The morning of the first day off always carried a hint of laziness.
That feeling made even Faon, who usually woke up on time, linger in bed with his wife for a while.
The two of them shared a tender moment, nestling together until past 9:00 AM before finally getting up.
Afterward, they ate breakfast at a leisurely pace, the meal accompanied by playful banter and lighthearted teasing.
After finishing breakfast, they chose not to clean the room immediately since they weren’t leaving until three days from now.
Instead, they sat casually on the living room sofa to read together.
Two cups of a drink meant to ease menstrual discomfort sat before them.
Though called a drink, it was actually a recipe; it was the only one of the Medicinal Recipes Faon kept as a private stash, reserved specifically for his wife.
In an era where most forms of entertainment were only available to the Nobles, Faon felt that living a simple, peaceful life with his wife was the most fulfilling experience.
Evalyn felt the same way.
She loved the sense of security she felt by her husband’s side and the warm moments that security brought.
Although she loved collecting his various expressions and longed to see sides of him she had never witnessed before, it didn’t mean she would ever grow tired of the ones she already knew.
On the contrary, those familiar sides gained a different, special flavor as time passed.
Simply put, Evalyn loved everything about Faon and would never grow weary of him.
Thinking of this, Evalyn closed her book and leaned against her husband’s shoulder as he read seriously, a happy smile gracing her lips.
“Sister Falin, what’s wrong? Are you tired?”
Faon asked with a smile, sensing his wife’s head on his shoulder.
Although he still had a Commission to worry about, that was a matter for the future.
“Hmph, in my husband’s eyes, is his wife really that weak? Can’t his legal wife enjoy herself after being busy for the past few days?”
Evalyn spoke in a flirtatious, blaming tone.
“I just feel so happy to be able to stay with you like this.”
“I also feel very happy being with you like this, Sister Falin.”
Faon closed his book as well, the corners of his mouth turning upward.
“Sister Lin, I can spend the entire day with you today. We can do anything.”
But then, his tone shifted to one of slight apology as he continued, “However…”
“You don’t think I’ll be unsatisfied like this, do you? Or do you think I’m just being sensible? Or perhaps… you feel it’s difficult because we aren’t spending the whole day being as intimate as we were on our previous days off?”
Evalyn spoke with a giggle.
“Of course, it’s not the first two. I think being like this with you is very comfortable.”
“Then do you think that’s the reason I’m asking?”
Seeing Evalyn’s response, Faon felt a bit more relaxed.
He smiled and said, “Besides, I recall that on our days off, you only exercise your rights as a wife once?”
“Hmph! I’ll exercise my rights as a wife more often from now on!”
Evalyn let out a light huff and chose to change the subject.
“Speaking of which… when we first became a couple, Ailin would always joke with me around this time, telling me not to spoil you too much.”
“That’s true. I remember Ailin would also tell me that Sister Falin was way too good to me, and that she would never treat me that way if it were her,” Faon replied with a smile as he reminisced.
“Eh… so Ailin actually said that to you? I really don’t remember that very well.”
Evalyn didn’t mind it at all.
She rubbed her chin and said, “That certainly sounds like something that little girl Ailin would say.”
“True. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. At the very least, she has her own thoughts and is very serious. And when I came back from adventuring, you really did spoil me a bit, Sister Falin.”
Faon shook his head to himself and smiled. He truly didn’t think much of it; being serious wasn’t a bad trait.
“I never felt that way,” Evalyn hummed.
She shifted the conversation, not dwelling on the topic further.
“However, the content isn’t that important. I’m just curious why the relationship between you and Ailin suddenly became so distant. Did some conflict happen behind my back? Were you afraid I’d worry, so you didn’t tell me?”
“How could I hide anything from you? Besides, if something had happened, wouldn’t you have noticed long ago?” Faon teased.
“Not necessarily. I’m not as sharp as you think,” Evalyn said with a smile, seemingly implying something.
Faon grew silent.
He was clearly thinking about the discussion he had with Night Lei a few days ago.
“Still… I don’t think there was any conflict either, which is why I’m so curious about what’s going on between you and Ailin.”
Evalyn shook her head and continued, “I still think it’s for the reasons I mentioned before.”
“Who knows,” Evalyn said with a laugh.
“Anyway, when Ailin comes back, I’m going to have a good talk with her.”
Seeing his wife so enthusiastic, Faon didn’t say anything and just smiled.
Since they had opened up to each other, the two continued to chat until lunch, enjoying their exclusive time together.
After lunch, Evalyn wasn’t in a hurry to clean Ailin’s room.
Seeing that there was nothing else to do, she proposed painting a portrait of Faon.
The main reason was simply that there was nothing else to do; if they went out today, Faon’s plan for a date with the Night sisters would fall through.
Secondly, Evalyn was extremely serious about her “collection” regarding her husband, so she needed to sharpen her skills from time to time.
Faon didn’t object and agreed with a smile.
These were his wife’s hobbies, so of course he would do his best to cooperate.
He certainly wouldn’t say something like just using a Magic Camera to take a photo.
The two were in total agreement and got to work immediately.
Under Faon’s arrangement, the living room soon looked like an art studio.
Sitting in a chair, Faon quietly let Evalyn pose him however she wanted, which gave Evalyn a new sensation.
“You can just stay in this posture. I feel like this pose is very good.”
After finishing the adjustments, Evalyn sat before the easel and spoke with a giggle, a blush of excitement on her face.
“As long as you feel it’s good, Sister Falin,” Faon said with a smile.
The two then fell silent.
The only sounds in the room were the brush-brush of the paintbrush dipped in pigment against the easel and the occasional sound of his wife leaning out to observe him.
This feeling was quite novel to Faon.
Before coming to the Continent, he didn’t like keeping records.
He only began to enjoy it because of his wife’s habits.
Thinking of this, a faint smile appeared on his face.
“That expression is very good, Husband,” Evalyn said, seizing the moment.
A quiet and simple sweetness spread between the two.
However, this feeling didn’t last long before it was interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Who is it? Could it be Miss Eve coming to talk about your work? Or perhaps Miss Veya?”
Evalyn asked curiously.
“I’ll go check first.”
Faon laughed as he spoke.
He sensed a bit of unease from his wife, likely because she felt he had too many female friends around him.
“Alright,” Evalyn said with a giggle.
With his wife’s permission, Faon walked toward the door.
Upon opening it, he found Night Night, who had learned to dress just like Night Lei, waiting quietly at the entrance.
“Good afternoon, Miss Night Night. Why have you come so suddenly? Is there something wrong?”
Startled by Faon’s sudden opening of the door, Night Night reflexively took a step back.
Perhaps feeling it was rude or embarrassing, she took a step forward again when she saw Faon, her face turning slightly red.
“What is it? No need to be nervous, Miss Night Night. Aren’t we partners?” Faon offered a gentle smile.
“…Partners. Right, Mister Faon and I are partners.”
Night Night seemed to realize something and muttered quietly to herself before saying, “Good afternoon, Mister Faon.”
She took a deep breath, her face flushed as she gathered her courage to speak.
“I… I came here regarding what’s happening three days from now. In order to prevent Miss Ailin from seeing through the act… I… I’ve come to learn about Sister Evalyn’s daily behavior!”
