“Still not letting us in, then it’s fate.”
She didn’t say whose fate.
Her voice, void of joy or sorrow, felt as cold as this place.
All around, everything froze solid.
Lu Xueyuan accelerated her glide.
At the Xiaoya Bay East District intersection, eight black armored vehicles sat across the road, forming two rows of barricades.
Petite Ayiguli and tall Xin Tong stood atop one of the front armored vehicles, watching the approaching stream of vehicles.
“Netting work is as boring as always.”
Ayiguli stretched lazily.
After waiting for most of the day, her bones had gone stiff.
“Stay focused. If a bunch of dead fish and shrimp slip through, we’ll be in trouble back at base.”
Xin Tong tugged at her right glove, her expression indifferent.
She was already in work mode.
“Xin Tong is too serious, that’s why no man chases her, right?”
Ayiguli lowered her arms and rolled her neck a few times.
A crisp cracking sound rang out on the scene.
“Nonsense. The men chasing me could line up from Pengcheng to Goose City.”
Xin Tong shot her a glare.
It seemed to hit a nerve.
“Haha, is that from the Pengcheng border to the Goose City border?”
Ayiguli covered her mouth with her small hand, her expression exaggerated.
As the two chatted, the cars and motorcycles had already arrived.
The main road was blocked by armored vehicles, forcing some to stop and get out.
With that kind of tonnage sitting there, ramming through wasn’t an option.
Let alone two full rows of them.
Those on motorcycles tried to veer onto the sidewalk, only to find it piled with spiked triangular barricades.
Unless they could fly, there was no getting past the multiple layers of roadblocks.
“You guys, this is far enough. It’s late, so head home and sleep.”
Ayiguli waved her small hand at the fierce-looking hunters, her expression calm, not a hint of panic.
“Are you kidding? This is the official game. What right does your Superpower Management Bureau have to interfere!?”
A tall guy in a flower shirt shouted in dissatisfaction.
It immediately struck a chord.
“That’s right, what right do you have!?”
“Go demand authority from the Game Manager if you dare!”
“There’s more of us. Let’s just charge through!”
“We still have time, brothers and sisters. Force our way in!”
Xin Tong looked down at the hunters about to charge, speaking with a blank expression:
“Who told you we aren’t participants?”
“You’re the ones who got it wrong.”
Ayiguli jumped off the vehicle and walked toward the crowd with light steps.
The hunters charging forward suddenly froze in confusion.
Because their bodies were uncontrollably floating into the air.
“Put me down!”
“What kind of power is this?!”
“Everyone be careful, this little one is tough!”
‘Little one?’
Ayiguli looked up, locking onto the flower shirt tall guy who’d badmouthed her, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
The next moment, the flower shirt tall guy was like a frog caught and slammed hard onto the ground.
A dull thud rang out, followed by a scream.
“I’ve changed my mind. I need to teach you a lesson.
Otherwise, anyone will think they can come at us.”
Ayiguli lightly raised her right hand, and all the hunters who’d just stopped were lifted into the air, panicking.
“Gravity, she can control gravity in an area!”
Someone shouted in horror.
Such an ability was extremely rare.
With mastery, she’d be at least AA-rank.
The hunters present were mostly C-rank, with few B-rank.
Naturally, they couldn’t resist.
Only the two remaining A-rank hunters at the edge were unaffected.
They seemed to have known about Ayiguli’s ability all along.
“Feels like this will be a bit tiring.”
Xin Tong leaped down, as fast as a bolt of lightning.
The two A-rank hunters instantly drew their weapons, preparing to respond.
One held a large handgun, the other a wide-bladed military knife.
The weapons they used were far from ordinary, able to channel their powers through them.
The moment Xin Tong landed, the knife-wielding hunter launched his attack, the blade carrying wind force, capable of easily slicing a body in two.
Without so much as a blink, she sidestepped the first strike, reached out her palm, and pressed it against his chest.
The force was incredibly light.
Yet the knife-wielding hunter let out a gurgling sound, blood flowing from seven orifices, and his military knife cracked apart with a crunch.
Then his eyes rolled back, and he passed out cold.
Seeing such a bizarre sight, the gun-wielding hunter turned and ran.
Facing an opponent with unknown abilities and greater strength, he couldn’t afford a head-on fight.
But running was the most dangerous move.
Because when the enemy is faster than you, showing your unprotected back was pure suicide.
Xin Tong shifted, pressing her pale hand onto him.
Again, blood from seven orifices, and his weapon shattered.
The floating hunters, seeing two A-rank ability users instantly taken down, broke out in cold sweat.
The Superpower Management Bureau truly hid dragons and crouching tigers, a nest of monsters.
Though those two were fairly watered-down A-ranks, an instant kill was an instant kill.
The key point was Xin Tong and Ayiguli had little reputation.
They didn’t even recognize them.
“I’m thinking of tossing you all up high, then smashing you down.”
Ayiguli said those terrifying words in a joking tone.
It scared the crowd into begging for mercy, swearing they wouldn’t resist and would obediently turn back.
“No.”
Ayiguli would believe them if pigs could fly.
Her small hand pressed down, and everyone slammed into the ground at high speed, screams rising one after another.
With the high-combat hunters taken care of, the team members behind the armored vehicles finally stepped in to clean up the mess.
“Trash is trash no matter how much comes.
Swallowing the sky, dreaming of eating swan meat.”
Ayiguli sat atop the armored vehicle, her face full of disdain.
Her aura was noticeably weaker than before.
Controlling that many hunters was clearly exhausting work.
But tired as she was, she still had to maintain her inscrutable bearing.
“The battle over the magic potion is about to end. Where’s the Deputy Director?”
Xin Tong landed beside her, mentioning the big leader they hadn’t been able to reach since last night.
“Maybe he ran off to Pengcheng?
After all, the Deputy Director is a complete airhead when it comes to directions.”
Ayiguli shrugged.
Xin Tong was about to say something else when her eyes caught something unusual.
A flake of falling snow drifted down.
While they were handling cleanup over here, over there, they were deep in crisis.
Yang Liuqing’s range of movement kept shrinking as the Tixianren’s Mind Threads tightened.
The war machine’s chest was almost done charging, dark light converging into a sphere, radiating a dangerous aura.
“If I surrender now, can I lose by half?”
Hearing Yang Liuqing’s words, the Tixianren paused for a moment, then broke into a smile:
“Too late, little sweetheart. Time to hit the road.”
The moment those words left her mouth, the dark sphere at the war machine’s chest finished charging, blasted out with a boom, transforming into a massive beam of light.
Yang Liuqing’s pupils contracted slightly.
She tried to dodge, only to find the Tixianren tightening the Mind Threads, turning her into a caged bird.
Nowhere to run.
Boom!
The beam struck dead on, dark light erupting, the deafening blast shattering the glass of nearby factory windows.
The Tixianren yanked with both hands, the ten Mind Threads rapidly tightening for a finishing blow, guarding against revival.
But soon, she felt something wrong with the sensation.
Then, red and purple light reflected in both their pupils.
They spiraled and intertwined, expanding violently outward!
