Another line appeared.
“How did you get here again?”
That was easy to answer.
Lorevil replied, “I died.”
Based on previous information, Lorevil deduced that both the death of a Vampire and advancing to the third tier triggered entry into this blood-colored world.
Last time it was advancement, this time it was death—two completely different trigger conditions.
That said, dying was far too unexpected, but there was no helping it.
She had mentally prepared for Mahina’s dark turn, but she never expected Noxia to suddenly show up.
A moment of carelessness had cost her dearly—like how someone who often walks by the river is bound to get their shoes wet.
Lorevil shrugged, somewhat accepting the fact.
She hated this feeling of powerlessness.
“What a pity you haven’t died yet.”
The Red-Dressed Girl flicked her finger lightly.
The blood-colored lake beneath her feet suddenly surged like boiling magma, instantly engulfing Lorevil’s body.
An intense suffocation hit her, and her vision blurred as she lost consciousness again.
Back to reality.
Lorevil found herself still standing in front of the door, in the same posture of about to open it.
Just as she thought, the rewind rule only allowed her to jump back within a short time interval before death—she couldn’t rewind to an earlier point.
If she didn’t change the situation, when Noxia arrived, she would still be stabbed through the heart and repeat the same death.
The next second, stabbed to death again, Lorevil found herself back in the blood-colored world.
Lorevil gritted her teeth in frustration and closed her eyes again.
“Splash!”
Inside the realm, a clear shock flickered in the Red-Dressed Girl’s eyes behind her red ribbon.
How many years had it been? She had never seen a Vampire enter the blood-colored world three times, and with such short intervals between each visit.
They stared at each other, the red ribbon still untied from the girl’s exquisite face.
“Did you die again that quickly?”
The Red-Dressed Girl wrote with energy in the mist, a hint of disbelief in her words.
Lorevil had no choice.
Fortunately, her bloodline energy had refilled after the rewind, so she could still manipulate energy to respond.
“Yes.”
In just a few minutes, dying twice—this experience was simply horrible.
“Go back!”
In an instant, the girl submerged Lorevil in the lake water, then stood there dazed, as if pondering life.
Lorevil died three times and saw the Red-Dressed Girl three times.
The last time, the furious Red-Dressed Girl even stomped her hard with her jade-like foot, kicking her into the surging Blood Lake.
Only then did she rewind to the moment when she returned from the priest’s residence and arrived in front of Mahina’s shabby apartment.
Lorevil dared not delay.
She quickly sent a message to her wife: “Noxia, don’t prepare dinner for me. I won’t be coming back tonight. I need to stay out and handle some urgent matters.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you to come back tomorrow morning and make you breakfast.”
Noxia’s message came, and the communication blood crystal vibrated once.
Lorevil’s fingers moved slightly, soothing her disappointed wife:
“Thanks, honey. I’ll take you on a date this weekend.”
Seeing Noxia’s reply, Lorevil’s anxious heart finally settled.
Her wife’s emotions were calmed, so she probably wouldn’t go looking for her out of worry anymore.
“Mhm, I’ll train hard.”
There was one more important thing: How did her wife know about Mahina’s shabby apartment?
Lorevil’s mind raced.
She quickly thought of the coachman on the carriage.
Yesterday, he had waited too long, so he returned to the mansion.
Her anxious wife found him to ask, and after learning the address out of concern for her safety, she came wielding a kitchen knife and stabbed her to death.
Once she figured that out, Lorevil greeted the coachman waiting by the roadside and told him to go back first.
If the lady asked, just say that Lord Lorevil was too busy handling affairs and slept in the rented building.
The coachman naturally agreed immediately.
With the coachman “liability” resolved, Lorevil finally had no more worries.
Lorevil took Mahina’s hand and went upstairs, entered the room, and closed the door behind her.
Though she knew that a fight with Mahina was inevitable.
But this time, Mahina had to be the one underneath.
Lorevil staked her pride as a man—she couldn’t stay on the defensive any longer.
The next morning.
When she woke up, Lorevil felt a splitting headache.
Dying too many times, even with rewinding, took a toll on her spirit, leaving her somewhat disoriented.
If this kept up with infinite deaths, Lorevil might end up a wreck—neither human nor ghost.
But the Blood Lake’s water solved that problem.
Every time she returned to the blood-colored world, the lake seemed to cleanse her soul.
Though brief, it made her spirit tougher, counteracting the negative effects of multiple deaths.
Without that cleansing, just three rewinds and deaths would have risked mental trauma for Lorevil.
Then, in the struggle for dominance with Mahina, Lorevil also vented a lot of the negative effects caused by the deaths.
Suppression, fear, anger—all released in the ultimate interaction.
Looking at it that way, though this experience was dangerous, it wasn’t entirely without benefit. Pros and cons.
Lorevil rubbed her throbbing temples.
The quilt slipped off, revealing her smooth back.
Last night, instead of resisting, she had taken the initiative to control the rhythm, so there were no bite marks on her lips, and no kiss marks from Mahina on her beautiful collarbone.
But her body was drenched in sweat, having consumed a lot of water and energy.
Lorevil gently patted Mahina’s round shoulder to wake her:
“Time to get up. If we’re late, we’ll be late.”
Mahina let out a soft moan, waking from her dream, her eyes shimmering with watery light.
Seeing Lorevil, her pretty face immediately flushed red.
The lingering afterglow of last night hadn’t fully faded yet.
They walked into the bathroom side by side.
After a quick wash, Lorevil took out spare clean clothes and handed them to her.
“I’ll drop you off on my way. Don’t work too hard at the café today. If Madame Audrey gives you a hard time, contact me.”
After saying that, Lorevil led the still-shy Mahina out of the apartment and into the carriage that had been waiting by the roadside.
Arriving at the café entrance, watching Mahina’s back as she ran inside with a red face, Lorevil leaned against the carriage and let out a long sigh.
This was an unexpected situation Lorevil hadn’t foreseen, and it was the most dangerous time in managing the relationship between her wife and Mahina.
On one side was an emotionally extreme wife who would kill with a kitchen knife.
On the other side was a yandere girl with an unstable darkening value who carried a deadly pair of scissors.
One misstep and it would be utter ruin.
Even now, recalling the searing pain of being pierced through the heart by Noxia’s kitchen knife, Lorevil still felt a physiological urge to vomit.
And this was just her wife Noxia discovering she hadn’t come home, giving her a quick end.
If one day, Mahina found out that everything Lorevil said was a lie.
Even discovered that there was a little wife at home, and she herself was just a despicable mistress.
Combined with the trauma from Mary’s death, Mahina would most likely use that pitch-black pair of scissors to slowly dissect her.
Then, the rewind ability would only become an even more painful torment for Lorevil.
