you can stream it.โ
Hayoon and Hwijun choked on their food, coughing. Cough, cough.
โSo, if Ddakddaguri pulls something, youโll make him pay?โ Hayoon asked.
Sihoo nodded firmly. โObviously. Kanghoon quit his job, and I took over. No oneโs messing with this place.โ
Hayoonโs lips curved slightly at Sihooโs resolute tone and gaze.
56804 opened at 10 a.m. Hayoon had told Ddakddaguri to arrive around 9:30 a.m. Checking the clock, Sihoo saw the YouTuber still hadnโt shown as the time approached. He prepared ingredients, pre-cooking what he could for the morning rush.
โThe shrimp were great. Should I make shrimp stew?โ Sihoo mused, planning a clear, spicy shrimp jjigae. Shrimp, warm in nature and sweet-salty in taste, were known in herbal texts to protect kidneys and boost vitality. โItโs good for stress, too. Perfect for a YouTuber,โ Sihoo thought, considering Ddakddaguriโs high-pressure job.
While prepping shrimp, removing their innards, Sihoo saw Hayoon and Hwijun chatting in the dining area. Once we open, itโs chaos. Restingโs part of the job.
Suddenly, shouting came from outside. โLine up properly!โ
โWhat, being a YouTuber makes you special?โ
โDonโt cut! YouTuber or not, donโt you know basic manners?โ
Sihoo checked the clockโone minute to opening. Hwijun smirked, as if expecting the tardiness, and Sihoo shrugged, calling to Hayoon, โHyung! Serve customers in order of arrival.โ
โGot it,โ Hayoon replied.
Sihoo thought, Shouldโve been on time.
Ding-a-ling. The door opened, and two female students, regulars Juha and Saessuk, entered, grumbling about the YouTuber outside. โThinks heโs all that just โcause heโs a YouTuber?โ
โThose types always act entitled,โ Saessuk said.
Hwijun handed them menus. Juha, taking one, brightened. โOh? New oppa?โ
โStarted today. Call me when youโre ready,โ Hwijun said.
Juha stared. โWaitโฆ youโre that streamer Pukkumi, right?โ
Hwijun flinched. She recognizes me? He played it off. โPukkumiโs a sea creature. Do I look like one?โ
Juha waved her hands, flustered. โNo, not that Pukkumi!โ
Hwijun laughed, calming himself. โHaha, call me when youโve chosen.โ
Juha kept staring as he served other customers. Saessuk nudged her. โNot picking a menu?โ
โHuh? Oh!โ Juha snapped out of it.
The girls browsed, curious about todayโs specials but leaning toward spicy shrimp pasta, level 4 heat. โIโm craving spicy today,โ Juha said.
โSame,โ Saessuk agreed, raising a hand. โExcuse me!โ
Outside, Hayoon struggled with Ddakddaguri, Kim Cheolsu. The line grew longer, and the YouTuber, streaming live, vented. โThey wonโt let me in just โcause Iโm a bit late. Is this fair?โ
Hayoon, checking his watch, said calmly, โWe waited since dawn. Youโre late, and now youโre upset? What about the customers in line?โ
Cheolsu glared at the queue. โIโm a YouTuber with a reservation!โ
โThen you shouldโve been on time,โ Hayoon said.
The customersโ glares were icy. Cheolsu, frustrated, felt wronged. Everywhere else, restaurants welcomed him, even offering extra seats. But here? Nothing.
He glanced at his chat, filled with mockery and criticism:
- Guri, you messed up.
- They said one minute late, and youโre out. Didnโt listen, huh?
- Guriโs screwed lol.
- Wait like the rest. Donโt mess with the place.
- A bit late, and they block you? Harsh. Poor Guri.
- Late and whining? Typical.
Cheolsu tried to calm his viewers. โGuys, donโt fight.โ
Feeling slight relief, he said to Hayoon, โI was a bit late, but other places give me leewayโฆโ
Customers interrupted. โGet in line! So much talk for being late.โ
โYoung people these days, no manners. Timeโs precious for everyone.โ
โStaff, put him at the back!โ
Cheolsuโs eyes darted to Hayoon. โYouโre serious?โ
Hayoon pointed to the lineโs end, smirking.
โIโm the โFact Checkโ YouTuber! I reserved!โ Cheolsu protested.
โWe gave you leeway,โ Hayoon said loudly. โCome early, and we prioritize you. You didnโt. Your fault.โ
Cheolsu, fuming, apologized to the line and shuffled to the back, muttering, Theyโll regret this. Iโll say itโs overhyped, bad food, with my million subscribers.
Hayoon warned, โAbout an hourโs wait. Donโt leave the line, or youโre back to the end.โ
Cheolsu was stunned. Customers defending a restaurant? Unheard of.
Finally inside, Cheolsu filmed the interior. A customer, sensitive to privacy, complained to Hayoon, who apologized profusely and brought a dessert tray from Sihoo to appease them.
Hayoon confronted Cheolsu sharply. โWe said no filming inside. You promised to eat quietly.โ
Cheolsu, flustered, muted his stream. His chat exploded:
- Guri, is this a broadcast fail?
- Why mute? Whatโs up?
Frustrated, Cheolsu whispered, โI said Iโd avoid faces, but theyโre so picky. Iโm a customer too.โ
He added, โIf I subtitle this as terrible service, think theyโll thrive?โ
Sihoo, observing, brought a tray of food to Cheolsuโs table. โWhite porridge. Your empty stomachโs making you sensitive.โ
