“Goodbye, Lady Saifalin!”
“Goodbye.”
Arona pulled Liyana into the academy, and the matter between the two of them came to an end.
Saifalin had already completely handed the academy reform over to Asde.
Asde was Saifalin’s most trusted subordinate; she would not feel at ease letting anyone else handle it.
“Where are you going now, my lady wife?”
While Saifalin was thinking, the Demon King secretly pinched the soft flesh at Saifalin’s waist again.
Saifalin was wearing a two-piece outfit: a pink-and-white knitted vest on top and a light-colored short skirt on the bottom.
If Vielle wanted to slip her hand inside Saifalin’s clothes, there was only one way in.
Doing this at the academy gate was obviously improper, but the Demon King clearly did not care about other people’s opinions.
Using Saifalin’s thin-skinned weakness to experience her cutest reactions was totally worth it.
But it was obvious that the Demon King had gone a bit too far and was not taking Lady Saifalin seriously enough.
Even a rabbit will bite when cornered.
“Go buy some ingredients. I’ll go home and cook lunch.”
Even though Saifalin had lived in this world for twenty-two years, she still was not used to the food here.
During wars and marches, Saifalin was almost always the one in charge of cooking.
Even if it did not taste especially good, it was still better than gnawing on black bread with raw vegetables.
“You’re trying to run again.”
Vielle’s hand was still on Saifalin’s waist, ready at any moment to make her regret it.
“I’m just going home to eat lunch. Baby, don’t be so sensitive. I still have a lot of materials at home.”
“I already had them move everything over.”
What Vielle meant were the materials Saifalin had left at home.
Furniture did not need to be moved—there was plenty of furniture in the palace.
Most of the furniture in Saifalin’s home was old and unremarkable, just familiar to use.
Saifalin liked the agarwood scent that wooden furniture accumulated over the years.
“You’re not allowed to go back.”
“Let’s go. Back to the palace.”
“Really not going back? If it’s just once, it wouldn’t be impossible.”
Saifalin actually gave in immediately, which felt a bit off.
The Demon King still wanted to tease her a bit more and see how cute she looked when angry.
“I’m not going back. I’m going to the palace. Nowhere else.”
The atmosphere became strange.
Along the way, Saifalin stayed extremely restrained and did not say a single word.
The Demon King followed behind her, trying to start conversations, but Saifalin brushed them off with perfunctory replies.
This was bad.
Saifalin really seemed angry.
Not the kind of pouty anger from before, but anger in the true sense.
And this was completely self-inflicted.
If only she had not been so arrogant earlier.
Vielle only wanted to try more ways of interacting.
As the dominant one, she got carried away and made her wife explode.
This was fatal.
It was also the Demon King’s first time being married.
Her selfishness had overridden Saifalin’s feelings, and now the situation seemed almost beyond repair.
‘Should she apologize to Saifalin?’
The Demon King secretly glanced at the silent Saifalin again.
“Alright.”
This was not a multiple-choice question.
“Um… wife, what I did just now was too much. I shouldn’t have…”
“Mm-hmm, you did nothing wrong, baby.”
“What?”
“The Demon King is the ruler of a nation. If you want to change the queen, you can do it anytime. Why waste your energy on just me?”
Ah, Saifalin had started being sarcastic.
This was the first stage of her anger.
The Demon King knew Saifalin very well.
She had written an entire notebook filled with Saifalin’s habits.
“Don’t say that. That was all my fault just now. I just wanted to tell them that my lady wife is the one I love most.”
“Then you might as well go to those taverns. There are lots of people you love most there.”
“Cough.”
The Demon King choked.
Saifalin had entered the second stage now.
Her words were sharp, and anything could come out of her mouth.
“I’m sorry. I’ll help you buy groceries, okay? Let’s go to your little house and cook for ourselves.”
“Sure, but I need to buy some matches.”
“What do you need those for?”
“I’m not good at fire magic. Without matches, how am I supposed to burn the house down?”
The Demon King stopped.
Things seemed far too bad now.
Saifalin had entered the third stage.
The Demon King named this extremely dangerous stage: “Rampage Stage.”
She could say anything dangerous, though she would not fully act on it, because Saifalin still had some rationality left to restrain herself.
But the probability of her burning down her own house was not zero.
There was also an unexpected factor affecting the situation—Saifalin was pregnant, and her emotions were extremely sensitive.
The Demon King grabbed Saifalin’s shoulders and forcibly stopped her.
Saifalin suddenly turned around, and two clear tear tracks were already on her face.
“If all you need is a tool to satisfy your desires, I can help you find one. I can live in my little house by myself just fine… I really thought you loved me. You liar!”
“You might as well turn someone else into this mess I am now!”
“Wife, stop crying…”
“I’m not crying! Awooo!”
Saifalin opened her mouth and bit down hard on the back of the Demon King’s hand.
Originally, Saifalin had planned some unconventional revenge schemes, but along the way, the more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.
She tried her best but still could not hold it in anymore.
Tears streamed down her face as she kept walking forward.
To avoid revealing that she was crying the whole time, Saifalin chose to reply to Vielle’s questions using only interjections.
“I’ll bite you to death!”
Saifalin refused to let go, and Vielle let her keep biting until she had vented enough and was willing to release on her own.
This was not a deserted area.
After walking for a while, they had already reached a bustling district.
Passersby stared at the strange behavior of the two girls with puzzled looks.
“You’re just bullying me because I can’t go back to my parents’ home!”
This was Saifalin’s most fragile spot.
When others are hurt, they have somewhere to confide in.
When they suffer setbacks, they can go to their parents.
But Saifalin did not have that.
Long ago, she could only rely on herself.
All pain and hardship had to be hidden in her heart alone.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong! Hit me if you want! I won’t dodge!”
The Demon King was not a person with delicate emotions.
Although she often lectured her younger sister for speaking without thinking, it was obvious that she herself had the same problem.
Vielle did not know how to handle relationships.
With overwhelming power, she was used to acting straightforwardly.
With supreme authority, she had no one she needed to worry about.
She only wanted to use her clumsy actions to express love to the person she cherished most, to show off to others that she had finally obtained the love of the one she loved most—even if she was merely imitating the behavior in serious novels.
“This is too embarrassing here! Hurry and go back!”
Saifalin pulled Vielle and hurried toward her house in the royal city.
Too many people had already gathered, drawn by their commotion.
Two of the loneliest people could only rely on each other to find a bit of comfort.
Therefore, neither of them would let go of the other’s hand.
