“Um…”
Just as Reika did not know what to do, Sakuraraku spoke.
“Are there any missions that… only two magical girls can do?”
“What do you mean…”
Reika could not understand for a moment.
“The kind where… two magical girls have to be present to handle it. For example, me and the other one, the only two magical girls currently contracted with the New Urban District.”
She took a huge detour and still did not name Seika.
Speaking of that kind of thing, Reika actually did have one on hand.
There was no need for it at present, but in order to soothe Sakuraraku’s mood she sat back down on the sofa and took out the folder.
“There is one, actually… but for now its priority is not all that high. I had originally planned to wait until Seika and you were both free, then discuss it together…”
“She’s free!”
Sakuraraku rarely interrupted Reika.
“She’s super free. You can contact her right now. The more you make it sound like a burning emergency, the better!”
*Ah?*
Reika had completely lost the thread.
But since Sakuraraku had said so, it was probably not a lie.
She took out her comms device, composed a message, and sent it to Seika.
Perhaps she really was very free.
A little more than ten minutes later, Seika pushed the door open, panting.
“What happened.”
A young lady’s etiquette let her quickly straighten her transformed outfit, and she looked at the two people in the room.
Sakuraraku’s face was holding back a laugh, an expression of schadenfreude.
Beside her, Reika was completely out of the loop, her face full of endless questions.
Seika understood the situation in an instant.
“Sakuraraku—! Don’t you feel that doing something that harms others without benefiting yourself is a disgrace to your identity as a magical girl!? You have already been disqualified as a magical girl!”
“Someone didn’t talk like that when she was showing off to me this morning~”
Seeing Seika’s angry face, Sakuraraku burst into open laughter.
Reika took back her earlier judgment.
*This girl is pink on the outside and pitch-black underneath.*
“A mere defeated dog can only bark like this for now.”
Seika folded her arms and looked down at Sakuraraku with an expression of looking down from on high.
“I sent her home and then rushed over. Do you know how cute her sleeping face was in the car?”
“You!”
This time it was Sakuraraku’s turn to glare at Seika in fury.
*So that’s how it was…*
Off to the side, Reika silently put on noise-canceling headphones and refused to listen to this emotional drama.
The two magical girls bickered a while longer before they noticed there was still someone beside them, and finally quieted down.
Four eyes stared at Reika together.
“Miss Reika, hurry up and say it.”
The two of them spoke almost in unison, then shot each other a look of distaste.
*Can these two really cooperate properly…*
Reika could not help but doubt it.
She gave a light cough and spread the files out on the table.
“It’s like this… A few days ago, people from the Investigation Team captured a new magic signature in the city.”
She pointed at the photograph on the table.
It was a girl.
She sat sideways on a long broom, looking into the distance with a vacant expression, clearly unaware that she had been photographed.
What drew the eye most of all was the pair of large cat ears on top of her head.
“And when the Investigation Team agents traced the magic source, they found a girl.”
“We’re going to subdue her?”
Sakuraraku guessed.
“You idiot. Of course they want us to dispose of her.”
Seika rolled her eyes at her, as if looking at an idiot.
*Why have these two gotten so aggressive…*
Reika hurriedly cut off their discussion.
If this went on, that poor cat-eared girl was going to be torn apart between the two of them.
“We speculate this is a newly awakened magical girl, so we would like to ask the two of you to go negotiate and inquire whether she has any intention of cooperating with the Demon Hunting Division.”
“What… so it isn’t a cat-eared monster…”
Sakuraraku’s disappointment almost spilled off her face.
“If she doesn’t agree, do we have to dispose of her?”
Seika asked from the side.
*What is going on with these two…?*
Reika felt as if she were standing in a noisy kindergarten classroom.
You exhausted yourself reasoning with a group of small children, and they only cared about how to turn everything around them into a mess.
She drew a deep breath and recovered her professional attitude.
“Generally, only girls who are kind by nature awaken as magical girls, so we believe that even if she does not cooperate with the Demon Hunting Division, she will still protect everyone’s safety in her own way.”
Reika showed a professional-grade smile and said to the two of them,
“So your mission is only to negotiate with her.”
