Upon hearing Bai Lili’s words, Lilith’s eyes held an unreadable expression as she spoke.
“I don’t know either. I just feel like this place is very familiar.”
Seeing Lilith like this, Bai Lili didn’t feel she could ask further. The task for this round was to survive for three days. Bai Lili summoned the Xuan Dragon, and with a flash of light she successfully dazzled everyone in the audience, blinding them. After that, the screens in front of them went dark.
But Bai Lili had no knowledge of what was happening outside. She let the Xuan Dragon go out and explore. She had already checked in advance; this Hunting Zone wasn’t very high level—it wouldn’t pose a threat to the Xuan Dragon. Plus, with its habit of taking a picture and running away, even a fifth- or sixth-rank magical beast probably couldn’t catch it.
Once the Xuan Dragon received Bai Lili’s permission, it shot off at incredible speed. In no time, Bai Lili could no longer see its figure.
Bai Lili gazed at the towering trees around her. This competition did not allow fights between teams, but if someone discovered an opportunity or treasure, they would probably still come to blows.
Qing Hanyin, standing nearby, stroked her chin as if deep in thought. Su Ruo observed the surrounding environment. Lilith seemed distracted, as if she had something on her mind.
The contest required them to survive for three days, which meant they needed shelter, food, and water. Bai Lili looked at the crisscrossing paths before her and, as if guided by fate, chose one of them. As she walked, she had to admit that the environment and scenery here were truly beautiful. With three fourth-level psychics in the team, surviving three days here was a piece of cake.
The four of them—Bai Lili, Lilith, Su Ruo, and Qing Hanyin—walked through the ancient forest. The other three followed Bai Lili, watching her move with such familiarity that if they hadn’t known she had never been here before, they would have suspected this place was her home.
Along the way, they encountered almost no magical beasts. They did gather some edible mushrooms and magical beast meat, enough to feed them for the day.
After walking a little further, they spotted a cabin. The layout looked cozy. Bai Lili felt it was familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what seemed familiar.
Lilith, on the other hand, froze noticeably when she saw it, as if recalling something. Bai Lili naturally had no idea what Lilith was thinking, but from the layout, she found she really liked it.
Then the four entered the little cabin. It was clean and tidy, as if someone had specially cleaned it. The wooden house didn’t look very large, but it had everything it needed: a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a small living room.
It was a cozy arrangement, and the tabletop was clean. After the journey, Bai Lili was feeling a bit tired. Qing Hanyin went to the kitchen and discovered that the supplies were quite complete—everything was there, not at all like a house that had been uninhabited for a while.
But this was the Hunting Zone provided by the competition organizers, so they assumed it was deliberately placed here.
Su Ruo walked around the cabin. The wooden house wasn’t very big, and the interior decoration was practically arranged according to Bai Lili’s tastes. Su Ruo had investigated Bai Lili’s preferences before, and this place matched perfectly. It was hard not to suspect that Bai Lili had bribed the officials to give them special treatment.
Bai Lili found the bedroom and discovered that there were even ready-made quilts and such. It was very comfortable. If she were to live in seclusion here, Bai Lili wouldn’t mind at all—after all, it had everything, well-stocked.
Also, Bai Lili remembered that when they entered the cabin, she saw a stream in the distance. The issues of water, shelter, and food were all solved. What a lucky day.
She threw herself onto the bed, kicking her legs sheathed in white stockings back and forth, her golden tail wagging. Then a thought occurred to her: there was only one bedroom, but there were four of them. Bai Lili looked at the big bed. It would be spacious for two, but a bit cramped for four.
Bai Lili decided she needed to sleep on the floor, otherwise she couldn’t guarantee what the other three might do. Just as she was about to look for an extra blanket, she noticed the bedside table in the bedroom. It was small, but still a bedside table.
Unable to resist her curiosity, Bai Lili opened the drawer. Inside was only a crystal. Not knowing what it was for, she put it back.
Then she did find a blanket. She spread it on the floor. After that, all that remained was to spend the three days here peacefully.
Bai Lili lay on the blanket, lost in thought. Just then, Lilith also entered the bedroom and asked in a somewhat forbidding tone,
“Lili, did you see a blue crystal this big here?”
She gestured with her hands. Bai Lili nodded and pointed to the bedside table.
“There, it’s in that drawer.”
Lilith quickly took out the crystal and put it into her pocket.
Before Bai Lili could ask why Lilith had taken the crystal or how she even knew there was one here, she felt very puzzled. And judging by Lilith’s behavior, it seemed this place had some effect on her.
‘Could it be that Lilith is the reincarnation of some great being, and this place holds her memory fragments that just happened to awaken?’ Bai Lili couldn’t help but shake with laughter at her own thought.
Even though she herself found this place familiar, it was only that—familiar. She had basically been following her instincts here, and finding this cabin was beyond her expectations.
After about a short while, Bai Lili could smell the aroma of the dishes Qing Hanyin was cooking. Her appetite stirred, she walked out of the bedroom to the small dining table. The table could seat four, but they’d have to squeeze a little.
The four gathered around the small table, eating the soup made from the magical beast meat and mushrooms they had gathered. Su Ruo had discovered a vegetable patch nearby and picked some wild greens to add variety to the soup—after all, a soup couldn’t just be all mushrooms and meat.
Bai Lili ate the vegetables from her bowl, feeling that today had gone unusually smoothly. They hadn’t run into any other teams, and they were even living comfortably. ‘Indeed, luck is on our side,’ she thought to herself.
