Seeing Yilu like this, Lyr finally bandaged the wound on the sole of her foot and briefly tidied up the infirmary, which was practically a mess.
Yilu refused to be carried in Lyr’s arms. After some discussion, they had to settle for piggyback.
When Lyr carried Yilu to the door and was about to leave, he turned around for a look at the infirmary, which still didn’t resemble its original state.
“If the academy people see this scene, would they think a thief broke in and looted the place?” Lyr said.
In a large Royal Academy like this, if something like this really happened, it would attract a lot of attention.
“Then what should we do?” Yilu also felt embarrassed.
This whole scene was her doing. Without Lyr, it might have been even worse.
“Tsk.” Lyr sucked in a cold breath and tilted his head. “Anyway, only the two of us know about this. As long as we don’t say anything, no one will find out.”
As he tilted his head, their faces were inches apart. He could feel the small breeze from her eyelashes as she blinked.
“What are you doing again? You’re too close…” Yilu reached out and pushed against the face that was leaning closer to her.
“Alright, alright, I get it. Stop it—my neck still hurts a lot.”
“……Oh.”
Yilu’s hand stayed in the position of pushing Lyr’s cheek, but the force had already lessened, no different from simply pressing her hand against his face.
In fact, ever since Lyr had lifted her onto his back, her gaze had hardly left his neck.
The closer she got, the more Yilu could feel how much force must have been used to leave that handprint on his neck—and all of it was her doing.
Yet Lyr never brought it up, as if he knew she would feel guilty and deliberately avoided the topic.
“All right. Since you have no objections either, let’s just happily agree on that.”
This was also the best solution for now. When the academy eventually came to him, he could figure something out then.
If he got fired over this, that might even be a good thing.
With that, Lyr carried Yilu toward the dormitory.
She was covered in mud now—she couldn’t stay like this forever, and certainly couldn’t stay in the infirmary.
Going back to her own room to rest was best. Or maybe Lyr was considering taking her back to his place.
He couldn’t just leave her alone in her dorm room.
For now, Yilu had recovered temporarily, but no one knew if she would relapse like last night—that was what worried him most.
If he really was helpful to her, the best thing was to stay by her side.
Yilu found this guy speechless. What did he mean, “you have no objections”? He hadn’t even asked for her opinion.
Other than that, there really was no other choice.
From start to finish, this guy was as casual as ever.
She really found it hard to believe Lyr had been stationed at the Frontier.
Wasn’t that a place where you often had to deal with emergencies? How could a grinning, cheeky guy like that avoid getting on people’s nerves there?
Still, the way he talked was pretty interesting.
Parting her lips slightly, Yilu hesitated, then asked, “Does that mean this counts as a secret between you and me?”
“Probably,” Lyr answered without a second thought.
He looked left and right, confirmed the direction, and continued carrying Yilu forward.
Yilu smiled. Since she was on Lyr’s back, she didn’t have to worry about him noticing her expression.
‘Having some kind of unspeakable secret with someone… sounds pretty good.’
“Didn’t you say last night that if I didn’t come back, you’d bring some food this morning?”
Lyr had been wondering why the maid still hadn’t shown up.
As he walked, he didn’t forget to warn Yilu. “I suggest you don’t squirm around. If I accidentally touch somewhere I shouldn’t, don’t get mad.”
“What the hell are you thinking about in that head of yours?” Yilu couldn’t help complaining.
In this position, her entire body was leaning against his back.
With this kind of physical contact, he still said something like that—she couldn’t tell if he was doing it on purpose.
‘At this point, with what happened last night, this doesn’t seem like a big deal,’ Yilu silently sighed to herself.
Staring at his cheek, she suddenly realized that if this guy dropped that casual attitude, he actually made a pretty good impression.
“Let me ask you something.”
“Go ahead, as long as I know the answer,” Lyr said naturally.
He subconsciously thought Yilu wanted to ask why she had that episode, just like when they first met.
“How many girls have you carried piggyback?”
“Huh?”
The unexpected question made Lyr want to turn his head again.
“I told you not to turn around—keep your eyes on the road.”
This time, Yilu was ready. She reached out and blocked Lyr’s face, but still didn’t push hard.
“And don’t hesitate. Answer quickly.”
The faster the answer, the more honest it would be, closest to the truth.
“Honestly? When I was little, I carried Tif out to play. As for other girls…” Lyr shook his head. “Never. You’re the first.”
He didn’t know why Yilu was asking, but he answered honestly.
“Really?”
“Really. Lying to you doesn’t do me any good.” Lyr clicked his tongue, feeling a bit annoyed at being grilled like this.
“I see,” Yilu murmured to herself.
A secret delight welled up inside her, like a little girl seeing her favorite doll still in the display case.
“So you’re just like this, huh.”
Lyr tilted his head without turning it. ‘What’s going on? Was I just insulted?’
“Then let me tell you—you can’t carry any other girls from now on.”
“Why?”
Lyr was completely confused. Last night she was like that, so how did she become so odd after waking up?
“You ask way too many questions. It’s annoying.” Yilu puffed out her cheeks and poked Lyr’s cheek with her finger. “You don’t want other people to find out that you, a teacher, are carrying your student like this, do you?”
Lyr gave a wry laugh. It sounded like he had forced Yilu onto his back.
If her foot weren’t injured, he wouldn’t need to do this. Besides, she was the one who said no to carrying her in his arms, so they compromised and used piggyback.
Otherwise, should he just sling her over his shoulder?
“Did you hear me?”
Lyr’s silence earned him an even harder poke on the cheek.
“Alright, alright, I got it.”
“That’s more like it.”
Finally getting an answer, Yilu withdrew her hand, and a smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
