Primrose stepped forward and patted her mother on the shoulder, then leaned in and whispered, “Mom, this is an Otherworld, not a zoo. You’re a Hero now, so you have to learn how to fight. But before we start, let me teach you how to check your status screen.”
Primrose stretched out her hand and swiped through the air.
“Follow me. Say ‘status screen’ or ‘panel’ in your mind.”
Lin Naiyue closed her eyes and muttered under her breath, “Panel, panel, come out.”
Whoosh. A translucent screen appeared in front of Lin Naiyue.
The screen was packed with text, numbers, bars, and boxes.
“Huh? Is this a hologram?” Lin Naiyue opened her eyes, startled by the screen in front of her, and took a step back.
“Yeah, pretty much.”
Primrose glanced at her mother’s panel.
[Level: 50]
[Class: Hero]
[Skill Points: 50]
[HP: 20014]
[Strength (Physical ATK): 3247 (+3000)]
[Intelligence (Magic ATK & MP): 2543 (+1500)]
[Agility (Speed & Evasion): 3253 (+2000)]
[Constitution (Defense & HP): 5587 (+1500)]
[Skills (Magic & Combat Arts): None]
[Talents: 「Green Grade – Earthly Bedrock」 Increases defense. Immune to one instance of damage. Cooldown: one day.]
「Green Grade – Instant Teleportation」 Can instantly teleport to a previously visited location once. Cooldown: one day.
「White Grade – Wind’s Blessing」 Increases movement speed.
The numbers in parentheses were equipment bonuses. The numbers outside were the sum of base stats and equipment.
The Moon Sword boosted both Strength and Intelligence, making it a weapon for both magic and physical combat.
Plus, the armor’s Agility and Constitution bonuses barely brought her mother’s stats to where they were now.
It was decent, she guessed.
Primrose pointed at the very top of the screen. “Look here. It shows your name, level, and class. You’re a Level 50 Hero now. You leveled up last time when you landed the finishing blow on that Horse-faced Demon General.”
Lin Naiyue leaned in to take a closer look. “It really has my name. Level 50—is that impressive?”
“Not bad,” Primrose continued. “Below are your base stats. Strength determines your physical attack, Agility determines your speed and evasion chance, Intelligence determines magic attack and MP, and Constitution determines your defense and HP.”
Lin Naiyue listened, completely confused, her eyes darting back and forth across the panel.
Suddenly, her gaze stopped on a small corner at the bottom of the panel’s talents section.
「Motherly Love」 Under normal circumstances, outsiders, including the user’s own children, cannot see this talent. When you have a strong desire to protect your child, you can suddenly unleash the power to block and cut through anything.
Lin Naiyue froze.
‘What is this?’
Curious, she mentally tapped the icon.
Lin Naiyue stared blankly at the line of text.
Protect her child… protect Primrose.
She turned her head and looked at Primrose standing beside her.
Her daughter had become an Apprentice God, so beautiful, so dazzling.
But her daughter had also died once.
In their original world, Primrose had suddenly passed away. She had experienced the pain of losing a child.
That heartache, that helplessness—Lin Naiyue never wanted to go through it again.
Now that they had come to this world, even though her daughter was an all-powerful god, just in case…
She had to thoroughly absorb all this combat knowledge and Otherworld common sense.
So that on the day her daughter needed protection, she could be useful!
Lin Naiyue clenched her jaw.
She was Primrose’s mother. This talent was for her daughter.
“What are you staring at so intently?” Primrose waved her hand in front of her mother’s face.
“Huh? N-nothing.” Lin Naiyue snapped back to reality. “Primrose, there’s something shiny here that says ‘Available Skill Points: 50.’ What does that mean?”
Primrose explained, “Those are the free stat points you’ve saved up from leveling to 50. You can add them to Strength, Agility, Intelligence, or Constitution. This is the key to getting stronger.”
Primrose did the math in her head.
Her mother was a beginner with no combat experience.
If she added points to Strength, her attack power would be high, but she’d be easy to hit.
If she added to Agility, she’d be fast, but it required high control.
If she added to Constitution, she’d have high HP and defense, giving more room for error.
“I suggest you allocate your points evenly—a little to Constitution to ensure survival, and some to Strength, Agility, and Intelligence too. Later on, the Hero’s Holy Sword and armor might have special magic skills, so Intelligence will come in handy.”
Primrose gave her honest advice.
But no matter what, the support BUFFs she herself provided would be the main force.
Lin Naiyue looked at the options on the panel.
Strength, Intelligence, Agility, Constitution.
In her mind, she recalled the description of the Motherly Love talent from earlier.
As long as she wanted to protect Primrose, she could unleash the power to block and cut through anything.
That meant she didn’t need Strength, and she didn’t need magic.
She just needed to stay alive.
As long as she lived, she could keep protecting Primrose.
More life meant living longer.
Without hesitation, Lin Naiyue reached out her finger and frantically tapped the “+” button next to the Constitution stat.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!
A series of chimes rang out.
Primrose’s eyes went wide as she watched the numbers on her mother’s panel change at lightning speed.
[Available Stat Points: 0.]
[Constitution Bonus Points: 50.]
[Constitution (Defense & HP): 27,9350 (+1500)]
Skill points were multiplicative.
Earlier, Constitution was 5587. Now it was directly multiplied by 50.
The key was that this number also had a multiplier with HP and defense.
Now Lin Naiyue’s HP had broken through the million mark.
From the original 20,014 HP to 1,000,700 HP!
Primrose was dumbfounded.
She grabbed her mother’s wrist.
“What are you doing?!”
“Huh? What’s wrong?” Lin Naiyue was startled by her daughter’s reaction and blinked innocently.
Primrose pointed at the panel, her hand trembling.
But Lin Naiyue said seriously, “Primrose, I thought about it. HP is lifespan, right?”
Primrose was taken aback. “In game mechanics, HP represents how much damage you can take. You could think of it as vitality…”
“Then it’s lifespan!” Lin Naiyue interrupted her daughter, smiling happily. “If more HP means stronger vitality, then putting all my points into HP will let me live a really, really long time, won’t it?”
Primrose was stunned.
She couldn’t keep up with her mother’s logic.
Lin Naiyue reached out and stroked Primrose’s silver hair, her voice soft and gentle.
“Primrose, in the original world… you left so early.”
“Mom couldn’t stay with you until the end. But now we’re here, and you’ve become a god. Gods don’t age, right?”
Primrose opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words.
Lin Naiyue continued, “But Mom is just a Hero. I’m only human. Humans always get old, always die. If Mom dies of old age, you’ll be left all alone in this world again.”
“Mom doesn’t want that.”
Lin Naiyue pulled Primrose into a hug. “Mom wants to stay by Primrose’s side forever and ever, for eternity. That’s why Mom needs a lot, a lot of life. As long as I can live, as long as I can be with you, I don’t mind being a punching bag who can’t fight.”
She’s too precious
