Chapter 8: Lady Sephine and the Little Sister!

Just as dawn broke, the Demon King opened her eyes.

She tucked in Sephine, who was sleeping soundly beside her, before dressing herself and leaving the Inner Palace.

Last night, Sephine seemed to have gone a bit too far.

Her repeated demands hadn’t made the Demon King tired; instead, Sephine had exhausted herself and was still currently lost in a beautiful dream.

‘New day, new work. I need to pull myself together.’

The documents and files would be delivered on time.

There were no major issues to discuss today, so naturally, there were no scheduled meetings.

The Demon King’s subjects were all working hard for the sake of her kingdom.

“Lord Demon King,” the first official arrived for an audience.

“Speak.”

“I believe Lady Sephine’s reforms for the Magic Academy are too radical. This is by no means the best way to solve the problem. We should… slow down a bit,” the minister named Aspha Koda said bluntly.

“Why do you say that?”

“Lord Demon King, the Magic Academy has always been a key facility under the control of the core members of the Old Nobles. It is their lifeblood, and they will not let go easily. If Lady Sephine forces her interference, things will backfire and certainly offend many people.”

“We killed the previous Demon King; do we still need to fear them?”

“The Lord Demon King misunderstands. An open spear is easy to dodge, but an arrow in the dark is hard to defend against. Those lunatics will do anything for power.”

“I understand. I will consider making improvements.”

“Can you draft a better proposal?”

“I will do my absolute best!”

“Go then.”

“Yes, My Lord!”

Aspha Koda departed.

Although the Demon King might not necessarily read the new proposal he provided, she still had him prepare another copy because Sephine would certainly want to see it.

“Lord Demon King!”

It was Astrid.

“Enter.”

“Lord Demon King, I have discovered that the recent expenditures of the construction department are abnormal. These are the costs I have tallied for all facilities and buildings completed this year…”

The Demon King glanced at the report.

It was indeed very suspicious.

“By my calculations, we spent an average of… 2,000 gold coins just to repair a single street.”

The Demon King remembered that building this palace had only cost 5,000 gold coins.

Those newly repaired streets clearly shouldn’t have cost that much.

“Investigate!”

“Yes, My Lord.”

Astrid withdrew.

One thing followed another, a never-ending cycle of problems to solve.

She didn’t know how Sephine used to handle these things in the past.

Meanwhile, Lady Sephine was currently lying in bed, enjoying a long-overdue sleep-in.

‘Sister should still be here… Today, I must definitely convince her to cast that Sephine aside!’

The Demon King’s little sister stood before the Inner Palace, determinedly preparing to voice her advice once again.

The Demon King’s sister was five years younger than her, named Lifaria El Sephalu.

The Demon King’s full name was Denif Weer Sephalu.

El could never understand what was so good about that stinking human.

She was weak! Weak! And still weak! So frail that a single push would…

Their family didn’t need a person like that as a wife.

The children born in the future would become weak!

Their family had no need for the weak.

El stood with her hands on her hips, already immersed in her own fantasies.

“Is that you, little sister? Come in quickly; it’s cold outside.”

Sephine pushed the door open while wearing her pajamas.

She had been hearing a buzzing sound outside for a while now.

“Who are you?”

“I’m your sister’s wife.”

El was stunned.

She only knew that her sister had turned Sephine into a girl, but she hadn’t been told that Seilin had turned into… this kind of girl.

She seemed to be a head shorter than her, right?

“Where is my sister?”

“She went to work. Is something the matter?”

It had been quite a long time since Sephine had seen the Demon King’s sister.

El didn’t live in the Imperial Palace; their father was elderly and needed someone to look after him.

The Demon King didn’t want outsiders doing it, and El was more than happy to care for their father, so she naturally took on the responsibility.

“This early?!”

“The work of a Demon King is very exhausting. Come inside first; it’s cold out.”

“Hmph, do you think we of the Demon Race are as afraid of the cold as you humans? Let me tell you… *achoo!*”

“Look at that, you’ve caught a cold. Come in, quickly.”

The little sister obediently walked into the Inner Palace.

This was the third time she had been to her sister’s chambers.

The bed seemed to have gotten a little larger.

“Wrap yourself in this. It’ll be warmer.”

“When will Sister be back?”

“It won’t be until tonight. Is it anything urgent? I can take you to find her.”

“No, I’ll just wait for her here.”

All the words she had prepared to disparage her sister-in-law were swallowed back down.

Some things simply couldn’t be said to the person’s face.

Even though this sister-in-law seemed relatively easy to talk to… or was she?

El glanced at Sephine again.

Her sister-in-law was actually quite pretty…

El also accidentally glanced at the bed, which still bore a few damp patches.

Lifaria El Sephalu’s face suddenly flushed bright red.

She hadn’t expected her sister to work so hard for the sake of continuing the bloodline.

The battle had been far too intense.

Looking more closely at the white-haired girl in pajamas before her, Lifaria noticed that there seemed to be lingering pink spots on Sephine’s neck.

‘Didn’t Sister say she was already pregnant… why are they still…’

Lifaria had heard that desire seemed to grow stronger after becoming pregnant.

But with this kind of size… can they really do it?

Maybe she could hide here tonight and watch the battle…

No, no!

What was she thinking?!

“Ahem… you, Sister’s wife.”

“Just call me Sephine.”

“Sephine, I don’t believe you are suited to be the Empress.”

“You’re right.”

“Then why do you still cling to Sister? I will help her find a more suitable candidate! You should just honestly go back to being a subject and handle your official business!”

“Okay, okay. Then I’ll be going.”

Sephine left the Inner Palace while still in her pajamas, leaving Lifaria El Sephalu standing there dazed and alone.

‘Did I win? Oh yeah! Oh yeah!’

The little sister finally reacted and began to celebrate her victory.

Meanwhile, Sephine had grabbed some exam papers and was preparing to go to her desk to grade them.

She needed to see if the questions had actually been tampered with or if she really had become stupid.

‘Could pregnancy really affect a person’s intelligence?’

Although she had somehow ended up pregnant with this child, it was still her own flesh and blood after all.

Sephine really wanted to give birth to it.

She just didn’t know who the child would look like.

‘The Demon King’s genes should be quite strong, right? I hope she doesn’t grow up to be like Vi — always so improper.’

Lady Sephine returned to her workstation still wearing her pajamas.

Her colleagues only spared her a glance and said nothing more.

“Astrid! Come here for a second!”

“What is it, Lady Sephine?”

“This question isn’t right. Who changed it for me?”

“May I take a look?”

Astrid took the two exam papers and felt his vision go dark.

The Demon King finally found some time to rest and thought about returning to the Inner Palace to snuggle with her wife.

But when she opened the door, she found her troublesome little sister sitting on the bed.

“Sister! That Sephine agreed to a divorce!”

The Demon King fainted.
