In the blink of an eye, Qiaolin was brought into Gabriela’s study by the woman herself.
Whenever her daily affairs were relatively simple and leisurely, she would work here while enjoying pastries and tea.
“Hey, why did you pull me in here all of a sudden? Fafna doesn’t know where your study is,” Qiaolin said with a wry smile, looking at Gabriela’s triumphant, scheming grin.
“It doesn’t matter. With her perception as a Saint-level Powerhouse, she’ll find her way here eventually,” Gabriela chuckled.
Then, as if catching a scent, she leaned closer to Qiaolin, sniffing around his waist.
“What is that? It smells so good~”
“I brought you some breakfast.”
Qiaolin pulled a small bundle from his pocket.
Inside, several sandwiches were wrapped in clean greaseproof paper.
Gabriela’s eyes lit up with surprise and joy.
“Hehe, how did you know I hadn’t eaten breakfast?”
“Even if you had, you would still be craving more, wouldn’t you?”
“Hmph…”
Seeing Qiaolin teasing her with a smile, Gabriela snatched the sandwiches from his hand and stuffed one into her mouth.
“In consideration of the food you brought, I’ll let your mockery slide this time.”
“Then I am truly honored.”
Seeing Gabriela eating his food with such gusto, Qiaolin couldn’t help but feel a touch of emotion.
‘She’s the only one who can actually eat the dishes I cook normally.’
Just as Gabriela was enjoying her meal and Qiaolin was feeling pleased that someone could actually eat his cooking, the study door was kicked open!
*Bang!*
“Gabriela, I finally found you!”
The black-haired dragon loli’s face was flushed with anger.
She felt like Gabriela had played her for a fool in front of Qiaolin once again!
“Oh? Perfect timing. Now we can talk business,” Gabriela said, wiping the crumbs from the corner of her mouth with a smile.
Fafna gritted her teeth.
Under the persuasion of her other soul, she ultimately chose to endure it.
“Pampas, guard the door.”
“Yes!”
Fafna gave the order to Pampas curtly, and he immediately deployed a red soundproof barrier.
Gabriela also sensed that something was wrong.
It seemed Fafna really had come to discuss something important, so her expression became more serious.
Seeing this, Qiaolin found a chair in the corner and sat down.
He watched as the two women confronted each other across the desk for a few seconds.
Fafna spoke slowly.
“The legendary Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent is about to return to the surface.”
As soon as those words were spoken, both Qiaolin and Gabriela revealed looks of astonishment.
The two shared a glance, and then Gabriela asked, “The Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent? Wasn’t it sealed by the Demon God Emperor thousands of years ago? Has the seal failed?”
Fafna nodded and said, “Yes. The seal located at Mount Black Flame is about to dissipate. That old man was also involved in the operation to seal the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent back then. You could say the Dragon Race and the Demon Race worked together to deal with it.”
“I’m not very clear on that. The records of the Demon Race’s history don’t mention it. I only know the sealing site is at Mount Black Flame, which is the territory of the Flame Demon Clan.”
“It is also the territory of the Red Dragon Clan. The place where the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent was sealed happens to be at the border of the two clans’ territories, so…”
“Another collaboration?”
Fafna nodded silently, but Gabriela was filled with worry.
Aside from being known as a legendary existence that even a Saint-level Powerhouse could not kill, the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent was only known to the world for its venom.
However, that was merely the tip of its power — as insignificant as a drop of sweat.
“What’s wrong? You look worried. Are you afraid of something? In the past crusade against the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent, our two races reached an agreement to overcome the difficulties together. But in reality, the Demon Race contributed the most. That magic which sealed it for thousands of years was performed by the Demon God Emperor alone.”
Fafna smiled and continued, “As the child of the Demon God Emperor, you should be able to use that kind of sealing magic, too. The Dragon Race will assist from the sidelines and provide all the help you need.”
Gabriela’s face showed a look of hesitation.
“If we wait for that Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent to break the seal, it will likely result in another massacre of living beings. Even if God acts, he won’t be able to resurrect those who are killed.”
“Are you trying to persuade me?”
Gabriela’s brow darkened as she spoke.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Leaving aside whether I’ve even heard of that so-called sealing magic, I’m not even a Saint-level Powerhouse right now. You should know that after the Holy War 300 years ago, many of the Demon Race’s powerhouses fell and their magic was lost. We have been recuperating ever since. We are powerless to resist the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent. So, I suggest that if you’re looking for a partner, go to the Holy Hero Church. Let them contact Odin to handle it.”
Gabriela’s statement was clearly beyond Fafna’s expectations, and even Qiaolin couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows in surprise.
She knew Fafna must be aware of the Demon Race’s current strength.
What use was she, a mere King-level Peak, against a Level 10 Magic Beast that even Saint-level Powerhouses couldn’t handle?
No matter how powerful a spell was, it all depended on who the user was.
“Fafna, we aren’t strangers. Let’s be blunt,” Gabriela said.
“How do you want the Demon Race to cooperate?”
“Tsk…”
Fafna pouted.
“I wanted to mess with you a bit longer.”
“Indeed, we don’t need the Demon Race to take action this time. You just need to order the Flame Demon Clan living on Mount Black Flame to allow the Dragon Race to enter. That way, we can use that weapon.”
“Weapon?”
Gabriela blinked in confusion. She had never heard of any weapon capable of killing the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent.
“That’s right. You might not have heard of it…”
Fafna looked at Qiaolin and said, “But Qiaolin definitely knows it. The weapon capable of easily slaying dragon-kind: Gram the Dragon Slayer Holy Sword.”
Dragon Slaying Holy Sword, Gram. When this name reached Qiaolin’s ears, certain memories immediately surfaced in his mind.
After a moment, the man spoke slowly.
“It was forged by Odin as a precaution against the Dragon Race. It’s a weapon specifically designed for dragons, capable of cutting through dragon elemental magic and tearing through scales and flesh. Furthermore, it can simultaneously unleash magic of four attributes: fire, earth, water, and wind.”
“After the Black Dragon Emperor clearly stated on behalf of the Dragon Race that they would not disrupt the world’s balance, Odin entrusted the weapon to the Dragon Race. It was a sign of mutual trust between the two parties.”
After hearing Qiaolin’s explanation, Gaborina asked with some confusion, “Giving such a powerful weapon to the Dragon Race instead… wouldn’t that mean they don’t have to worry about that weakness anymore?”
“Because this Holy Sword can only be used by the purest of humans, and a human body simply cannot withstand the burden brought by the Holy Sword. Even those at the King Rank cannot control it for long. That is why Odin felt safe leaving Gram with the Dragon Race,” Fafna explained.
“However, Qiaolin can use it. Because he is the genuine Celestial Hero, the Eldest Son of God. Whether it is the Dragon Slaying Holy Sword or the Supreme Holy Sword, they can both be used by him.”
“As long as we use Gram after the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent breaks the seal, we should be able to kill it easily. After all, it also possesses the bloodline of the Dragon Race.”
With that, the gazes of both Fafna and Gabriela fell upon Qiaolin.
The man sighed.
“I know you retired long ago, Qiaolin. Although the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent is powerful, now that it has this weakness, it’s not some terrifying existence anymore. That old coot sent me out for two reasons: first, he wants the Demon Race to provide entry permits; and second, he wants me to find you, saying that you’re needed to wield that Holy Sword.”
Fafna spoke to Qiaolin.
“It sounds simple enough. I — “
Before Qiaolin could finish, Fafna shook her head.
“Qiaolin, actually, both I and she (White Fafna) don’t want you to get mixed up in this mess. This was originally a matter between the Demon Race and the Dragon Race. Even if it isn’t handled well, at most we just lose the region of Mount Black Flame.”
Hearing this, Qiaolin was momentarily stunned, then he smiled helplessly.
“I haven’t agreed yet, Fafna. No matter what you want me to do, at least let me consider it before I give you an answer.”
“Eh?”
The man’s answer was unexpected.
While Fafna was dazed, Qiaolin spoke again.
“I promised Gabriela that I would stay with the Demon Race for a while. Why don’t you stay with me for a bit too? After all, it will still be a few months before the Nine-Headed Black Venom Dragon-Serpent is unsealed.”
