“Are you keeping something from me?” Tif demanded of Teanya.
It would have been fine if she did not think too deeply, but upon reflection, she felt certain Teanya knew something.
She was already frustrated enough that Lyr had not returned home the night before. Just as she managed to suppress her temper, Teanya had stirred it back up again.
This time, without waiting for Teanya to answer, Tif stared her down. “Think before you answer. If I find out that you—”
Teanya gave an awkward laugh.
She had forgotten that Tif had always been sharp when it came to these things.
Just as Teanya considered whether or not to tell the truth, the bell rang, and the entire classroom suddenly fell into silence.
Outside, Lyr had been there for a while, but he had not been in a hurry to go inside.
Hearing that the room had become quiet, he tilted his head and looked at the ceiling.
The Royal Academy was indeed the Royal Academy. The students were mostly Noble Scions from various families, so their discipline and breeding went without saying.
With Luoduan not there to lead the way this time, he was on his own, which put a fair amount of pressure on him.
Taking a deep breath, Lyr carried a stack of textbooks and walked inside.
Thinking about it, he was likely the first teacher to carry so many textbooks to class.
For him, it was always better to bring more in case he did not know what else to talk about.
He already felt awkward enough about becoming a teacher at the academy for no reason, and he did not want to make it any more embarrassing.
Arriving at the podium again, Lyr tried his best to maintain a smile.
Unlike Tif, it was not his habit to keep a straight face regardless of the occasion.
It was just consistent with his easygoing nature.
He feigned a cough and said, “Now that class has started, let’s begin.”
He knew this opening was incredibly dull, but he did not have any other way to go about it at the moment.
Seeing Lyr, Tif’s mood was neither good nor bad.
At least he had not returned home because nothing bad had happened, but what was the meaning of him not going home all night?
“I’ll ask you for a clear explanation later; don’t you dare run off,” Tif whispered to Teanya.
“Just because you say don’t run doesn’t mean I won’t,” Teanya muttered, though she tried to keep Tif from hearing her.
Down below, as Teanya had said, Yilu’s mood today was much better than before.
In truth, after Lyr left, she had dawdled in her room for a long time before she finally emerged.
As for what she was fussing over inside, that was something only she knew.
After fussing several times, she realized that she did not seem to dislike the scent on Lyr’s clothes; she even liked it a little.
A young girl’s burgeoning feelings were like a flower peeking through a crack.
In a world that had originally been nothing but dimness and loneliness, the figure of the person who had pulled the crack open had appeared.
This feeling was new to her, and it made Yilu rest her chin on her palm as she examined every move Lyr made.
Lyr was not exactly nervous, but he could not relax either; his entire body felt tense.
For him, really starting the class meant he had no spare time to pay attention to other things, so he spent most of his time going over the knowledge points in the textbook.
As a result, he did not notice Yilu’s gaze or the fiery look Tif was giving him from the back.
After a while, even Lyr himself found it boring.
Some students who had been paying attention were starting to yawn, which was exactly like how he used to be.
One of the main reasons Lyr did not like returning to the academy was that whenever he recalled his time there, it always felt too dull.
Compared to this kind of book knowledge, he preferred to experiment and understand things through practice.
He sighed inwardly, feeling that he was becoming the type of person he once disliked.
Lyr stopped talking and glanced at the densely packed writing he had put on the blackboard.
It was not scribbled, but he could only say it was barely legible.
To be honest, this was the first time in his life he had held chalk to write so much.
Looking at the last knowledge point in the textbook, Lyr shook his head and finally closed the book.
“I think you all know the contents of this book well enough, and there is no real point in me repeating it here.”
Take his younger sister, for instance; she would generally read through the books once she got home, and as long as she wanted to understand something, she could generally grasp the essence.
Besides, this was the Royal Academy; these students were likely the same way.
“Since this is magical theory, I will draw on my own experiences using Magic to teach you a bit about things not in the textbook.”
Lyr did not know if this had any meaning, but at the very least, he had always liked to do things his own way. Reading from a script was not his style.
His simple words left most of the students stunned, and even Tif wore an expression of confusion.
When teacher Luoduan taught, she always prioritized the textbook and would never be like Lyr.
Lyr stepped slightly to the side to reveal himself. “You have all basically learned how to use Magic, but how do you actually use it?”
“How do we use it? Isn’t Magic just a means of attack?”
Lyr’s question was very strange. Since Magic was a way to cause massive destruction, if it wasn’t used for attacking, what else could it be used for?
As for healing magic, that was not something they were involved with at the moment, and that kind of magic required special people to be able to learn and use it.
Lyr nodded, roughly understanding the extent of these students’ grasp on magic.
“Correct, but not entirely.”
Lyr raised his hand and began to whisper under his breath. A gust of wind began to swirl around his raised palm, and once the wind had gathered, he quickly swept it toward everyone in the room.
Everyone was startled at first and subconsciously raised their arms to defend themselves.
Using magic directly on students in class was, any way you looked at it, insane.
When they reacted, they discovered it was just a gentle breeze, so weak that it only ruffled their hair and had no lethality at all.
Regaining their senses, they saw Lyr cough and clap his hands.
“What I just used was the simplest wind magic, but it had no offensive purpose at all. So, non-prize question: what is the point of this spell?”
“……”
The room fell into silence; no one could answer the question.
Such weak magic was inferior even to their own; even a beginner could do far better than that.
Lyr sighed and laughed. “This is what I mean. Magic is not solely for attacking. For example, the wind magic I just used did a rough sweep of your bodies.”
Lyr snapped his fingers and pointed at a boy in the back. “That student, although there is a swordplay class this afternoon, I do not recommend that you carry your sword with you right now.”
Everyone followed Lyr’s gaze to the boy. Under their scrutiny, he looked slightly embarrassed, but he did not deny what Lyr had just said.
