“As expected, an ox only tastes right with a nose ring.”
It wasn’t a toy.
What Levan took out was truly a nose ring.
And not just any nose ring, but one of a size that no ordinary ox could ever wear.
Of course, you would never find something like this being sold at an auction house.
Who in the world would make a nose ring for a Minotaur just for fun?
This was a custom order that Levan had specifically requested from Pessna and the blacksmiths.
Levan hung the nose ring at his waist and then drew his bamboo spear.
A bamboo spear, sharp to the extreme thanks to its penetration attribute.
Without hesitation, Levan plunged the spear straight into the nose of the sleeping Black Minotaur.
Squelch!
“Ugh, that must hurt.”
Perhaps because of the penetration attribute, its sharpness was second to none.
Levan inserted and withdrew the spear several times to widen the hole between the nostrils.
Even in the midst of all this, the Black Minotaur didn’t wake up.
That’s how potent the Sleep Toxin of the Goblin Leader was.
Finally, after finishing the hole, Levan fitted the nose ring he had prepared into the creature’s nose.
“Moo—oo—oo!!”
“Ugh, so noisy. You should get some sleep too.”
Thunk!
The one who cried out was none other than the already-fallen Brown Minotaur.
It would have been nice to shoot him with a tranquilizer from the start, but Levan had purposely only used the tranquilizer on the Black Minotaur.
That way, the situation would become more dramatic.
Having finished the nose ring job on the Black Minotaur, Levan proceeded to fit a nose ring on the Brown Minotaur in exactly the same way.
‘Phew, now shall I begin the next task?’
Putting nose rings on two Minotaurs was no easy feat.
But the next job would require even more effort and be far more demanding.
However, Levan didn’t feel tired at all.
He was already excited for the fun spectacle that was about to unfold.
---
“Grnnng...”
A snort of hot breath.
Blinking eyelids.
They belonged to the Black Minotaur.
After some time passed, the Black Minotaur slowly began to regain consciousness.
Snort— Snort—
Its nose tickled, and it forcefully exhaled.
Normally, a few snorts would have cleared its nose, but for some reason, the itch only grew worse rather than better.
Clink!
“Grnng?”
The sound of clinking finally brought the Black Minotaur fully to its senses. It then discovered the source of the itch.
It was the nose ring hanging from its nose.
Startled, the Black Minotaur leaped to its feet. But—
Wobble— Thud!!
It lost its balance and collapsed.
Its body felt twice as heavy as usual.
Only then did the Black Minotaur realize that something was attached to its left arm and left leg.
It was none other than the Brown Minotaur, still deep in sleep like itself had been.
At that moment—
“Hello, this is Levan.”
A familiar voice sounded from somewhere.
Instinctively, the Minotaur’s anger flared up—it had to be that guy.
But Levan didn’t so much as glance at the Black Minotaur, instead looking into the camera as he continued his commentary.
“Today’s content is Levan the Veterinarian. What’s that, you say?”
With his words, he began to put on a white coat.
This time, he even hung a stethoscope around his neck.
Of course, he wouldn’t actually use it.
It just made him look more like a doctor, so he’d bought it from the auction house for the effect.
Levan spoke.
“A bullfight show again would be boring, don’t you think? So today, I’ve prepared a veterinarian segment. As a kind-hearted vet, no less. Ah, just in time, I see some bull friends over there.”
Finishing his line, Levan finally shifted his gaze toward the Black Minotaur.
The Black Minotaur, still somewhat under the influence of the drug, was unable to rise.
“Wait, looking closely, our black ox friend doesn’t look so well. And he’s even got a yellow ox attached to him... Huh? Everyone, look! There’s an injury on the shin of that fallen ox!”
A wound on the shin.
It was from the bamboo spear Levan had thrown. But Levan lied without batting an eye.
“How pitiful... Wait? But that nose ring! There’s no reason for a wild ox to have a nose ring. Doesn’t that mean these friends might actually be someone’s domesticated cattle?”
The reason he had prepared the nose rings.
It was all for this one moment of commentary.
Seemingly satisfied with his prepared line, Levan continued with a pleased expression.
“That won’t do, everyone. I have a warm heart, so I can’t just pass by these poor animals. From now on, I’ll rescue them and help them find their owner. Let’s begin the examination.”
Having finished, Levan stuck the stethoscope in his ears and held the chest piece in one hand, then started walking toward the Minotaurs.
Noticing Levan’s approach, the Black Minotaur let out a furious bellow.
“Moo—oo—oo—oo!!”
“Whoa, you startled me! With my stethoscope in, you nearly burst my eardrums. Still, that friend has a good set of lungs. In that sense, let’s check ‘good vocal power.’”
As the agitated black ox bellowed, Levan removed the stethoscope from his ears, took out an acrylic clipboard with a sheet of paper wedged in, and a pen.
Levan made a show of ticking a box on the paper as he spoke nonchalantly.
“Don’t get me wrong. I’m a veterinarian. So I have to gather as much information as possible about new patients. That way, I can provide better medical service.”
“Moo—oo—oo—hoo!!”
“My, what a voice. Actually, it almost sounds like there’s some soul in that cry. Is that what they call the ‘herding singing style’ or whatever? I’m not an expert on music, but anyway, it sounds nice, so let’s check off ‘good singing ability’ too.”
Levan once again pretended to check a box.
Then he drew out a kite shield, as tall as himself, from his inventory and held it in his left hand.
“This is a kite shield made of pure black iron. Very heavy, yes, but it’s incredibly sturdy. If I had the strength, it’d be nice to subdue that friend with my bare hands, but as you know, I’m a veterinarian. And a liberal arts graduate at that. If I didn’t carry a shield like this, I might get flattened.”
Instead of his usual stone shield, Levan deliberately took out the black iron kite shield.
It was far more efficient for pure defense since he wouldn’t be counterattacking.
With the kite shield ready, Levan approached the Black Minotaur much faster than when he was holding the stethoscope.
The moment he entered the creature’s range.
The Black Minotaur’s free right fist came flying at Levan.
Whoosh!
The poison was still lingering, but this was a punch from the Black Minotaur.
Watching the arc of the incoming punch, Levan raised his shield.
Clang!!
“Moo—oo—oo—oo!!”
A metallic clash rang out as the Black Minotaur’s fist bounced off.
Shielding himself with the kite shield, Levan lowered it slightly and said,
“As expected of a black iron shield. The defense is outstanding. Even a veterinarian like me, a liberal arts graduate, can block attacks with ease.”
Levan joked as he winked at the camera.
He continued, hiding behind the kite shield as he approached the sleeping Brown Minotaur.
“Sleeping soundly, oblivious to the pain. But this friend has remarkably long, pretty eyelashes. In that sense, let’s check ‘pretty eyelashes.’”
“Moo—oo—oo!!”
The Black Minotaur’s fist bounced off again.
But while the punches were bouncing off, it wasn’t as if the Minotaur’s will to fight was being repelled.
In fact, the sharp pain that jolted up its fist with each blow seemed to clear the lingering poison in a flash.
Now fully alert, the Black Minotaur began raining down punches like a storm.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The Black Minotaur’s fists struck relentlessly.
But Levan, unconcerned with the blows, kept hiding behind the kite shield, continuing his checklist routine with absolute composure, verse after verse, refrain after refrain.
‘It really doesn’t hurt at all.’
Apparently, Levan’s strength stat was higher than the Black Minotaur’s.
Otherwise, with all these punches, he’d at least be pushed back, but he didn’t budge, nor did he take any real damage.
So, after continuing the checklist play to his satisfaction, Levan took a tranquilizer gun out from his coat.
Looking at the camera, he spoke.
“Hm, for a thorough examination, I’ll need both hands. But for that, this friend needs to calm down first.”
Thunk!
[You have used Goblin Leader’s Sleep Toxin.]
[The target falls into a deep sleep.]
Thud!
With a single dose of the tranquilizer, the Black Minotaur sank into deep slumber.
As expected of the Goblin Leader’s Sleep Toxin.
“Now things have quieted down. Let’s begin the real examination. Nurse, flashlight? Yes~!”
Levan answered his own call.
There was no nurse, but he did it for the atmosphere.
Levan pulled out a flashlight he had bought at the auction house in advance.
But instead of a typical medical flashlight, a thick industrial flashlight emerged from his coat.
“They sell all sorts of things at the auction house. But this isn’t an industrial light, it’s a medical tool. After all, my patient is a Minotaur, right?”
With a wink, he lifted the eyelid of the sleeping Brown Minotaur.
A huge white eyeball was revealed.
The black pupil rolled around on it like an egg yolk.
It meant the creature was deeply asleep.
Levan shone the flashlight meaninglessly into the upturned eye a few times, then checked his checklist.
“Eyes very white, check... Now, the results are in. This friend has a penetrating wound on the shin. Maybe it stepped on a trap? But to find out if the wound really hurts, we need to ask the patient himself. Let’s wake him up now.”
With that, Levan stretched out his hand.
Then, with all his strength, he began slapping the Brown Minotaur across the face.
Smack! Smack! Smack!
“Patient! Patient! Wake up! Patient! What’s your father... No, patient!”
“Moo—oo!!”
A few slaps was all it took to start draining its health.
After several more, the Brown Minotaur’s eyes snapped open as it let out a terrible cry.
Understandable.
It was Levan’s slap, after all.
But as the Brown Minotaur tried to spring up in surprise, it lost its balance, just as the Black Minotaur had, due to being bound to the other, and collapsed.
“Oh dear... The wound must be serious. Otherwise, there’s no reason not to get up right away, right? I’ll begin treatment now. Patient, does your shin hurt a lot?”
“Moo—oo—oo—oo!!”
“This is serious. I’ll begin the procedure at once. Nurse, morning star!”
Calling for a nurse, Levan drew a black iron mace from his coat.
Mace in hand, he immediately pulled out a bookmark and shouted at the Brown Minotaur.
“Freezing!”
[Freezing is activated.]
Crackle!
The wounded shin began to freeze over from the spell.
Once it was completely encased in ice, Levan swung the black iron mace at it, and the Brown Minotaur’s leg shattered like glass.
[You have hunted the Brown Minotaur.]
“...Huh?”
A notification of successful hunt popped up before his eyes.
Levan, still holding the mace, froze for several seconds.
Then, with a flustered expression, he shook the camera.
“That’s it for today’s broadcast!! Goodbye, everyone!!”
The second recording was over.
