After stepping through the door, Elia found that her surroundings had transformed into a massive circular arena, and the door behind her had vanished.
Standing in the center of the arena was… a humanoid creature radiating golden light from its entire body. Could it even be called a living being?
The creature slowly raised its hand and fired several beams of light. Elia responded by cutting out beams of her own, canceling out the attacks from this glowing thing.
“If what I read in books is correct, this glowing creature should be the Holy Light Body… a life form condensed from pure holy light, said to possess the most pristine Holy Light Power,” Lisa said in a low voice.
“So this is the final Trial of Light… interesting.” Elia licked her lips, staring excitedly at the Holy Light Body slowly approaching her.
“Leave it to me! You two stay back!”
Hearing this, Kiz wanted to say something and even reached out to tug Elia’s sleeve, but the impulsive little saintess had already charged forward.
Two streaks of light clashed together in the arena, each collision erupting with intense radiance that made the surrounding space tremble.
But… Elia realized that her Holy Light was completely ineffective against this damn Holy Light Body… was it because it was itself made of light?
So she could only rely on physical attacks. However, the Holy Light Body’s speed was anything but ordinary… causing her attacks to constantly miss.
But the Light Body’s counterattacks were very effective. Every strike landed precisely on her… Elia was knocked down again and again, but she kept getting back up.
“Elia!”
Seeing this, Kiz immediately wanted to rush forward to help.
Yet an invisible barrier blocked her path.
“That’s the rule of the Trial of Light: it can only be completed by one person,” Lisa gently patted Princess Kiz’s shoulder.
Elia panted heavily, staring at the Holy Light Body before her… It possessed powerful light force just like her, and the biggest difference was… it had infinite stamina, while she did not… So at this rate, she would definitely lose.
She had to find its weakness.
Hmm… The Holy Light Body was an incarnation of holy light, but it definitely had a physical form. Those condensed beams of light should be its physical form.
There was nothing else around… She had to take a gamble.
So if she could destroy those points where light condensed…
She stared intently at the Holy Light Body’s chest, and sure enough, there was an especially bright point of light… and that was obviously its core.
Wait, so every monster in this Trial Ground had a core? If destroying the core could kill the monster, then why was this place rumored to be inescapable? …No, why was she thinking about that?
Then she turned into a ray of light and shot toward the Holy Light Body.
Seeing this, the Holy Light Body immediately raised its hand and fired countless beams. Those beams pierced through her body, but she had already reached it.
She pressed her five fingers together, stabbed into the Light Body’s chest, and quickly found the hard, scorching core… Then she clenched her fist.
This caused the Holy Light Body’s form to rapidly disintegrate into countless tiny specks of light.
But just as Elia was about to go back and recharge some little princess energy from Kiz, a figure suddenly appeared in the center of the hall.
That figure… looked exactly like her! The same long golden hair, blue eyes, and white Lolita dress.
“Huh? Wait… you… me…” I actually look pretty good!
No, no! Why did this thing look exactly like her? Could this be the second phase of that Holy Light Body? Seriously?
Elia stared at the figure in utter confusion.
No, no. In this world, there could only be one Elia! Because there was only one Princess Kiz! She couldn’t accept being cuckolded by herself.
So Elia’s gaze turned ice cold.
At the same time, the impostor stared back with the same icy look.
The next second, both Elias attacked at once. Golden light illuminated the entire arena… and this battle was destined to be arduous.
Somewhere else, Lillian Lasombra sat hugging her knees under a big tree, her little toes slightly curled. Her two golden eyes stared quietly at the village in the distance.
In that village, children were playing, while the adults were busy with their hard labor… In short, everything looked ordinary.
She had been sitting here for an entire day.
Watching those children run around… laughing so happily.
She didn’t know what they were laughing at. What was so funny?
Then she lowered her head and looked at her hands.
These hands were very white and delicate, but they had just killed quite a few people.
She could no longer remember their faces. All she remembered was that before they fell, there was an emotion called “fear” in their eyes.
Fear… Were they afraid of her? Why? She just wanted to play with them… But once they died, they stopped moving.
Not fun. Really not fun… Those people broke too easily.
Thinking this, Lillian raised her head and continued watching the children.
Hmm… Should she go over and say hello? Would they be scared?
Just then, a child ran over and asked curiously, “Big sister, why are you sitting here all alone?”
Lillian stared straight at the child with her golden eyes, which could scare the life out of any villain. But the child’s face still held an innocent, carefree smile.
So she said softly, “I… am watching you play.”
“Then why don’t you come play with us?” the child asked again.
“I don’t want to.” Lillian shook her head.
The child tilted his head and continued, “Big sister, you don’t look happy at all.”
Hearing this, Lillian froze.
Unhappy? Was this what it meant to be unhappy? But right now, her heart was empty—nothing at all. How could she possibly be happy?
Also, she felt like a very important piece of a puzzle was missing from her heart, rendering her fundamentally incapable of being “happy.”
Yet she still said to the child, “I’m not unhappy.”
The child laughed and said, “Then let’s play together! It’s a lot of fun!”
Then he reached out his hand to take hers.
Lillian looked carefully at his extended hand, was silent for a few seconds, then finally stood up and nodded. “Okay, let’s go play.”
She wanted to find that missing piece… the piece that determined “happiness.”
Hearing this, the child happily pulled her toward the other children. When the children saw this beautiful big sister, they curiously surrounded her.
“Who is this?”
“A new big sister! She’s so pretty!”
“Big sister, big sister! Play with us!”
Looking at the innocent smiling faces of the children, Lillian felt that hollow feeling in her heart ease a little… Maybe this was happiness?
She didn’t know, but she was willing to try.
After some time, the village bell rang. Hearing this sound, the children scattered, each running home to their own families.
Only Lillian remained standing there, dazed, with nowhere to go.
She stood quietly for a moment, then turned and walked in another direction… She would leave this village.
It was fun here, but… it was ultimately not a place that belonged to her.
She still had to find more interesting things, and also find that person who was like her… She had said they would fight again next time.
So she would definitely go find her again in the near future.
For now, she would go explore somewhere else.
