Ling Ling slowly raised her crimson eyes.
Her pupils glowed with an amber light in the sunset.
“I do.”
“But there’s one condition.”
After hearing those three words, “I do,” Miss Ye’s “devil brain” had already kicked into gear, conjuring up a bunch of nonexistent memories.
She’d already started fantasizing: in a pure white church, wearing a sharp-cut white suit, down on one knee, while the white-haired girl before her stood in a wedding dress, bathed in the light streaming through the stained glass, looking especially holy.
The priest beside them was asking the white-haired girl if she was willing. The girl looked up, a soft smile on her face, her crimson eyes full of gentle light, and whispered those words —
“Hey, Miss Ye, are you listening?”
Ye Fengxue snapped back to reality.
Ling Ling was staring at her with a puzzled expression, and Miss Ye had already turned into a “steam engine” from her strange fantasy.
“What were you just thinking about? Your face is really red.”
“I wasn’t thinking about ANYTHING!!!”
Miss Ye jumped back, waving her hands frantically in front of her chest as if desperately denying whatever had been going through her mind.
“Haha, I was just wondering what your condition was. Yeah! Your condition! Definitely not thinking about anything weird!”
Ling Ling watched the obviously flustered Miss Ye with suspicion.
‘This girl was definitely thinking about something strange just now…’
‘Wait, I think I know what Miss Ye misunderstood. Was it because of those three words…?’
‘Where do those three words usually show up…?’
‘Wasn’t it a church, a wedding dress, a ring, a priest, and that line “Do you promise to love and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer…”’
Thinking of this, Ling Ling also became embarrassed. In both her lives, she had only ever been in love once, and such a scene was quite impactful for her, still an innocent virgin.
Even though she and her sister usually had a very ambiguous way of interacting, it was just a “normal sister relationship” — at least that’s what she insisted.
At this moment, Ling Ling’s cute, expressionless face showed its greatest tactical value: no matter how strong the inner emotions, the surface remained perfectly still.
Of course, her ears had no ability to hide her feelings, and they had flushed red from the earlier fantasy.
But fortunately, Miss Ye, currently in full “steam engine” mode, had her brain completely offline and didn’t notice Ling Ling’s ears at all.
The two just stood there, staring at each other for over ten seconds.
Ling Ling broke the awkward silence first, pulling the conversation back on track.
“Ahem. I’ll tell you about the condition after everything’s done.”
“The priority now is figuring out what identity I should use to protect you and Uncle Ye at the clan meeting.”
“Going in like this is definitely out of the question.”
Miss Ye froze for a moment, as if her brain had just rebooted.
“Oh, that. I’ve already thought of it for you. Didn’t you copy a Supernatural Ability that changes your appearance before?”
“I can ask my father to use his authority to forge a fake identity for you as a distant relative of the Ye family. Then you just stay by my side.”
“And if your sister wants to come too, I can forge an extra one.”
Ling Ling nodded lightly in approval after hearing Miss Ye’s plan.
It was similar to what she had envisioned: using Mimicry to change her appearance and enter the clan meeting as a distant relative of the Ye family.
This would allow her to openly stay by Ye Fengxue’s side without revealing her true identity as Bai Ye or Moriarty.
“Then… what should the fake name be?”
“Well…”
Ye Fengxue crossed her arms and thought for a moment.
“Just call her ‘Ye Ling.’ After all, your name is three zeros. Even if I accidentally call you Ling Ling, it won’t give us away—it sounds the same. As for the background…”
“Let’s say you’re my distant cousin, grew up in the Seventh District, and this is your first time attending the Ye family’s clan meeting.”
“Keep your personality as it is. You don’t talk much to strangers anyway, which fits the slightly shy newcomer vibe.”
“…You didn’t already have that planned, did you?”
“I always prepare multiple plans in advance!”
Ye Fengxue puffed out her chest, looking proud.
Then her expression softened a bit. “And besides—if you’re a distant cousin, you can stay at the Ye Family Main House legitimately.”
“And for the days before and after the meeting, you’ll have to keep me company…”
Ling Ling watched Miss Ye’s face, which was desperately trying to maintain a business-like expression, and the corner of her eye twitched slightly.
But she didn’t try to puncture Miss Ye’s little scheme. She just nodded.
“What about Xiao Jiu? If she wants to come too.”
“Of course, no problem. Your sister has black hair anyway, so she doesn’t need to change her appearance much. I’ll just register her as another distant relative.”
Ye Fengxue paused, a shrewd glint flashing in her eyes.
“And to be honest—I know your sister’s strength. If we really end up in a direct confrontation with Phantom Night Company, having another S-Class Combat Power–level helper would raise our odds by a lot.”
“Xiao Jiu isn’t S-Class.”
“But she can beat an S-Class down.”
Ye Fengxue recalled the fragmentary intelligence she’d gathered about the Seventh Facility and the details Qian Dai had revealed, and couldn’t help shivering.
“You two sisters are monsters. But hey, I’m glad you’re on my side.”
After the topic returned to the main track, her thoughts began to race.
Xiao Jiu had black hair and blue eyes—no major adjustments needed.
But her own situation was much trickier. Her white hair and crimson eyes were her most distinctive features. Mimicry could change her hair and eye color, but maintaining it would continuously drain her Supernatural Energy.
The clan meeting lasted from morning until night, at least a full day. If she had to deal with unexpected situations in the middle, the allocation of her Supernatural Energy became a difficult calculation.
Though she did have the ability to fight at the S-Class level, her reserves were still at A-rank.
“What are you thinking about?”
Ye Fengxue noticed her silence.
“About how to handle the hair and eye color.”
Ling Ling lifted a strand of her white hair. “Even if I change my face, if the hair and eye color stay the same, I’ll still stand out.”
“But if I use Mimicry to change both, the energy drain over a whole day won’t be small. If there’s an actual fight…”
