Inside the Dragon Race Imperial Palace of the Dragon Kingdom.
A 2,500-year-old Dragon Race girl, standing 1.8 meters tall with her hair tied in a ponytail and dressed in a maid outfit, was carefully sweeping the first floor of the palace.
A cold, aloof aura emanated from her.
In this massive palace, there were usually only two people present. One was the Dragon Queen, Zhu Xiaxia Gracia, and the other was the all-purpose maid she had hired, Xiaguang.
Xiaguang was responsible for sweeping, mopping, dusting the furniture, cleaning the restrooms, tidying every room on the first floor, doing the laundry, washing the windows, maintaining the floors, and tending to the palace roof.
Beyond that, she also handled the cooking, provided emotional support for Zhu Xiaxia, managed work documents, and even went on business trips on the Queen’s behalf.
Xiaguang was a Tier 7 Ice Dragon who excelled at Ice Magic.
With her strength, cleaning was a task she could finish in an instant with a couple of spells; there was absolutely no need to do it manually.
However, to show Zhu Xiaxia how useful she was, Xiaguang chose not to use magic—except for special circumstances.
For instance, Zhu Xiaxia forbade anyone from entering the second floor, so Xiaguang had to use magic to clean it.
Even though her workload was immense and she was solely responsible for the entire palace, she enjoyed it.
She found true pleasure in her work.
Soon, she would have a new task added to her list: helping Zhu Xiaxia raise a child.
At that moment, Zhu Xiaxia was in her room on the second floor, lying on her bed and cradling a Dragon Egg.
Only a few minutes remained before Zhu Qiu Gracia would hatch.
She had to witness her daughter’s birth with her own eyes.
“Daughter, you are about to become a true member of the Dragon Race. That previous sense of weakness will vanish completely. I believe you will become a great dragon. Moreover, I will make you abandon your resolve to turn back into a human.”
“Xiaguang.”
Zhu Xiaxia used Magic Communication to contact Xiaguang, who was currently slacking off while sweeping downstairs.
“Your Majesty, I am here.”
“You… you should have milk, right?”
What was wrong with the Queen? Why would she ask such a bizarre question?
“Your Majesty, I… I don’t quite understand what you mean.”
Xiaguang knew that disobeying an order was a grave mistake, but… if your boss suddenly asked if you had milk, what would you think?
“I mean it literally. I see that you’re quite well-endowed in that area, far better than I am. My daughter is about to be born, and I want her to have a warm meal.”
Wait, what?
A daughter? Did the Queen actually lay an egg?
But how could a single female dragon lay an egg on her own?
And…
Xiaguang stopped her work and looked down at herself.
Well.
Zhu Xiaxia wasn’t wrong. Compared to the Queen, her own chest was like a grapefruit compared to an orange—there was no competition.
It was no wonder she asked such a question.
However, the Queen seemed to have forgotten that dragons didn’t actually produce milk.
The milk sold on the market came from mammals like cows or goats.
“Your Majesty, I am of the Dragon Race. I cannot produce milk. Therefore, I cannot do that,” Xiaguang said honestly.
Having worked in the palace for so many years, she understood Zhu Xiaxia’s mental state perfectly.
Sometimes the Queen was crazy, sometimes she was serious, and sometimes—like today—she asked nonsensical questions.
“Oh, I forgot. Then go prepare a bottle using milk powder. Be as quick as possible, then bring it to my room.”
Her room?
“But Your Majesty, didn’t you forbid anyone from going to the second floor? Even when I clean up there, I only dare to stand on the first floor and use magic.”
“Did I say that? Don’t worry about anything else, just bring it up.”
“Understood, Your Majesty.”
Xiaguang was speechless.
She added another trait to her mental profile of Zhu Xiaxia: forgetfulness.
Xiaguang rushed to the kitchen, prepared the milk, went upstairs, and knocked on the door.
“Your Majesty, here is the milk you requested.”
“Open the door and come in.”
As soon as the door opened, Xiaguang’s gaze was drawn to the Dragon Egg on Zhu Xiaxia’s bed.
However, this egg was quite unique; it was much smaller than a typical Dragon Egg.
‘Is this… Zhu Xiaxia’s daughter?’
It was hard to believe.
Xiaguang was so focused on the egg that she forgot to hand over the bottle.
“Just leave it on the table.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
After setting it down, Xiaguang quickly closed the door and left.
It didn’t matter.
It was just a daughter.
It wouldn’t affect her monthly salary of 100 Gold Coins.
She just needed to do her job and avoid overthinking things.
2 minutes after Xiaguang left, Zhu Xiaxia placed the Dragon Egg on top of her.
At that moment, a rustling sound came from inside the egg.
Suddenly, the shell cracked, and a small head poked out, looking at the world in a daze.
‘Where is this? Oh, right!’
A second later, the little girl kicked the shell aside and jumped up to stand on Zhu Xiaxia.
With her hands on her hips, she let out an excited shout.
“I, the Human Sword Saint Soran, have returned!”
However, she froze when she heard her own soft, high-pitched voice.
‘Eh? Didn’t I turn back into a human? Why do I still sound like this?’
Soran instinctively looked behind her.
That familiar dragon tail was still there.
What?!
Wasn’t she supposed to have changed back?!
Why was she still a little Dragon Race girl!
Soran scanned the room but couldn’t find Zhu Xiaxia.
“Evil Dragon! Come out! You said I’d change back! Explain yourself this instant!”
The little girl jumped and stomped in anger, jumping and stomping over and over again.
‘Wait, why is this bed soft yet firm?’
‘I don’t care! Even if I break it, I’m not paying you back!’
“Ya! Ya! Ya!”
“Daughter… you’re being a bit naughty~”
Zhu Xiaxia had been too indulgent; it took several stomps before she finally spoke up.
Hearing Zhu Xiaxia’s voice, Soran looked around again but still couldn’t see her.
“Come out already! Don’t hide from me! Are you scared?!”
Even after saying that, Soran showed no intention of stopping.
She kept stomping.
“My treasure, guess where I am?”
It was the Evil Dragon’s voice again.
Soran was confused and paused for a moment.
Why did the voice sound so close, yet she couldn’t see her?
Could it be…
The Evil Dragon was using Invisibility Magic to watch her from the shadows?
“Aaaah! O(>﹏<)O! Get out here right now! Tell me why I haven’t turned back into a human! Come out! If you don’t, I’ll stomp your bed to pieces!”
“Ya! Ya! Ya!”
She started again.
“My dear daughter, Mother has been here all along. If you keep making a scene like this, Mother is going to get angry.”
Zhu Xiaxia wasn’t lying, but from Soran’s perspective, she hadn’t looked down yet, so she hadn’t noticed her mother.
“Liar! How come I don’t see you? Liar dragon! Liar dragon!”
“I am the Dragon Queen. Why would I lie to you?”
“Liar, liar!”
“Then why don’t you look at what’s beneath you?”
