Chapter 87: What Will You Protect With!

“Hey… Xiao Bai??”

“What’s wrong?”

“I can’t walk right now.”

“Why?”

Bai Ziyu froze, then lowered her head and only then realized she had stepped on the girl’s shoe heel. 

“Why did you let me step on you?”

Luo Yunzhi was speechless. 

No matter how she heard it, those words simply didn’t sound right. 

She tugged at the corner of her mouth. 

“Please, you’re the one who deliberately stepped on me.”

“How could I possibly… cough.” 

The little loli had just been about to retort when she suddenly remembered it was because she had been dissatisfied with her own height earlier.

As a result, when the girl walked forward, she completely blocked every bit of sunlight falling from ahead. 

It was basically an insult to short people.

So she had subconsciously stepped on her.

Knowing she was in the wrong, and although Bai Ziyu had a sharp tongue, she wasn’t the sort to be unreasonable, she immediately changed her words.

“Then, sorry.” 

She pulled her foot back and kicked at the sneakers on the ground. 

Honestly, these sneakers didn’t fit very well either.

The shoes had also come from Luo Yunzhi. After all, once she transformed she had nothing on her at all, so she could only ask the girl for things to wear.

The shoes were from the girl’s elementary-school days, but they were still too big.

Every few steps she took, she felt the entire shoe wobbling across the top of her foot, constantly afraid it would slip right off.

“I can’t walk anymore.” She stopped in place and reached out to tug at Luo Yunzhi’s sleeve. When she had been a cat, this amount of exercise hadn’t been anything at all.

The little loli didn’t know the reason… maybe she was actually just a big lazy cat?

But she wouldn’t go back on a promise.

So Bai Ziyu thought of a good idea. She raised her head to look at the girl, her eyes carrying a touch of pitiful meaning.

The little loli stretched out her hands toward the girl. 

“Luozi, carry me to the classroom.” She spoke without the slightest hesitation. “I don’t want to keep walking.”

Luo Yunzhi hadn’t expected the other party would make such a request of her. 

She lowered her head and looked at the sneakers Bai Ziyu was wearing.

The shoes were already very old and didn’t fit properly.

“Alright then.” With a light laugh, the girl squatted down with her back to the little loli, and Bai Ziyu easily hopped onto her back.

Luo Yunzhi supported her with her hands, stood up steadily, and once the girl had wrapped her arms tightly around her, slowly began walking toward the teaching building.

The girl looked ahead, yet her thoughts couldn’t help but churn. Bai Ziyu’s weight was lighter than she had imagined, landing on her body like a feather.

Yet her body was very soft, not at all like skin and bones, and she couldn’t see any signs of anything unusual. 

The little loli… probably hadn’t eaten properly before, but it was still all right. Although there was some exaggeration in that.

Luo Yunzhi couldn’t figure it out. Suddenly a breeze blew past, lifting Bai Ziyu’s hair so that it hung from her shoulder straight down beside her.

The girl’s hair had originally been medium-length, but looking at it now it seemed more like long hair, adding a few more bookish touches.

She found it rather interesting.

She laughed softly.

Because she was carrying someone, for the sake of safety Luo Yunzhi took each step very carefully, so naturally her speed slowed down.

But she wasn’t in a hurry. After all, since class had already started, being three minutes late or half an hour late made no real difference.

What’s more, with her grades, aside from that rather fierce homeroom teacher, the other teachers were all quite reasonable when they saw her.

Luo Yunzhi took two steps.

Suddenly she spoke.

“What are you afraid of? Xiao Bai, aren’t you afraid?”

Bai Ziyu came back to her senses from looking at the scenery. “I’ve never been afraid of anything in my life.”

Luo Yunzhi was slightly stunned and didn’t easily believe the little loli’s bragging. “Aren’t you afraid… that you’ll attract a lot of attention later?”

The girl’s question came out of nowhere, making Bai Ziyu rest her chin on the girl’s head. 

“If people stare, they stare. What’s there to be afraid of?” She tilted her little head.

“What’s wrong? But you’re so pretty.”

“Will the student council start sending you love letters? Isn’t this a girls’ high school?”

“There will be love letters.”

“Then just let them send them.”

Bai Ziyu didn’t understand. 

She thought carefully—could it be that Luo Yunzhi was… even if there was ‘yuri,’ with her age, would the other party still go for it? How terrifying.

The little loli yawned, full of boredom. 

“Anyway, it’s impossible for me to accept. To be honest, I’m very picky about lovers.”

Luo Yunzhi’s footsteps paused slightly.

Then she continued walking.

She pretended to ask casually, as if out of curiosity, the question she had long wanted to know. “Then what are the specific standards?”

“Let me think… got it.” 

After a brief moment of thought, Bai Ziyu didn’t hide anything and answered quickly. 

“First, it has to be a girl.”

“Mm… like that.” The little loli’s answer wasn’t exactly surprising or unsurprising, yet Luo Yunzhi inexplicably felt a sense of relief in her heart.

Although in today’s society this might not be the mainstream view of romance, when it came to herself she still couldn’t help but feel delighted.

The little loli grew up crooked.

Although she was cheering inside, she still kept a calm expression on the outside, like a counselor listening to a client’s story.

Bai Ziyu of course didn’t notice anything wrong and continued speaking softly. 

“You might not understand… but I definitely won’t accept boys.”

The girl felt the movement.
