Lu Xin stood amid a stretch of ruins, surrounded by broken walls and collapsed pillars as miserable screams filled his ears.
High above, dense thunderclouds churned with lightning.
Behind the layers of clouds, he could vaguely make out a gigantic figure.
He lowered his head and looked at his hands.
What had he just been doing?
It seemed he had been playing with someone for a while before getting so tired that he fell asleep.
In other words, he was inside a dream.
Lu Xin looked around at the ruins.
Although barely one-tenth of the structures remained, he could still tell how glorious this place had once been.
Just then, several figures ran past him.
Among them were members of the Elven Race and other races.
“Wait…”
Lu Xin reached out to stop them, but his hand passed straight through their bodies.
“What’s going on? Is this a phantom?”
Unable to understand what was happening, Lu Xin tried touching a damaged stone pillar beside him. The moment he touched it, the pillar collapsed.
Emmm. He turned his head and looked around.
Fortunately, no one had noticed him.
One glance was enough to tell him that these were no ordinary ruins.
He had probably damaged a cultural relic.
If anyone found out, he would likely have to pay a hefty sum.
Suddenly, he felt a tremor beneath his feet, and the ground split open.
Lu Xin froze for a moment before hurriedly jumping aside.
He then looked toward the newly formed fissure.
The group he had seen earlier happened to be swallowed by the opening and plunged into the earth.
Lu Xin raised an eyebrow.
He had heard that during an earthquake, the ground could crack open and then close again shortly afterward.
Such scenes appeared in horror stories and legends alike.
Even after an earthquake stopped, people sometimes claimed they could still hear voices coming from underground.
Lu Xin climbed over several collapsed ruins and walked to the spot where the group had disappeared.
There was no way he could dig through the earth with his bare hands.
He wandered through the ruins, occasionally coming across corpses scattered across the ground.
As before, they belonged to various races.
However, when Lu Xin bent down to examine their wounds, he realized they did not seem to have killed one another.
The circumstances of their deaths were all rather strange.
Most had been burned to death or reduced to dried corpses.
Lu Xin found a fallen stone pillar and sat down on it.
For some inexplicable reason, he quite enjoyed the gray, hazy weather.
The wild wind howled as lightning flashed and thunder roared.
It felt as though the world would be destroyed the very next second.
Meanwhile, he sat alone in this silent, desolate land of death, waiting for himself to turn to ash as well.
Lu Xin shook his head, pressed his forehead, and muttered helplessly, “No, what am I overthinking?”
At that moment, he spotted a figure standing on a distant hilltop.
After wandering around for so long, he had finally encountered another living person.
He immediately stood up and rushed toward the figure.
When he reached the hilltop, Lu Xin finally saw what this place truly was.
The red moon hanging high in the Sky emerged from behind the clouds.
Countless bizarre Demons poured through a Rift in the Sky, while the plain before him had already become a sea of corpses and blood.
Vast quantities of black, viscous matter dripped from the Sky.
The moment it touched a living creature, it began devouring it before merging into a larger mass of liquid.
What sent a chill down Lu Xin’s spine, however, was the realization that the gray haze he had seen earlier was not actually the Sky.
A colossal creature appeared before his eyes.
The gray skin of its upper body was connected like a body bag.
If he had to describe it, it resembled the Crawling Corpses from Silent Hill, except that its lower body consisted of countless tangled limbs.
This monstrous creature was so enormous that it covered both the Sky and the blood moon, making Lu Xin think the Sky itself was gray and hazy.
“Great King, did you foresee all of this long ago?”
The figure standing before Lu Xin had his back turned to him as he murmured to himself.
Lu Xin walked closer and finally saw the man’s face clearly.
Silver hair draped over his shoulders, and his features were handsome.
Although dried blood stained his hair and sullied his face, it did nothing to diminish his approachable aura.
He was the last Elf King, Celeborn.
Celeborn held Evelyn in his hand.
At this time, the short bow had not yet been damaged.
Vines intertwined to form its body, and unfinished sap still flowed through it, pulsing continuously like a heartbeat.
Suddenly, space trembled, and an obscure voice echoed across the entire battlefield.
“Elf King, the Abyss Lord wants your head.”
“Let him come and take it himself if he has the ability.”
Lu Xin watched the exchange between Celeborn and a figure on the battlefield as the scene before his eyes began changing rapidly.
Giant vines sprouted beneath Celeborn, lifting him into the air in an instant as he charged toward the battlefield and clashed with the figure who had just spoken.
When Lu Xin focused his eyes again, countless grown vines had already strangled the Demons on the battlefield, and the monster in the Sky had begun to move.
Every time it swept across the battlefield, it unleashed enough power to shatter the earth.
Countless tornadoes formed among the limbs beneath its body, ruthlessly slaughtering everything in their path.
Audrey looked up at the Magic Array in the Sky as a Rift tore open within it.
From a distance, she could see creatures flying out of the opening.
Those bizarre Demons had once again descended upon Elasia.
No one could have imagined that the Demons personally sealed by the Elf King ten thousand years ago would be summoned back by the Elven Race itself ten thousand years later.
Audrey’s expression grew grave.
She could sense that something even more massive remained inside the Rift, waiting to emerge.
Watching the Demons pour out one after another, Silver Leaf knew their plan had succeeded.
Once the Rift was fully opened, the territory of the Delk Kingdom would become a land of death.
“Lady Silver Leaf, has the summoning ritual been successfully activated?”
“Almost. Once the giant creature recorded in the Scroll descends, the ritual will be a complete success.”
“But there are already so many monsters appearing. Isn’t that a little too much?”
An Elf watched as the Demons filled the Sky within seconds, unable to hide his fear.
If they continued pouring out at this rate, their numbers would soon become impossible to estimate.
“That won’t be a problem. As long as Evelyn is here, we can seal the Rift afterward.”
“But…”
“Stop saying ‘but.’ When the time comes, the Humans will willingly hand Evelyn over to us and beg for mercy.”
“Only members of the Elven Race can use that Holy Artifact. By then, the Delk Kingdom will have ceased to exist.”
Audrey watched the monster dive toward the ground, mounted a Sky Horse, and charged forward first.
Several grotesque Demons had not even reached her before the holy light released by the Sky Horse scorched them, causing them to writhe in agony.
Ailya and Ruilin also stopped rummaging through the room in search of Lu Xin.
They raised their heads and stared at the scene unfolding in the Sky.
“A Demon?”
Ailya blinked. She recognized the creature before her because she had witnessed the battle at the end of the Second Era with her own eyes.
She then turned her head toward a certain location.
She sensed something terrifying rushing toward Silver Crown City.
After sniffing the air, she realized she knew who was approaching.
If that person arrived, they should be able to limit the Demons’ destruction as much as possible.
With that thought in mind, she lowered her head and resumed digging through the rubble.
No matter what happened, Lu Xin’s safety remained her greatest concern.
