“By the way, Miss Receptionist, if I’m wearing the uniform and touch my husband directly, does the effect that lowers my presence still work?”
Watching the three walk away, Ailin suddenly remembered this important detail.
Activating the one-time [Involuntarily] skill only guaranteed she could make physical contact with her husband.
It didn’t guarantee she could complete the objective of the difficult commission… touching him while the other two were also in contact.
Ailin’s idea was simple.
Since the difficult commission and the simple one were being done together and the goals were similar… she could use the same method she used for the simple commission to get the third person in contact with her husband.
If she was caught then, so be it.
She could switch out of the uniform in an instant anyway.
“It does. However, as previously mentioned regarding the risks, there is no guarantee that a powerhouse like Master Faon won’t notice your movements. I just explained how the reduction of presence works. It makes you blend into the environment as much as possible. I thought someone as gifted as you would have understood that by now,” the receptionist said slowly.
“I don’t want this kind of… gift.”
Ailin was quite dissatisfied with the receptionist’s last comment.
However, after thinking about it, it made sense.
If the environment suddenly moved, it would be hard for anyone not to notice.
Faon and the others were not walking slowly.
Their excitement made Night Night forget the inconvenience of her elaborate outfit.
Fortunately, there weren’t many people where they were headed.
The lack of crowds reduced the chance of any accidents occurring.
Under Night Lei’s guidance, the three soon arrived at the center of Xingbo Town.
While this area couldn’t compare to the market, there were many shops along this street due to its proximity to the Adventurers Guild.
Most of them, however, only sold daily necessities and adventure supplies.
“Sister Night Lei, you seem very familiar with this place. Have you been here many times?”
Faon asked curiously as they walked.
Based on how easily she led the way, it didn’t seem like she had only been here two or three times.
“You give me too much credit, Brother Ang. I wouldn’t say I’m familiar with it. I just always come here to buy daily necessities. Most of the shops here are run by former adventurers, so they don’t ask too many questions when we show up alone with our hoods on.”
Night Lei smiled.
“I don’t come often, so when I do, I try my best to remember the route to avoid any issues.”
Faon fell silent.
It was a necessary precaution, but it also showed how meticulous she was.
Night Lei’s image became even more mysterious in his mind.
It also reminded him of how his wife, Sister Falin, used to act tough while taking care of him after his parents died.
Seeing Faon fall silent, Night Lei paused.
For some reason, her tone became a bit cautious.
“Brother Ang… what’s wrong?”
Faon shook his head.
“It’s nothing. I was just thinking that if you and Miss Night Night want to come out in the future, you can ask me to use [Disguise Magic]. It would save you a lot of trouble. You want to come out more too, right, Miss Night Night?”
The sisters worked hard, lived diligently, and never harmed anyone.
Since they often looked after his wife, Faon felt he could offer some help within his capabilities, regardless of whatever secrets they might have.
It would only require a small amount of magic power.
Of course, he would ask for his wife’s opinion once he got back.
He was also debating whether he should bring up that specific matter with Night Lei.
“Yes… being able to go out with my sister and help Master Faon… that’s wonderful.”
Night Night nodded with a smile.
“Haha… that would be too much trouble for you, Brother Ang. It’s fine. Night Night has experience going out now, so she can come with me.”
Night Lei’s tone returned to normal.
She shook her head with a chuckle and moved past the subject.
Night Night asked with some concern, “Sister… did you always come to town by yourself before?”
“Is Night Night worried about her big sister? How wonderful… my little Night Night has finally grown up.”
Night Lei feigned surprise.
“Sister! I’m asking you a serious question.”
Night Night spoke huffily.
“Alright, alright, I know you care about me.”
Night Lei smiled.
“Sometimes I do, and sometimes I come out with Miss Eve and the other nuns from the Church. It’s just that a group of people with hoods would look strange, so we usually shop separately and meet up later.”
“Is… is that so?”
Night Night was stunned.
She had assumed her sister went with everyone from the Order, but she hadn’t realized it was like this.
‘I’ll come out to buy things in the future… especially if I can be with Master Faon.’
“Miss Eve? She comes out too?”
Faon was surprised.
He couldn’t imagine Eve out shopping by herself, though a half-elf’s situation was likely better than that of a half-demon.
“I feel like you look down on Miss Eve, Brother Ang.”
Night Lei let out a fake sigh.
“I’m just joking. Miss Eve is actually very efficient, even if she can be a bit slow-witted at times. Oh… here we are. Shall we head in?”
Night Lei stopped and looked at the sign for the Xingbo Women’s Clothing Store.
‘No wonder she asked me those extra questions that day,’ Faon thought, realizing the connection.
“Sure. But regardless, just tell me whenever you and Miss Night Night want to go out. You’re always telling me I’m too polite, but you’re being quite polite yourself, Sister Night Lei.”
“Alright… hehe. It seems the list of things I need to do to repay you is growing.”
Night Lei smiled, resting a hand against her cheek.
Night Night made a silent note of it as well.
The three entered together.
Ailin, who had been overhearing their conversation, fell silent.
Like her husband, she was a kind person.
She could feel how hard the sisters worked and how diligently they lived.
But she couldn’t exactly let them “use” her husband as much as they wanted, could she?
Therefore, Ailin decided that her future methods for commissions should be as gentle as possible.
Once everything was settled, she would find a way to compensate them.
That was the generosity of a proper wife.
After finishing her thoughts, Ailin followed them inside.
Some shops had bells on the doors, making it easy to be noticed.
Immediately upon entering, a female clerk approached them.
“Welcome. You two young ladies have very rare hair colors.”
“Is… is something wrong?”
Night Night asked tentatively.
“Not at all. I just think your hair is beautiful,” the clerk said with a sigh of admiration.
Night Lei didn’t say much, only offering a smile.
“Do you sell women’s underwear here?”
“We do. Please follow me… but, what is this gentleman’s business here?” the clerk asked, looking at Faon curiously.
None of the three looked like ordinary people, which prompted her question.
Just as Faon was about to explain they were together or suggest he wait outside while Night Lei took the measurements, Night Night’s face flushed red.
She clearly wasn’t good at lying, yet she blurted out, “W-w-w… we are a married couple! This is my sister!”
She nearly bit her tongue.
After speaking, she shifted closer to Faon as if to prove her point.
A strange sensation welled up in Faon’s heart.
He could only imagine that if he didn’t go along with it now, they might be kicked out as suspicious individuals.
He gave the clerk a friendly smile.
Night Lei only nodded with a smile, acknowledging the claim, but she didn’t show the complex emotions churning within her.
‘Night Night… what exactly are you trying to do?’
Fortunately, the clerk didn’t press the issue, assuming it was just the shyness of a newlywed couple.
She laughed.
“Understood. That’s perfectly fine. Please follow me.”
Faon still felt odd, but seeing that Night Lei wasn’t surprised, he began to suspect… had his wife been telling them things like this earlier this morning?
Keeping a careful distance, Ailin felt a bit disappointed.
Though she hated to admit it… she had said those things this morning specifically for a moment like this, but Night Night hadn’t actually touched him.
It seemed she would have to rely on herself.
However, the reduction of presence from her uniform was truly effective.
They hadn’t noticed her at all.
Night Night walked beside Faon.
Being so close to him made her heart race and her mind turn to mush.
She couldn’t say a word.
She had spoken in the heat of the moment, perhaps out of panic or the excitement of her first time out.
She had simply thought of what Sister Falin had said earlier.
She gazed blankly at Faon.
Except… Master Faon didn’t deny it immediately, did he?
