When Lin Yi woke up, the sky had fallen.
Who understands, family? Opening her phone at four in the morning felt like walking into a horror movie.
She didn’t dare reply to the messages now, she could only run her brain at full speed to sort through the information.
The last moment before losing consciousness, she only remembered feeling drowsy in bed, and then fainting after receiving a prompt from the System.
She seemed to have woken up a few times in between, but she didn’t remember what she did.
It was like blacking out from drinking, or being suddenly woken from a dream. Anyway, she had lost her memory of it now.
She scrolled through her phone over and over, finally learning that the typhoon had passed, school had resumed normal classes, and Feng Chuyue had long since gone home.
The scary part was, her body now felt like it had been trampled on the back by hundreds of elephants, as limp and sore as a pile of mud.
Even turning on her phone screen was strenuous exercise. The level of full-body soreness had reached a peak she never imagined possible in her life.
If she weren’t holding back right now, she could let out an “oh ho ho ho ho” sound at any moment.
As expected, power comes with a price. Gul’dan, I understand you now.
But Lin Yi didn’t regret it.
Slowly adapting to the soreness in her body, Lin Yi felt she could sit up.
A little after five, Yan Jianxing’s phone alarm rang. She had just gotten up when she saw Lin Yi already sitting on the bed, staring blankly at her phone screen.
“Whoa, you scared me!”
“Good morning.” Lin Yi showed a smile. “I didn’t turn on the light because I was afraid of disturbing you.”
Yan Jianxing patted her chest, got out of bed, and turned on the light: “Holding your phone under your chin is classic horror movie stuff, you know.”
“Sorry, sorry.”
Yan Jianxing put her hands on her hips, standing below and looking up at Lin Yi: “Are you better?”
Lin Yi nodded: “Much better, but my legs are still very sore. Probably can’t go to class today. I’ll ask our class teacher for leave in a bit.”
“Then should I bring you lunch and dinner at noon?”
“No need, no need, the dorm supervisor auntie can bring it up.” Lin Yi made a ‘V’ sign. “I can still walk that short distance.”
“Alright.” Given Lin Yi’s sweet smile, Yan Jianxing couldn’t say anything more.
Looks really can be a meal ticket.
After a while, Yan Jianxing asked again: “You can take care of yourself, right?”
“Ah, don’t worry, go exercise already.”
Seeing Yan Jianxing off, Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
For some reason, she felt something was off.
When she got up in the morning, Yan Jianxing kept looking at her snow-white legs exposed to the air, intentionally or not, sometimes even stealing glances.
That look didn’t seem like concern about whether she could walk or not.
It must be an illusion, Lin Yi thought. After all, she had worried her, so looking a few extra times shouldn’t be strange.
But these messages… how should she reply…
Start with the simple ones first.
Lin Yi lay back down, her waterfall-like black hair spread across the bed, as she held up her phone to type.
Lin Yi: Sorry, I caught a cold the last couple of days, went to sleep very early last night.
Su Kui: A cold? How are you now, feeling better?
Lin Yi: I’m fine. But just to be safe, to avoid infecting you all, I’m taking a sick day and not going to class today.
Su Kui: Okay… then take care of yourself, don’t overdo it.
Lin Yi: Hehe, don’t worry, thanks for your concern, Sister Kui!
Su Kui: What silly talk, rest well!
…
Lin Yi: I think it’s good that your parents can send someone to pick you up and take you home. Don’t run around everywhere in the future.
Feng Chuyue: You’ve resurrected?
Lin Yi: ?
Feng Chuyue: In games, that’s what they say. Lin Yi, before, you were no different from dead.
Lin Yi: Can you say something auspicious, Moon God? I’m going to cry.

Feng Chuyue: Say something auspicious?
Feng Chuyue: May you be blessed.
Lin Yi: Oh my, I dare not accept such honor! Are you at class yet?
Feng Chuyue: Just arrived.
Feng Chuyue: Can you chat with me all day? Yan Jianxing said you asked for leave.
Lin Yi: Pay attention in class, no playing with your phone during lessons, or I’ll report you to our class teacher.

…
…
Damn it, Lin Yi really couldn’t figure out how to reply to Jian Shuye’s message after thinking for a long time.
She had already decided everything herself, so what was the point of replying?
‘Let’s end our contract right now. I won’t give any N+ compensation. If you want it, go sue me. I’ll fight you to the end. Now take your things and get out of Zhuming Girls’ High immediately!’
Yes, in Lin Yi’s fantasy, Jian Shuye was that kind of character.
But yesterday was really an accident.
Annoyance.
Fantasy.
Fell asleep.
Really exhausted.
Lin Yi was already tired, and waking up at four was probably from the pain.
Now it was past eight, she had used up more energy, hadn’t eaten breakfast, and just fell asleep again.
Vaguely, she felt the dormitory door open and then slam shut with a bang, but Lin Yi just assumed it was Yan Jianxing coming back, rolled over, and continued sleeping.
When she drifted in and out of dreams, feeling like she would turn into a pig if she slept any more, Lin Yi finally opened her eyes.
Sitting up, the soreness in her body had lessened considerably. Walking out of the dorm shouldn’t be a problem.
“Awake?”
“Mm, awake. Slept so comfortably… WHOA AHHHHH WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!”
Lin Yi quickly grabbed the edge of the bed and looked down. There, sitting at her own desk, was Jian Shuye wearing the Zhuming Girls’ High school uniform, her slender legs crossed, instantly bringing an aura of a beautiful girl to this dorm room.
The pursuit has come to my door.
Jian Shuye crossed her arms, her fingers tapping on her own forearm: “I’ve been sitting here, waiting for you for two hours.”
Lin Yi immediately knelt on the bed: “Sumimasen!”
Then she looked up: “Wait, no. Isn’t it class time right now? How can you be in the dorm?”
“The school belongs to my family. What’s strange about that?” Jian Shuye chuckled lightly.
“How did you get my dorm key?” Lin Yi was wary.
“The school belongs to my family. What’s strange about that?”
“How did you know I asked for…” Lin Yi answered for her, “…leave? The school is your family’s, right?”
Jian Shuye flipped open the vocabulary book on Lin Yi’s desk: “Come down first. I’m not used to looking up at people when I talk.”
Such domineering aura!
Lin Yi even took the time to brush her teeth and wash her face, changing clothes in the bathroom before coming out.
Thinking about it, Jian Shuye was a guest, so she should at least get her something to drink. That’s called manners.
But the three of them had polished off all the drinks during their tea party that night, so Lin Yi could only painfully use her skill.
Pouring water from the kettle, Lin Yi used the Highest Good is Like Water skill. From an angle Jian Shuye couldn’t see, two cups of Clear Mind Black Tea were brewed just like that.
“Here, black tea, a local specialty from my hometown.” Lin Yi handed over a cup.
Jian Shuye seemed skeptical: “Low-quality tea leaves will put me in a bad mood. Think about it before pushing it over.”
“Drink it or don’t.”
Lin Yi drank hers first and immediately felt her mind clear. The grogginess from sleeping in vanished completely. Right now, she could even grind through three sets of math papers in a row.
Jian Shuye looked at that cup of black tea, reached out to take it, closed her eyes, and sniffed it.
Surprisingly fragrant.
She took a small sip.
Took another small sip without changing her expression.
Then half the cup went down.
Finally, she held the cup, took a deep breath, and said: “This cup doesn’t match the tea.”
“I think it’s fine, as long as it’s drinkable.” Lin Yi smiled. “Um, let me explain. The reason I didn’t reply to messages these two days is because…”
“You had a fever, I know.”
“That’s a big help.” Lin Yi put her hands together. “Sorry, I really did see the messages, I just didn’t know how to answer you.”
Jian Shuye looked at the now-empty cup in her hand, then turned her head: “I’ll forgive you this time. But next time, if you get sick, remember to tell me promptly.”
“Didn’t you forbid me from actively sending messages to you?”
“Asking for leave is an exception. Sick leave is too.”
Then, Jian Shuye stared at the cup, seeming to gather her thoughts for a good while before asking: “Is there more?”
“More of what?”
“Tea.”
“None.” Lin Yi smirked with a crooked smile. “Only these two cups a day. No more.”
Jian Shuye’s gaze instantly turned cold.
