Chapter 16: So Please Watch Closely, My Transformation

Everyone has probably fantasized about being the one and only in this world.

As a child, you’d fantasize that when you reached the age you saw on TV, around fifteen or sixteen, a world crisis would occur.

At that moment, you would become the chosen one, power in your grasp.

In that instant, shouting about love, bonds, friendship, or whatever, you’d charge at the enemy.

Then, once you entered society, that feeling would slowly fade, until finally you became just another face in the crowd, indistinguishable from the masses.

Lin Yi struggled back to her dorm. She didn’t feel that being reborn had made her the one and only.

Even with the System, she didn’t have any thoughts of conquering the world or becoming the strongest human.

After all, the System couldn’t directly give her money. She still had to work hard for everything herself. It was far inferior to Deep Blue.

But she still held onto that childhood expectation and, after earning money, responded to it.

She was so exhausted that she had to take a shower and sleep, not waking up until after two in the afternoon.

Yan Jianxing still hadn’t returned. It was the perfect time to inspect her goods.

She turned on her phone’s video recording function and unboxed the package in front of the camera.

One belt unit, requiring four AA batteries to operate, and a toy phone modeled after One条桑’s.

Toei, you owe us One条桑 a belt!

As for the other parts, like the Sublimation Form Leg Armor, Lin Yi tried it on and found it was a size too big for her legs. She’d probably only be able to use it for display, not for actual combat.

Everything was fine. That older brother hadn’t even peeled off the protective film on the belt before selling it to her at such a low price.

Touching.

Following the online tutorial step by step, she carefully installed it and then fastened the belt around her waist.

The weight of it was something she would never forget.

Finally, it was time for the transformation…

She closed her eyes, imagining herself in a burning church, facing the Bat Guronji, with the fallen One条桑 at her side, speaking the classic lines…

Bang bang bang.

“Is anyone there?”

Lin Yi opened her eyes, immediately took off the belt, stuffed it into her backpack, and opened the door.

It was someone from the Student Council. They were doing a fire and theft prevention safety campaign sign-off and also notifying everyone that there would be visitors from other schools touring the campus this afternoon.

Lin Yi signed the safety form with a sigh and saw the Student Council member off.

The dorm wasn’t safe, and the soundproofing was terrible. It seemed she needed to relocate.

Carrying the belt in her backpack, she headed behind the teaching building.

On weekend afternoons, hardly any students came to the teaching building to study. She could let loose freely.

Lin Yi put the belt on again, closed her eyes, and imagined herself in a burning church…

It’s connecting, Five Generations!

Even the BGM started playing. So satisfying.

In reality, Lin Yi had pressed the button on the belt, and the belt’s built-in speaker played the music and lines.

‘I’m going to fight!’

‘Why do you keep saying things like that!’

Lin Yi shouted in sync with the lines, “I don’t want to see…”

“I don’t want to see you anymore!”

What the hell, there’s an echo?!

Lin Yi quickly turned off the belt and peeked around the corner of the wall.

A girl was throwing an envelope at another girl, screaming hysterically, “Go spend your life with that guy! You kept saying you loved me, but in the end, you still got a boyfriend!”

Then, one ran, the other chased, and the two girls disappeared from sight.

Lin Yi silently put away the belt. It seemed this place wasn’t safe either.

Come to think of it, how could they even have romantic relationships at this All-Girls School? Wasn’t that nonsense?

Lin Yi thought these people were sexually repressed to the extreme. She wasn’t like that. She only loved transforming.

So, Lin Yi moved to the back of the Club Building.

It was a bit noisy here, but since the outdoor basketball court was right next to it, most people’s attention was on the basketball and the girls playing.

This was hiding in plain sight!

Lin Yi put on the belt for the third time, closed her eyes, and imagined herself in a burning church…

It’s connecting again, Five Generations!

‘I don’t want to see… anyone shedding tears because of these creatures anymore!’

Ugh, ughhh, locked in fierce combat with the Guronji!

‘I want everyone to be happy!’

“So please watch closely…”

Thump!

Bounce, bounce, bounce!

A basketball bounced to a stop at Lin Yi’s feet.

“Don’t hit the basketball like it’s a baseball!”

“Hey, hey, hey, don’t think you can show off just because you see so many visiting underclassmen, you jerks. Have some restraint!”

The girl who came to retrieve the basketball arrived behind the Club Building, only to see the lonely back of someone leaving with a backpack, unsure what they had been doing there.

Lin Yi finally arrived at the school’s back hill. Surely, there would be no one here this time.

She was determined to recreate the classic line transformation today. If she didn’t transform, she wasn’t human!

Lin Yi put on the belt for the fourth time, closed her eyes, and imagined herself in a burning church…

Five Generations, I promise this is the last time I’ll connect!

Four times! Four times!

Forgot the beginning, forgot the middle, forgot the end.

Anyway, she had to deliver the line immediately.

“So please watch closely…”

“Waaaaah—”

Lin Yi was exhausted.

She opened her eyes and saw a little boy crying and wandering around the woods on the back hill.

How could a little boy spawn in the back hill of an All-Girls School?

The boy wiped his eyes and also saw the pretty big sister wearing a belt, striking a strange pose next to a camphor tree.

For a moment, the boy even forgot how to cry, just staring blankly at Lin Yi.

Lin Yi blinked, then took two steps forward, squatting down halfway. “What’s wrong? What are you doing here alone?”

The little boy looked at Lin Yi’s belt and said between sobs, “I, I, can’t find my sister.”

So he was lost and crying.

If it were a girl, she’d probably say the boy was cute, but since Lin Yi’s inner self was male, at this moment, she could only say…

“You might not understand, but I think a man who can keep smiling even in a tough situation is the coolest!”

The boy didn’t quite understand why this pretty big sister suddenly said something so random.

Seeing the boy was about to cry again, Lin Yi sighed and put her hands on her hips.

Sound effects played from the belt, and then Lin Yi struck the transformation pose.

“So please watch closely… my, transformation!”

The LED red light on the belt instantly lit up, and the little fan whirred.

Lin Yi felt she had achieved self-redemption.

Then, she gave the boy a thumbs-up of approval.

But the boy stared at the belt and said, “Big sister, why doesn’t this belt have a slot for cards?”

Huh?

“Why doesn’t this belt have a handle to spin?”

What?

“Why can’t this belt take a lock or a phone?”

Heh.

Shallow!

The little boy pouted. “It’s not as good as my classmate’s.”

Lin Yi was about to overheat.

“Little friend, do you know how much this belt costs, talking to me like that?”

Lin Yi instantly matured into an adult, starting to measure the whole world with money.

The little boy was intimidated. He couldn’t guess how much this thing cost.

“Su Ji! You’re here! I’ve been looking for you for ages!”

“Sister!”

The little boy ran past Lin Yi. The younger sister of Su Kui, whom she had seen at the restaurant at noon—Su Xun—appeared before Lin Yi.

Come to think of it, that was indeed the case.

Was this a coincidence?

Su Xun scolded Su Ji thoroughly, then turned to Lin Yi. “Thank you, Sister Lin. It’s a good thing you were here.”

“No, no, I just happened to run into him. I was just taking a walk here, so it’s fate, hahaha.”

She was not taking a walk.

The little boy Su Ji hugged his sister, tears falling again. “I lost the Spark Lens Sister Kui gave me. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find it, and then… I got lost.”

“Silly, it’s just a toy. If it’s lost, I’ll buy you another one. But if you got lost, what would your sister and I do?”

After comforting him for a while, Su Xun bowed in thanks. “Thank you, Sister Lin. We should get going now. The teacher over there is quite worried.”

“Wait.”

Lin Yi stopped the two of them, looked at the belt on her waist, and took it off.

She handed it to Su Ji, winked, and said, “If you lost your Spark Lens, how will you fight monsters and protect world peace? I’ll lend you this belt!”

Su Xun immediately looked worried. “Sister Lin, that’s not good. What if he loses it again…”

“It’s fine. Letting the kid play with it for a couple of days won’t hurt.”

Su Xun looked at Su Ji and reluctantly gave in. “Alright. Then tomorrow, I’ll have Sister Kui return it to you.”

Even though Su Ji had just been criticizing the belt, now that he actually held it in his hands, his eyes sparkled. He kept thanking the big sister and hugged the belt to his chest.

This was good.

Lin Yi thought. She had already completed her own transformation, from an otaku to a beautiful girl.

As for the belt, it had a price, but a child’s dream was priceless.

After taking a shower that night, Lin Yi was brushing her teeth when her phone lit up.

It was Su Kui.

Su Kui: [Shared a video]

Su Kui: Thank you, Lin Yi.

In the video, Su Ji was wearing the loose belt, shouting the unpolished lines, transforming for Lin Yi to see.

When Yan Jianxing opened the door, she paused.

“Lin Yi, you look really happy.”

“Hehe, because I did a good deed.”
