“Phew.”
Lorevil had just sat up from the bed, and before she even saw her own naked body, her face was already flushed red.
Her body and the bedding were both damp, and even her lips felt a bit chapped.
She was a little thirsty.
Lorevil casually picked up the glass of water from the bedside table.
It was the same glass Mahina had poured for her yesterday afternoon when she welcomed her, with still a small half cup of warm water left.
Lorevil tilted her head back and drank it down in gulps.
Crystal-clear droplets slid from the corner of her mouth, tracing down her neck past her collarbone covered in red marks, leaving a streak of wetness that only added more allure.
“I’m so tired.”
After the ultimate pleasure came emptiness.
The only thing she found lacking was the completely passive position she had been in last night.
Lorevil wiped her moist red lips, stood up, and walked into the bathroom.
She turned on the hot water faucet. Warm water cascaded down with a splash, and the steamy mist quickly filled the entire bathroom.
Lorevil gently wiped her body with a towel, her gaze falling on the mirror.
The woman in the mirror was completely unclothed. Her slender fingers swept her silver hair behind her head, revealing a pure and stunning face after awakening, a moistened body, and with the stimulation from last night, she had quite a bit of a married woman’s charm.
Seeing herself like this, Lorevil couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt toward her wife.
She was damnable.
After finishing her quick wash, Lorevil returned to the bedside and found her clothes to put on.
Fortunately, the clothes were clean, without too much strange scent clinging to them.
As long as she acted naturally when she went back, she shouldn’t be discovered by her wife.
But Lorevil’s movements in the room woke Mahina, who was still deep in sleep. The soreness in her body gradually eased, and her consciousness slowly returned.
Mahina opened her eyes and saw Lorevil’s figure. A belated shyness welled up, and a flush spread across her cheeks.
“Yesterday… I…”
Mahina remembered yesterday very clearly.
But she didn’t have Lorevil’s perspective of seeing the darkening health bar, nor did she notice how dangerous her state had been at the time.
From Mahina’s point of view, she had simply broken down emotionally and couldn’t help relying on Lorevil.
Lorevil walked over, sat on the edge of the bed, and held Mahina to comfort her.
To be honest, although Lorevil had anticipated Mahina’s reaction after attending Mary’s funeral, and had even prepared for it—
After all, Mahina was a yandere girl, and Mary’s death could easily stimulate her.
—she didn’t think Mahina could suppress her strength as a third-rank vampire.
Not to mention the ability of blood threads; just the practical combat experience accumulated in the training exercises was enough for Lorevil to render several Mahinas incapacitated in a single exchange.
Lorevil let out a wry smile.
But she hadn’t expected that after Mahina entered her second stage yesterday, the terrifying pressure was even greater than Catherine’s guidance back then.
How was that possible?
And this was without even using Mahina’s exclusive weapon, the scissors.
Speaking of scissors, Lorevil stroked Mahina’s smooth back and hesitantly glanced at the top of Mahina’s head.
Perhaps thanks to the several hours of emotional release from yesterday to early this morning, Mahina’s darkening value had stabilized back to one-third of what it was before—a very safe zone.
This was different from what Lorevil had guessed.
Lorevil had originally thought that the darkening value would accumulate slowly like that of her wife Noxia or guardian Madam Sharon, only erupting when triggered.
And the danger level was relatively low, controllable through some clever soothing methods.
Previously, when Mahina caught her sneaking into the madam’s house in a nightmare and directly stabbed her, and when her wife stabbed her after discovering her cheating, Lorevil thought those were just isolated cases.
But yesterday, although it was the same type of situation, the trigger wasn’t Lorevil herself. It was simply that Mary’s experience resonated with Mahina’s own tragic past.
That was why Mahina hadn’t pulled out her exclusive weapon and stabbed her.
Lorevil returned her thoughts to reality, relieved herself, and spoke: “Mahina, let me see your scissors.”
Mahina was only slightly puzzled, tilted her head, and seeing Lorevil’s serious expression, she pulled out a pair of pitch-black scissors from under the pillow. They were seven inches long, slightly longer than craft scissors.
Under the pillow?
Last night, both she and Mahina had been sleeping on that pillow. What if the scissors were sharp and stabbed right through her?
A cold sweat broke out on Lorevil’s back.
Lorevil took the scissors. This was her first time truly observing this nightmare-inducing pair of scissors up close.
They felt icy cold in her hand, no different from ordinary scissors, yet they sent a chill through Lorevil’s entire body.
“These scissors are too dangerous… Mahina, can you throw them away?”
“But…”
Mahina’s expression shifted slightly, showing a hint of sadness. “These scissors are the only keepsake my parents left me. Even when I was at the workshop, I sewed them into my clothes to keep them close.”
Great, the buffs are stacked.
Lorevil handed the scissors back to Mahina with regret: “Since that’s the case, keep them. But don’t put them under the pillow anymore. It’s too dangerous. What if you hurt yourself?”
Mahina nodded and put the scissors away.
Strangely, in her hands, the sharp blades seemed to lose their chill, becoming more like ordinary scissors.
The scissors can discern who they’re dealing with?!
Lorevil was shocked, finding it almost unbelievable.
Did the scissors recognize its master, only docile toward Mahina, but hostile toward everyone else?
As Lorevil was thinking, she suddenly remembered something and reminded Mahina: “Mahina, once you’ve rested enough, get up. You just asked the shopkeeper for leave yesterday, so don’t be late first thing in the morning.”
“Ah, I forgot. Good thing you reminded me, Lorevil, or else Madame Audrey would have deducted my pay.”
Mahina stuck out her little tongue. It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought of it, but right now, being with Lorevil, she could even forgo today’s wages.
Mahina picked up her dress. It had quite a bit of water stains, which made her little face blush.
She didn’t know what had come over her yesterday, to do such shameful things to Lorevil.
She stole a glance at Lorevil’s swollen red lips, and steam seemed to rise from the top of her head.
So lewd.
“You can’t wear that dress. Give it to me.”
Seeing the flustered Mahina, Lorevil took the initiative.
“I’ll fetch a basin of water and soak it with soapberry. After I get the water, you go take a shower too and wash off the strange smell on you. Otherwise, if your coworkers smell it when you go to work, it won’t be good.”
Mahina’s face turned even redder, but she obediently handed her dress and underwear to Lorevil.
Lorevil quickly fetched a basin of clean water and put all the clothes stained with the maiden’s scent into the water. Mahina, holding a change of clothes she had found, went into the bathroom.
The sound of trickling water came from the bathroom, making Lorevil blush.
But she sat quietly by the bed, waiting for the girl to finish bathing.
In this state, she wasn’t very comfortable leaving Mahina alone at home.
There were many humans in this rundown apartment, and human hearts were treacherous.
Lorevil didn’t dare to gamble. What if, after she left, Mahina got hurt?
It wasn’t long before Mahina came out of the bath.
The freshly bathed girl in her bathrobe had lashes still damp with moisture, her clean face inexplicably tinged with a blush. When she saw Lorevil waiting, the joy in her eyes deepened.
Actually, Mahina hadn’t fully changed into her clothes. She had been eager to see the person she loved outside.
In the end, Mahina was still a newly adult girl.
A trace of affection inexplicably rose in Lorevil’s heart, even though she herself was only one year older than Mahina.
