Chapter 44: Why All the Kissing, Meow?

“Is this really okay?”

Phyllis murmured as she examined the new bat decoration on the Mirror Magic Tool.

“It’s enough to deceive the detection of your Sacred Ground…”

The bat decoration shimmered, conveying Carola’s voice.

Phyllis naturally believed Carola’s words.

After all, it was Carola who had snatched her away from the Sacred Ground in the first place!

The bat decoration was, in fact, Carola.

Upon learning that Phyllis would be going to the Catkin Sacred Ground the next day to continue her training, Carola had thought for a moment and came up with a way to stay by her side.

Under Phyllis’s shocked gaze, Carola’s body began to change.

She continuously shrank and changed shape until she eventually turned into a tiny bat decoration.

Carola’s voice came from the bat decoration.

Phyllis took out the Mirror Magic Tool that Carola had given her.

The bat decoration flickered its wings and flew onto the Mirror Magic Tool.

Then, it fixed itself onto the tool, remaining motionless as if it were a real ornament.

“Alright, let’s go,” Carola urged.

“I know, I know.”

Phyllis tucked the Mirror Magic Tool away.

Then, under the cover of night, she used Stealth to bypass the village guards and sneaked back into her small cabin.

“That was close! I was almost spotted by the guards, meow~”

Phyllis felt a vibration in her coat.

She took out the Mirror Magic Tool.

The bat decoration on the mirror trembled slightly, and a wisp of blood-colored mist drifted out, condensing into a human form inside Phyllis’s cabin.

Carola reappeared before Phyllis, still possessing that petite and beautiful appearance, though a hint of a smile played at the corners of her mouth.

“You… why did you change back?” Phyllis took half a step back.

“Didn’t we agree you’d stay disguised as a decoration, meow?”

“It’s late at night, and your cabin is so secluded, so I came out!”

Carola took a step forward, her red eyes gleaming faintly in the dim light.

“Besides… it’s not enough.”

“W-what’s not enough?”

Phyllis felt her heart rate accelerating.

‘She wouldn’t want to kiss me a few more times, would she?’

“The blood I supplemented isn’t enough to maintain my state.”

Carola drew even closer, almost pressing herself against Phyllis.

Phyllis’s eyes widened, and her tail froze in mid-air.

Carola wrapped her arm around Phyllis’s waist, pulling her closer.

Her hands instinctively pressed against Carola’s chest, but she couldn’t muster any strength.

Her attempt to push Carola away only made the posture more ambiguous.

The kiss gradually deepened. Carola’s kiss left Phyllis dizzy.

It was so lingering, yet so full of possessiveness.

Just when Phyllis felt like she was about to suffocate, Carola pulled back slightly, though their foreheads remained pressed together.

“Silly girl, breathe.”

Carola’s voice was low, but it carried a hint of amusement.

“Haa —”

Only then did Phyllis realize she had been holding her breath.

She hurriedly gasped for air, her face burning hot.

She had forgotten to breathe because of a kiss again.

Phyllis was so kissed out that she couldn’t even speak coherently.

Carola’s fingers gently brushed against Phyllis’s flushed cheek.

Phyllis muttered, but she couldn’t help licking her lips, which still carried Carola’s scent.

This action caused the color of Carola’s eyes to deepen.

This time, her kiss bypassed Phyllis’s head and landed on her cat ears.

“Wrong,” Carola said, her teeth gently nipping the tip of Phyllis’s ear.

Phyllis shuddered, her mind going blank.

Being treated this way by Carola made Phyllis feel a strange mix of shame and pleasure.

Phyllis squeezed out the title in a voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz.

“Good girl.”

Carola smiled with satisfaction, moving down to begin kissing Phyllis’s neck.

“Didn’t you just say you didn’t have enough blood?”

Phyllis suddenly remembered this and asked with whatever shred of logic she had left.

Carola’s movements paused, and then she let out a low chuckle.

“I lied to you~ I just wanted to kiss you.”

“You!”

Phyllis glared at Carola huffily, but Carola saw that there was no real anger in those blue cat eyes — only shyness and a hint of expectation that Phyllis herself hadn’t noticed.

Looking at Phyllis like this, the red in Carola’s eyes grew even more intense.

She kissed Phyllis’s lips again.

This time, it was even more gentle and lingering than before, as if she were savoring some rare delicacy.

Phyllis gradually relaxed and began to try and respond to the kiss.

Her hands were no longer pressed against Carola’s chest; instead, she hesitantly wrapped them around Carola’s neck.

The night wind blew gently outside the cabin, and the faint sound of insects could be heard in the distance.

Inside the room, there was only the sound of soft kissing and the occasional, muffled gasp.

After a long time, Carola finally let go of Phyllis.

“Haa —”

Phyllis was out of breath.

She felt her lips were slightly swollen, and a layer of mist covered her blue eyes.

“That’s… that’s enough, meow…”

Phyllis protested softly, yet she still leaned into Carola’s embrace without pulling away.

“It’s not enough!” Carola’s finger gently traced the outline of Phyllis’s lips.

“It will never be enough! Every part of you belongs to me, Phyllis.”

This kind of obsessive declaration made Phyllis’s heart race, but she found that she didn’t hate the feeling.

“How strange!”

“T-then we should wait until tomorrow!” Phyllis tried to make her voice sound firmer.

“I have to go to the Sacred Ground for training tomorrow. I need to save my energy, meow~”

Carola raised an eyebrow at Phyllis but eventually compromised.

“Fine. I’ll stay with you the whole time.”

“As a decoration?”

Phyllis blinked.

“In whatever form allows me to stay by your side!”

Carola picked Phyllis up in a bridal carry and walked toward the simple wooden bed.

“Eh? Wait, the bed is very small, meow!”

Phyllis cried out in surprise.

“We’ll just squeeze in!”

Carola said it as if it were the most natural thing in the world, lying down on the narrow wooden bed while holding Phyllis.

“Goodnight, Phyllis.”

Carola placed a kiss on Phyllis’s hair.

“Goodnight, meow…” Phyllis responded softly, gradually closing her eyes.

The night passed in silence.
