“Mhm.”
Carmilla nodded shyly, following Yuriko into the bedroom.
As soon as they stepped inside, Carmilla noticed the pink wallpaper, and then the plush dolls on the bed.
“Such a cute room. It really suits you, Ruri~”
Yuriko remained noncommittal on the surface regarding Carmilla’s praise, but in her heart, she disagreed completely.
‘How does this pink style suit me at all? This is all your fault for buying random things, Phantom.’
‘I asked for your opinion back then, and you didn’t refuse.’
‘But I didn’t agree either!’
‘You’re being unreasonable.’
‘I’m a mobster. Isn’t being unreasonable only natural?’
“This giant bear is also very cute. Do you like adorable plushies like this, Ruri?”
The large bear doll on the bed was the most eye-catching thing in the entire room; it was hard not to notice it.
“Yeah, I suppose I like them well enough.”
Even though Phantom had bought it, she could hardly say that her family cat had purchased it online, could she?
“I don’t have any dolls at home, but I could make one myself and give it to you as a gift, Ruri.”
“You know how to do needlework?”
“I learned a bit from my mother when I was little, but I haven’t done it in a long time. If it’s a smaller doll, it shouldn’t be a problem.”
“That’s amazing! Once you finish it, I’ll keep it right by my bedside!”
Carmilla smiled softly, already thinking about what kind of doll she should make.
Yuriko sat on the bed, intending to chat with Carmilla for a while, when her phone started ringing.
Picking it up, she saw the caller was Lao Si.
‘This guy… didn’t I tell him not to disturb me today?’
Yuriko frowned but answered the call anyway.
As soon as the call connected, Lao Si’s voice came through, mixed with a burst of background noise.
“Big Sister, things are bad! The Flying Wheel Gang from the west is here to cause trouble. They brought a massive crowd of people, and we can’t hold them back — shit, who threw that bottle!”
Cursing and shouting followed from the other side.
The noise was so chaotic that Yuriko couldn’t clearly hear what was happening.
The Flying Wheel Gang was a large gang from the West District with hundreds of members.
The few people in Yuriko’s gang wouldn’t be able to stop them on their own.
‘They couldn’t have picked a worse time. They’re trying to ruin my good time, aren’t they!’
A surge of anger flared in Yuriko’s chest.
If Carmilla hadn’t been there, she would have started swearing right then and there.
Hanging up the phone, Yuriko stood and said to Carmilla, “I just remembered we’re out of snacks. I’m going to run to the supermarket to get some. Just wait here, Carmilla. Don’t be formal, make yourself at home.”
Without waiting for Carmilla’s response, she dropped Phantom onto the floor.
‘Phantom, keep an eye on Carmilla. Don’t let her wander off.’
‘Wait, me?’
‘Yes.’
Phantom looked at her own feline body.
How was a cat supposed to watch over a grown human?
Yuriko rushed out, leaving Phantom and Carmilla to stare at each other, one person and one cat.
“Hello there, Phantom?”
“Meow~”
—
In a corner not far from Yuriko’s house.
A crowd from the Flying Wheel Gang was currently in a standoff with the Bone Crusher Gang.
However, the Flying Wheel Gang had far more people, and since Yuriko wasn’t there, they were exceptionally arrogant.
They acted as if they were prepared for a fight to the death today.
“Heh, I heard the leader of your Bone Crusher Gang got locked up. I didn’t believe it at first, but after waiting over half a month without seeing a trace of her, it seems she really is rotting in prison. Without that woman, you pieces of trash in the Bone Crusher Gang still think you can hold onto such a large territory in the North District? You’d better just hand over the turf and join our Flying Wheel Gang. We might even let you live.”
The leader of the Flying Wheel Gang’s group was a blond man with a pompadour, wearing a black motorcycle jacket.
He leaned against his flashy motorcycle, speaking to the Bone Crusher Gang members in a disdainful tone.
“Who told you our Big Sister went to prison? Things have just been tight lately, so we haven’t been active. I’ve already called for backup. Once Big Sister arrives, it’ll be too late for you people to run!”
Lao Si countered, showing no sign of weakness.
“Then call the Shatter-Bone Princess out here! I’m telling you, I brought over 100 brothers today. Even if your boss is a great fighter, do you think she can take on this many people?”
“Heh, if you’ve got the guts, then wait. My Big Sister will be here any second!”
“I think you’re just bluffing. Heh — ‘ptui’! Brothers, stop wasting words with them. There are only a few of them; we can stomp them to death with one kick each. Get them!”
At the leader’s command, over 100 people surged toward the few members of the Bone Crusher Gang, tangling with them in a brawl.
The combat strength of the Bone Crusher members wasn’t low; they could knock down ordinary enemies with two or three punches.
Unfortunately, the enemy simply had too many people.
After throwing only a few punches, they were surrounded, their limbs pinned down as they were forced to take a beating.
“That’s all you’ve got? Without that woman, you’re nothing but a pack of stray dogs,” the Flying Wheel leader said, shaking his jacket as he mocked Lao Si, who was being pressed into the ground.
“Spit! If you’ve got the guts, fight me one-on-one! I could beat you like a grandson with one hand tied behind my back!”
Lao Si spat on the leader’s pant leg.
Seeing the saliva on his pants, the Flying Wheel leader grew furious and kicked Lao Si in the face.
“Screw you! Look at what a mess you are. You don’t even look the part anymore, dressed like some damn model youth. You think you’re worthy of fighting me?”
Lao Si’s head jerked to the side as he spat out a mouthful of bloody phlegm, but the ferocity in his eyes didn’t diminish in the slightest.
“You’d better kill me right now. In a few minutes, I want to see if you can still stand!”
Looking at Lao Si’s undiminished hostility, the Flying Wheel leader began to feel a bit of doubt.
He’s still talking tough even like this?
Is this guy just that stubborn, or did the Shatter-Bone Princess really not go to jail?
While he was hesitating, a lackey standing beside the leader suddenly had his head snap to the side before he was sent flying.
“What’s going on?”
The Flying Wheel leader turned to check on his subordinate, only to see half a brick flying from the distance.
It slammed into another lackey, making his eyes roll back as he fainted on the spot.
‘An ambush! From where?!’
The leader looked toward the direction the brick had come from.
Before he could spot the attacker, one of his own men wearing the gang’s vest came flying through the air, crashing right into him.
The Flying Wheel leader and several lackeys were knocked to the ground together.
As they scrambled to their feet, shaking their heads, a pink silhouette leaped down from above, stepping squarely onto the leader’s face.
Yuriko, wearing the Ogre Mask, looked down at the Flying Wheel leader from her height, her tone cold and menacing.
“While I was away, you stray dogs were quite bold, weren’t you?”
It really was her.
The Shatter-Bone Princess was still here.
She hadn’t been taken away!
