Chapter 28: Carola to the Rescue!

Adrian stiffly lowered his head, staring at the hands that had pierced through his chest.

Not a single drop of blood stained those hands, and the fingertips shimmered with a cold, jade-like luster.

In one of those hands, a heart was being held.

It was Adrian’s heart!

“Without permission…” a familiar voice rang in Phyllis’s ear, “how dare you touch my property! You have a death wish!”

‘Carola is here!’

Phyllis breathed a sigh of relief.

She had suspected Carola would arrive soon.

After all, something like this had happened in the Castle’s Dining Room, and she had been dragged here by Adrian.

How could Carola not know the moment she woke up?

Moreover, Phyllis bore the mark of the Master-Servant Contract.

Carola could easily sense her location through the mark.

There was no fear of her losing the way.

Adrian’s clouded red pupils suddenly contracted and then dilated.

A strange, eerie light suddenly lit up in Carola’s red eyes.

She didn’t dodge or hide.

She simply raised her right hand and made a grasping motion in the empty air.

The Black Beam, which was powerful enough to destroy a city wall, struck an invisible wall 3 inches from Carola’s palm and could no longer advance.

The Black Beam exploded with a bang, turning into black mist that scattered across the sky.

Carola moved.

Phyllis only saw an afterimage tear through the night. In the next second, Carola had already appeared above the giant beast’s head.

Wearing her small red boots, Carola stepped onto the giant beast’s skull, her movements as elegant as someone lightly tapping their toes at a ball.

Adrian Gangrel begged as his sanity returned.

However, Carola turned a deaf ear.

Blood Fire erupted from Carola’s palm, instantly surging into the giant beast Adrian’s head.

The giant beast Adrian’s massive body twitched violently.

Under its black fur, it looked as if countless small snakes were slithering about.

“Flash!”

Blood Fire began to burn across the giant beast’s body.

The fire was intense, but strangely, it did not spread to the surroundings.

It focused solely on burning Adrian.

No matter how much the beast rolled around, the flames would not extinguish!

In a short while, Adrian’s mountain-like body began to rapidly shrink and shrivel.

Finally, after the Blood Fire stopped burning, only a patch of ash remained on the spot.

A night breeze blew by, scattering the ashes.

The battle was over.

From the moment Carola appeared to the moment Adrian was reduced to ashes, less than 5 minutes had passed.

Phyllis lay on the ground.

By now, her calf had recovered, though it still hurt. However, her attention was entirely on Carola.

Phyllis jolted and looked up.

Carola was already standing in front of her.

Faint light still lingered on the tips of her white hair, and her red eyes stared down at her from above.

Moonlight spilled over Carola’s exquisite profile.

She was so beautiful she didn’t seem real, yet she was cold without a hint of warmth.

“Injured?”

Carola’s gaze swept over the three gashes of rolled-up flesh on Phyllis’s calf, her brow furrowing imperceptibly.

“I-I’m fine, meow! Master, you came just in time!” Phyllis squeezed out a smile, trying to brush it off.

“This small injury will soon be…”

Before she could finish, Carola’s hand had already covered the wound on her calf.

A bone-chilling yet strangely vibrant power surged into the wound.

Phyllis could clearly see the flesh at the injury site rapidly writhing and knitting back together.

A few seconds later, the wound was completely healed, leaving not even a scar.

However, Carola’s hand did not pull away.

“You just said… that you were with me only because I’m beautiful?”
