“Lady Saintess! Lady Saintess, and the Secret Sister are back!”
The sound of wheels slowly rolled over the mossy cobblestones of the residential area.
As usual, the children enthusiastically gathered around, chatter filling the air as they pulled at the two of them.
The children did not seem to notice that their Lady Saintess’s eyes had turned a deeper shade of pink.
Perhaps in their innocent world, they simply assumed the Saintess was using magic…
“Oh, right! Today, Sister Luna suddenly said that all those bad guys ran away with their tails between their legs! And they dumped all the stolen silver coins onto the counter with a loud clatter!”
As the little girl spoke, she exaggeratedly stretched out her hands to mimic the “clatter” of the coins.
Children truly were far too naive.
Dumping the coins like that was likely because the thugs, though defeated and indignant, had no other choice.
They used that method to flaunt a sense of superiority even in failure.
It was just like throwing coins on the ground for others to pick up.
Even though they had been ordered to retreat by the person behind the scenes, that group of hooligans didn’t seem to want to leave quietly.
“Then where is Sister Luna now?”
Idledra gently patted the girl’s head.
She seemed to notice that the sensation was different than usual; the girl froze for a moment but remained standing obediently.
“Sister Luna is still busy at the bakery. She said she’s going to make a lot of delicious bread to thank the Lady Saintess!”
“Is that so? Then next time I’ll bring the Secret Sister to the shop, and we’ll definitely eat a lot of things.”
Thinking about it, someone as smart as Miss Luna couldn’t possibly fail to guess the real reason why the once overbearing thugs had left.
Everyone simply chose not to say it out loud.
The little girl smiled and placed a small flower in Hailey’s hand, then gently touched her Eye Patch as if praying for her before laughing and running away.
After saying goodbye to the children, the two of them slowly returned to the mansion where they lived.
Holding the wildflower, Hailey still felt a bit incredulous.
It felt as though they had merely gone out for a stroll, yet Idledra had handled everything.
It was as if she were meeting this Lady Saintess for the first day all over again.
“Put me down… I really can walk.”
Setting the wheelchair steadily in the courtyard, Hailey lowered her head.
She had already anticipated the treatment she was about to receive — which was the polar opposite of how things usually went —
Idledra slowly picked her up from the wheelchair.
Although Hailey tried her best to push those hands away, she had been drained of her Mana and could only helplessly let herself be handled.
“Well, if Hailey insists…”
Idledra gently uncovered her Eye Patch, then carefully set her down as if she were holding a glass vase.
Hailey was confident; she was a Magic Doll, a high-quality product… no, no, an advanced robot?
Whatever, it didn’t matter.
In any case, she couldn’t possibly be that easily…
*Plop.*
Hailey collapsed onto the smooth floor.
Her two weak legs refused to obey her, drooping uselessly as she could only manage to wiggle them slightly.
This story was a legend of a broken wing going from negative to zero…
Regardless, amidst Idledra’s mischievous smirk, Hailey reluctantly opened her arms toward the other girl.
“Ho… hold me.”
“Oh? My head feels a bit dizzy. I don’t think I heard you…”
Idledra feigned innocence, looking at the slumped Hailey with a naive smile.
However, her twitching hands betrayed the little Demon in her heart.
Hailey looked at the smirking girl, her dignity warring with her current frustration.
But a great man born between heaven and earth, how could he…
“Hold… pick me up.”
“As you command.”
Satisfied, Idledra finally reached out tenderly to welcome the blushing girl into her embrace.
She held her close, walking slowly and taking her time.
‘Fine, let’s just say my luck is bad this time. Once my Mana recovers and we go out next time, I’ll definitely make her beg me like this…’
Hailey thought. Wait, why were they going further?
Usually, when they went out, Idledra would just leave her in the living room.
Where was she taking her this time?
This wasn’t the way to the dining room!
“Da-da-da-da, da-da…”
Idledra hummed a tune, appearing to have long since memorized this path.
Her eyes were clear as water, shimmering with a bright pink hue.
‘Hurry up and let me go! This is the opposite direction of the dining room! Why are you getting closer to the bed? Hey! When you said “eating dinner” earlier, what exactly were you referring to?!’
Even after being placed on the bed, Hailey tried to use her legs — which lacked the Saint’s Blessing — to flee this terrifying “dining table,” only to be firmly caught by a pair of hands.
“Be good, Hailey. Don’t be afraid. It’ll be over soon.”
With a cool sensation, Hailey felt as if something had entwined itself around her body.
Opening her eyes, she saw her fingers interlaced with Idledra’s.
Strangely, through their joined hands, Hailey felt a warm current flow through her body.
Her Mana was actually being returned to her by Idledra in this manner.
Though it wasn’t all back yet, it was enough for her to stand up.
However, Idledra seemed to have something she wanted to say and did not leave.
“Now then, before we prepare for dinner, is there anything my little Hailey wants to ask?”
Whenever Hailey had something hidden in her heart, those sparkling little eyes of hers would become distracted when looking at me.
‘What a delicious little doll…’
“The events of today… did you know everything?”
From “incidentally” passing by Miss Luna’s bakery at the start, to casually visiting the church, and even “coincidentally” running into the mastermind, Julian.
Moreover, after only a slight threat to Julian, he had immediately scurried off to scold his men into leaving.
If she described all that as a coincidence, she would be too stupid.
Idledra’s grip on her hand tightened noticeably for a moment before she relaxed.
A look of internal conflict and helplessness drifted through those pink eyes.
“Um… I know some things, but I don’t want Hailey to know them yet. I… I’m sorry.”
‘Hmm… this is the first time I’ve seen the Lady Saintess look so dejected.’
Even though she was apologizing, Hailey didn’t feel happy at all.
What was going on?
Clearly, she was keeping secrets from me, but…
“You… ugh… forget it. I won’t force a girl to say things she doesn’t want to. I’m going to prepare dinner.”
Seemingly finding understanding, Idledra hugged Hailey with the joy of a child who had been forgiven by an adult and gave her a quick *mwah* on the tip of her ear.
“I knew Hailey was the best! I’ll prepare dinner tonight. Let me serve you, okay?”
“Who wants you to serve… Besides, do you even know how to cook?”
